2 out of 5 eggsM.2 Concerns

Pros: -All black PCB, socket, and caps is a welcome choice for theme builders.
-The Micro 2 employs a longer M.2 slot to accommodate standard SSDs - longer than the original X99 Micro.
-Simple EUFI (BIOS) has everything you need, nothing extra.
-Good price, in the X99 board range.
-Black aluminum I/O top cover, which is a slick addition for a blacked-out look.
-Rear I/O plate is also black.

Cons: -Every cold boot I made with an M.2 SSD failed. (Drive confirmed good on another board.) Restoring defaults corrected it, until the next cold boot.
-Audio isolation line is backlit by a white LED, but appears yellow - odd choice for this board. White is OK, yellow is not. You'll wind up disabling it.
-"Dark Mode", while claiming to disable "all LEDs" in the manual does not disable the boot code display in bright red. Several requests for EVGA to change this in their forums.
-No Windows fan control software included - you'll need Speedfan or similar, or keep jumping into BIOS to use their SMART fan settings.

Other Thoughts: I should have read previous reviews more closely before buying. I am not the only one to experience M.2 drops with this board. This price and aesthetics are great, but ultimately not worth it. This was my first non-Asus board ever (in 20 years), and I regret it.

About to start an RMA process.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality board likely rushed to market

Pros: I regret purchasing this motherboard. There are a couple reviews by Steve E and Steve S that are on target with my experience with this mb. I own the Micro and thought this would be an an upgrade for another build but no way no how this thing is not typical EVGA. I own many EVGA products, so receiving the first one with a cap floating in the bad was only to me a minor setback. The RMA process went smoothly enough, but had to put 229 collateral on the replacement until I was able to return it. Had to RMA the gskil RAM kit for a Corsair RAM kit due to incompatibility at a loss. Had to RMA the SATA interface M.2 drive at a loss, though I own that one. The M.2 slot on this board is PCIe only. Upgraded mb BIOS 3x, and now that I have a Samsung 950 PCIe 3.0 4x M.2 drive installed I'm having all sorts of boot up issues. One in four boots results in the bios looping or otherwise mb failing to load up, and the M.2 drive is just set to a data drive for game installs the OS isn't even installed on it nor is it set to boot. The M.2 support in the BIOS if enabled disables another PCI slot as well as limits RAM speed. At present with BIOS 103, if I plug in a SATA CD/DVD drive the mb wont post I have to reset the mb, go into the BIOS, save/exit, and hope on reboot it will post. At times I get an option to hit F12 which will let me in the BIOS but with defaults loaded. Other times text is partially displayed on the monitor and post fails completely. Too many issues to list.

Cons: - I seriously regret purchasing this motherboard. It's likely the most bug riddled mb I've owned, and I've owned a few dozen.
- EVGA has a few dead end forum posts where this mb is called out.
- Buggy BIOS and M.2 support.
- The rig I built with this mb isn't worthy to sit in my office.

Other Thoughts: Most products I purchase thru newegg are 4-5 egg rated. I work in engineering and know what an under developed product is, and this is one of them. At present, having toyed with this thing for 3 months, I'm debating ripping it out of my build and going with something else.

1 out of 5 eggsBad all the way!

Pros: None

Cons: Went dead after 48 hours! Puts me in an extremely inconvenient situation!

2 out of 5 eggsGlitchy as heck

Pros: All black color scheme

Cons: Using a M.2 drive (Samsung Pro 950) and now on my second Micro2 motherboard. Cold start boots are hit and miss. RMAed the first Micro2 with eVGA because after a successful Windows 10 install a and a couple days of use it would start up from cold start about 3 out of 10 power cycle attempts. Eventually the first board just wouldn't start Win10 on the M.2 drive, on a conventional SATA drive or a Win10 installation Flash drive. Current board is exhibiting the same behaviors. From cold start it may or may not boot. And getting into the BIOS sometimes works sometimes just hangs up with a dd code or 66 code. Again on my 2nd board and both were glitchy and hoping this one doesn't completely fail like the first one. eVGA tech support for first board was satisfactory with both of us thinking the MB was defective. Now I am thinking the MICRO2 is just a bad board. I would avoid buying if I were you....Two eggs because I am typing this while using this MB. Will revise to 1 egg if the 2nd board stops working.

