1 out of 5 eggsBad product, defected

Pros: Fast delivery

Cons: I purchased this product and it came defected. when i tried to return it i couldn't because it had only 15 days of return. I wanted to return my product. Wasted almost 500 dollars on this thing.

3 out of 5 eggsSpecs sound great

Pros: Excellent power delivery with the aux in for the SLI and the second power input for the CPU. 2 Ethernet ports!

Cons: Only one usb 2.0 and one usb 3.0 slots for external headers. Both the aftermarket cooler for the processor has a mini usb to USB header that takes up the slot as well as my power supply... cant seem to have both without purchasing an addon for pci-e slos. Also 3.0 is poorly located and can be hard to get to with large PSUs.
It also seems DOA. It posts C-04-19-60-FF, is on for 1.5 total seconds then restarts. Called for customer support, and they said it could be the processor, replaced processor for the same x5960 and still the same problem. I've tried moving all my memory sticks around and tried different PSUs. Cant get anything to work...

Other Thoughts: If you are to buy this product, don't have a strict timeline. They say the board is well built in manufacturer comments but of course they'd say that... I've built a minimum of 100 computers for an old job I've had and only have had to RMA 4 components. (all being RAM sticks)
To EVGA: Please have a more in-depth booklet. I was working with a gigabyte x99 for someone had the booklet it came with had solid information for like 70 pages. Your 2 books combined was like 15 or so.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat board even after initial pitfalls

Pros: - Great performance
- Rock solid overclocking
- Top notch support

Cons: - I ordered this board with 4x G.Skill 16GB sticks of RAM. I received an error code 60 and it wouldn't post. Tried one stick in each slot with the same result. After several hours of troubleshooting I called EVGA. The call itself was very helpful as we determined that most likely I would need to update my BIOS to the latest revision before using that memory kit. I ended up ordering an 8GB stick from the HCL that EVGA provided. Once I installed this new memory it POSTED fine and allowed me to update. This allowed my original set to start working. I'm sure it happens but I've never had an issue like this happen before.

- The manual is pretty bad. It was generic for any Evga X99 board which obviously isn't very helpful for troubleshooting.
- There are two 8 Pin EPS plugs on this board. The manual doesn't address this but EVGA support advised me that the right one is primary and the left one is optional. This was documented nowhere.

Other Thoughts: - Even though there are some glaring issues that prevented a smooth install I still feel this is a great board. EVGA support is great and picked up immediately. They have 24/7 support and beyond that are generally helpful.
- I have been and will continue to be a huge fan of EVGA products. I had a little more trouble out of this build but now that it's running I feel it will be a very solid build.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat motherboard, best EVGA mobo I have had so far.

Pros: Really like the black and red color. Great support for all sorts of coolers. Updated this to firmware v1.19 as soon as I got it and had no problems getting my memory to 2666Mhz with the XMP profile at 1.3v. Great board for gaming and even better for productivity such as handling lots of large photos and processing very high quality videos (if you have the proper processor of course).

Cons: The only con I have on this board is the right angled USB3.0 header that is near the bottom right corner of the board (it's in the bottom right corner if you are looking at it top-down with the Sata ports facing the right). This made it so that I could not use the port with my Corsair Carbide 540 case, though this was more my fault as that was an oversight on my end so it is not enough to knock an egg off but right angled USB headers usually are not that great either.

Other Thoughts: As with any board make sure that you check the boards approved manufacturer list for memory. I did not have a problem with mine but some forget this. Also make sure that if you plan to occupy all 8 Dim slots make sure to get the quad channel kits that come with 8 sticks as getting 2 sets of four won't be the same (manufacturers will put together kits of ram that they know all play nicely together, separate kits cannot be guaranteed when put together).

5 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied!

Pros: Plenty of room for RAM and after market CPU fans, I have a Cooler Master EVO 212, fits just fine with plenty of room for my Corsair Vengeance Low Profile DDR 4 RAM. BIOS update to 1.18 was pretty easy to do. Adjusting the RAM settings to 3000mhz in the BIOS was simple, with one minor problem, see cons. The Mobo has a 5 or six slot fan controller, with an auto or manual setting mode.

