Features
The design is based around a Broadcom BCM2835 SoC, which includes an ARM1176JZF-S 700 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, and 512 Megabytes of RAM. This revision B+ board features four mounting holes for easy installation, a built-in reset circuit, and can be powered via the USB data ports. The design does not include a built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, instead relying on an microSD card for booting and long-term storage. This board is intended to run Linux kernel based operating systems.

The Raspberry Pi uses Linux-kernel based operating systems. The Raspberry Pi does not come with a real-time clock, so an OS must use a network time server, or ask the user for time information at boot time to get access to time and date info for file time and date stamping. However a real time clock (such as the DS1307) with battery backup can be easily added via the I2C interface.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: IT DID NOT COME WITH 8 GB microSD card. It specifically states it comes with 8 GB but mine is showing 1.43 GB.
Update: My bad! After some experiments I was able to format it back to 7.33 gb. Now, my web server is up and running. Thanks.

Other Thoughts: Thank you for the follow up.

5 out of 5 eggsLinux Fans?

Pros: Simple as pie. You plug in a mouse, keyboard, Ethernet, hdmi, and the tiny little 8gb microSD card and then plug in the power cord and you're set. Once it boots up you will land on a menu that allows you to select which OS you would like. There are about 9 options. Raspbian is the Debian 7 Wheezy for the Pi, select this if you are new. Let it boot and that's it.

Cons: No case but just buy a 10 dollar case on here. I got this one and it really is great. Also looks quite nice.

Other Thoughts: Arch Linux Arm is what I have been selecting from the list of possible OS installs and so I have spent a fair bit of time messing around in that OS. If you choose to use Arch Linux Arm, don't give up learning it! It is NOT the same as other linux OS's but you can do some amazing things with it.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat fun but hold out for Pi2

Pros: It is a hobbyists device and a great educational tool. If you have kids interested in technology get 'em one. I've purchased many. Great fun. My Pi 2's arrived yesterday and I can't wait to fire those babies up.

Cons: As of ~2/15/2015 the Raspberry Pi foundation released the Raspberry Pi 2. It has a 900 mHz quad core processor (this original has 700 Mhz single core) and 1 GB of RAM (vs. 500MB). It's priced the same as the original and is compatible with all the programs (you need a different kernel to boot from, but that's not a biggie). There is no reason in the world to buy this older version.

Other Thoughts: I've heard the Microsoft is going to have a version of Windows 10 running on it!

5 out of 5 eggsCan't beat it for the price

Pros: Put XBMC on it and it is the best little media player. Also use it for control stepper motors and other projects.

Cons: You have to purchase a license to enable mpeg2 and windows media codecs. It's only about $5 UDS, but still an additional cost. The Raspberry PI 2 was just released. It has twice the ram and is a quad core as opposed to the single core. Having said that, most places have them on back order, and the shipping costs are generally $9-11, and it doesn't include the micro sd card.

Other Thoughts: So to sum it up it's a great little device. The RPI 2 has better specs and the same MSRP, but if you can get the RPI B+ on sale or close out, pick one up. You won't be sorry.

5 out of 5 eggsJust want I was looking for.

Pros: Quite an amazing piece of technology. Been looking at getting one of these for quite some time, and I can say that I'm very pleased with my purchase on this one. Nothing was broken and it works completely fine. Just wish it had a bit more processing power, but that's just me ^_^

Cons: Only comes with a HDMI Output, so you're stuck either getting a tv/monitor with an HDMI Input or buying a seperate HDMI to VGA adapter, or a HDMI to DVI cord if you don't have any monitor/tv with an HDMI port.

Other Thoughts: Love tech like this. Very small and compact, and it's very affordable. :)