1 out of 5 eggsnice board but

Pros: Small sleek. Good bios setup. Ran right out on the box. Windows 10 Friendly.

Cons: Ran it 2 weeks and it went Dead ! Board is lame with its raid set up.

Other Thoughts: Works well with Intel Xeon E-5 v3 Haswell and Avexir Core Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Desktop Memory Model AVD4UZ121331508G-4COB.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: The motherboard is brilliant, but I want to review the newegg service. Outstanding!
I ordered this motherboard from another store originally. It arrived (on the other side of the world) after 1 month and didn't show any signs of life at all. I'm still trying to get my money back from the seller.
I ordered this one, which was $50 less, from newegg on the Friday and it got to me the next Tuesday. This is USA to New Zealand!

I'm now a newegg fanboy.
Well done newegg and thankyou for your outstanding service.

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: A bit about the board.
It's got everything I could want in a mobo. Nice looks, USB 3.1, M.2 super fast version and a home for my i7 5960x
Enough connectivity for my CAD and with a bit of case modding, will fit into my inwin 901.
An Architects dream machine.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent MATX board

Pros: Simple black and white board with no annoying bright colors and a very minimalist design. Looks great with Crucial Ballistix Elite memory. Solid overclocking, I was able to get my 5820k to 4.5 w/ 1.295v. BIOS is very intuitive.

Cons: USB 3.0 header is still on bottom right. Not a big deal but if you want to run SLI you will need an adapter to continue using your front USB 3.0 ports. Wish adapter was bundled with the board.

Other Thoughts: System specs:
i7 5820K @ 4.5ghz w/ 1.295v
EVGA 980 Ti Reference SC
16GB Crucial Ballistix Elite 2666 DDR4
850 Evo 500GB
EVGA 850 G2 PSU
Corsair Air 240

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than original

Pros: Works well. Nice bios. 5 PWM headers can be switched to DC. E-Leet Utility works great shows all voltages EXCEPT Ring/Cache!
Maybe I have a good chip 4.7 1.35v 5820k 4.5 1.23v or its the board.
Onboard led debug.
Isolated audio.

Cons: Max ram speed 3200 + bclk so maybe 3300ish.
E-Leet Utility almost perfect. I just want to use 1 monitoring program PLEASE EVGA almost there, need operating RING/CACHE voltages.
Why are voltages in bios in 2 different places whats the point?
Cant use the io cover when a gpu that has a backplate is installed??? Geez. Little petty things but make a difference.

Other Thoughts: I had the original, this seems better especially with Eleet Utility working now for X99. Better ram clips don't interfere with gpu.
Took away on board voltage check points.
Added SATA and usable M.2 express slots original was nearly useless.
USB 3.1 type c = why? Just put a type a or both.
Bottom fan headers point down.

5 out of 5 eggsA decent MATX X99 board

Pros: Very stable with a 5930K and 32gb of Corsair LPX. I'm running this in a relatively small Silverstone PS07 case and it has really turned out to be a powerful little system. I have had no issues with USB ports, blue screens, etc. I used the 8.1 64 bit drivers with Windows 10 and have no issues. There are 5 fan headers on the board and I actually split the chassis fan header to run the two 120mm fans on the Corsair H75. This is good because I had one other MATX board that did not like that configuration and struggled to run the two fans. The board layout is decent and it has 10 SATA ports plus the PCIE m.2 slot. The PCIE spacing is logical.

Cons: The manuals are relatively skimpy and there are two of them to cover one board? Not sure why they broke it up like that. The USB 3 internal header is near the front panel header, which is a bit odd, but I could make that work. The fan headers near the audio headers are right angle and I actually had to modify my case to get a decent fit, wish they had made those like the ones on the original x99 Micro. There is no speaker or speaker header I'm assuming due to the LED readout near the 24p power connector. If you use the m.2 slot, it disables the third PCIE slot. The manual states you will lose USB port 5 but does not have port 5 labeled in the manual, and then you actually do not lose it, only the third PCIE slot.

Other Thoughts: My gripes with this board are fairly minimal. The right angle fan header thing was a big deal due to having to modify the case. They could have done a better job with the manual in specifically labeling the ports and making that easier to find. The best thing about the board is the stability it has. We will have to see how reliable it stays, but as of right now, it is humming along fine and is my primary system