Cons: to get the DDR 4 RAM settings to work correctly, you need to update to the latest BIOS version, I believe the newest one is 1.18. Once updated, the XMP profile was easy to select. However, I noticed the voltage was slightly off. I had to manually set to 1.35V like the RAM specs asked for, but the BIOS was showing 1.37V. I'm, no tech expert so I wasn't sure if this would cause problems so I adjusted the voltage to 1.33V. With that adjustment, BIOS now shows it at 1.352V. it sounds odd, but so far I have had no known performance issues, my games work great (Wither 3/DA: Inquisition).

Other Thoughts: The DDR 4 I am using is CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 CMK16GX4M4B3000C15

1 out of 5 eggsBad MOBO

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: Board would seldom not post on a warm restart. Then the board would not post at all. Bought a new X99 to replace the old but the new board wouldn't post at all. Brought my rig to a computer repair center, board is bad. Replaced with ASUS and has been running smoothly with all the same components. Tech mentioned EVGA is a good company for video cards, but new to the mobo business, and it shows.

Other Thoughts: Contacted customer support, no response.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent board

Pros: *Extremely quick install, components arranged logically and easy to reach.

*Power connector at a 90 degree angle to board made it easy to route power supply out of the way rather than the traditional straight up.

*Set the BIOS to UEFI and it detected the Samsung sm951 (M.2 package) SSD easily and windows 10 installed in under 10 minutes (from a USB thumb-drive).

*I was able to connect a corsair H110i GT liquid cooler without needing a backplane and it fit perfectly and very easily, with plenty of room around it and the memory banks.

*Overclocking in the BIOS is the easiest I have ever experienced (in over 100+ builds in the last 10 years). The settings are extremely straightforward, and the interface is easy to read and very easy to use.

*Currently have 64 gigs of DDR4 (2666 clocked to 2800) installed and it took zero effort to set the memory for that.

*Using an i7-5960X (8 core) was able to over-clock to 4.5ghz on this motherboard using the H110i GT with absolutely no effort or issues. There is actually room for a higher over-clock, but I really just don't need it for what I'm doing.

Cons: The one issue I have with this motherboard (and I knew it from the specs) is that there is only ONE usb 3.0 and ONE usb 2.0 header inside the case. So, if you are using a self contained liquid cooling setup (like the H110i gt) and also have a case like the Cooler master Cosmos II, you won't be able to connect all of the front-panel USB connectors.

Other Thoughts: Full system spec:
i7-5960X (8 core) O/C'd to 4.5ghz
Samsung SM951 256 gig SSD (M.2 package) for O/S (Windows 10)
64 gigs corsair dominator (PC2800)
Corsair H110i GT CPU cooler
EVGA 980 Ti GTX Hybrid
Cooler Master Cosmos II case

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Components - Minor Drawbacks

Pros: This motherboard is constructed of high quality components and worked right the first time out of the box with no fuss on overclocking the CPU and the RAM. The UEFI BIOS is stable, and toggle-able between three profiles, virtually eliminating risk of a bad flash. The extra CPU power connection increases the stability of more aggressive timing for CPU/memory.

The right angle connection for the motherboard main connector is excellent and the I/O shield is a very aesthetic touch. The styling is gorgeous.

The options in the UEFI BIOS (once you understand them) are highly customizable, allowing for very fine-grained control of the system.

Cons: The right angle USB header at the bottom of the board, on an EATX motherboard makes for challenging case selection due to interference with the USB connectors, especially if a high quality large gauge/heavy insulation USB header with stiff wires/insulation is chosen. Placing the USB header on the right hand side of the board down from the main motherboard connection pins (when facing the opening of a standard case design) would have been a better design for case compatibility.

Although the UEFI BIOS allows for very fine-grained control, it is not the most intuitive UEFI BIOS, and could be spruced up to be a bit more friendly to the less technical user.

There are not enough internal USB headers for my liking.

Other Thoughts: -1/2 egg for pros and cons of the UEFI BIOS - mixed review
-1/2 egg for pros and cons of the right angle headers and lack of more USB headers - mixed review
