Features
The Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video.

The updated Pi 2 Model B design is based around a Broadcom BCM2836 SoC, which includes an Quad Core ARM7 900 MHz processor, VideoCore IV GPU, and 1 Gigabyte of RAM. This revision Pi 2 Model B board features four mounting holes for easy installation, a built-in reset circuit, and can be powered via the USB data ports. The design does not include a built-in hard disk or solid-state drive, instead relying on an microSD card for booting and long-term storage. This board is intended to run Linux kernel based operating systems.

The Raspberry Pi uses Linux-kernel based operating systems. The Raspberry Pi does not come with a real-time clock, so an OS must use a network time server, or ask the user for time information at boot time to get access to time and date info for file time and date stamping. However a real time clock (such as the DS1307) with battery backup can be easily added via the I2C interface.

- Ethernet: 10/100 Ethernet Port
- Video Output: HDMI and Composite
- Sound: L/R Stereo
- Operating System: Uses microSD card slot to load O/S
- Digital interfaces: 2 onboard ribbon slots for Camera and Display
- GPIO: 40 GPIO pins, backwards compatible to B and B+ board

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little computer

Pros: - ARMv7
- Quad core 900 Mhz processor
- 1 GB RAM
- 4 USB ports
- Same exact form factor as it's predecessor
- Low Power for "full" computer

Cons: - No USB 3.0
- 100Mbps port versus a 1Gbps port

I knew this going into the purchase, therefore no eggs deducted.

Other Thoughts: I am using this board with a 64 GB microSD card. I am triple booting OSMC, Raspbian and RetroPie using Noobs. I wanted a desktop, gaming system, and home theater PC all in one. All operating systems boot and respond very quickly.

Playing games and watching full HD is handled easily by this board. I have been playing NES, Genesis and SNES games in RetroPie without a hitch. Full HD streaming in OSMC has been great and I haven't had any issues with buffering or stuttering with the 100 Mbps NIC.

This board works "out of the box" with Logitech F310 gamepad in RetroPie as well as the iPazzPort 2.4Ghz USB Wireless Mini Keyboard that I got here off of Newegg. The keyboard works in Raspbian and OSMC only as RetroPie does not support keyboards with the initial install.

This little guy is replacing an aging and loud (the fan) Dell Zino HD home theater PC. I bought a transparent case for the board and some heat sinks to go on top of the chips. I am currently not using any type of fan and don't believe I need to. This puts out a lot less heat than the traditional PC did.

I was waiting to jump into the Raspberry Pi market but wasn't happy with past specs. This little board has finally gotten my respect.

* If you are wondering how to install 3 operating systems onto this guy try searching "triple boot raspberry pi" on the internet.

5 out of 5 eggsMuch better than RPI 1

Pros: ARMv7 instead of ARMv6. Quad core instead of single core. 1GB RAM vs 512 MB RAM. 4 USB ports instead of 2. Higher CPU frequency. RPI2 can run Kodi quickly. Kodi on RPI1 was horribly slow. There are sooooo many different software distros and packages you can run on this tiny computer. Amazing!

Cons: Minor issues considering the cost of this product: the Ethernet port is on the USB bus. Ethernet is 100Mbps, not gigabit. No eSata or USB3 to hook up an external disk and getting decent speeds.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these. One to run OpenElec Kodi + Pulsar so I can stream torrents directly to my 47 inch TV without having to wait for the download to finish. The second unit is going to control my water sprinklers using an OpenSprinklerPi board. In my company we used 20 RPI 1's to control fuel inventory levels at gas stations. The sky's the limit!

5 out of 5 eggsStandard Pi 2, Poor shipping materials by Newegg.

Pros: This is your standard Pi 2 model. Works as expected and is a wonderful upgrade to the Pi 1 model.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Terrible packing! Arrived crushed in a padded envelope. The pi survived and will keep it. Im a premier member and, along with another item, I got the expensive 3 day shipping. The other item arrived in a nice box (router) but the pi came same time in a crushed padded envelope! Beware, you may have problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Extremely versatile
Low power

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Didn't realize there is no firmware and thought there was an issue when I powered it on with no SD and got no display.

Used Win32Diskimager to write the Raspbarian OS BIN to the SD, then it booted to setup and expanded the filesystem beyond the bin image.

Used this with an EDIMAX WiFi dongle, to use the PI as a fun wireless bridge.

It serves it's purpose as a bridge just fine. I had used another one as an MTA for a printer that didn't support TLS.

You can do just about anything with these, I love them!

5 out of 5 eggsMuch faster than the origional

Pros: It is a Raspberry Pi on steroids.

Cons: Unable to withstand stupidity (See other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Had to order a new one after a computer tower tipped over and crushed it. It appeared, visually, to have made it...but the lack of booting says otherwise.

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive, inexpensive and mighty

Pros: Easily configured with Openelec on 32GB flash. Streaming movies to a 1080p monitor is amazingly clear and free of sputtering. I am impressed such a small package could be so powerful.

Cons: None really. Wouldn't mind 8 cpus at twice the CPU speed, twice the memory at the same price.

4 out of 5 eggsMuch faster than original models

Pros: Fantastic device overall. If you had an earlier generation with either 256 or 512 mb of ram and a 700 mhz single core processor you will be amazed how much faster this one is with 1 gig of ram and a 900 mhz quad core arm7. If you have been holding off for a while on buying one, now is the time it will probably be a while until a big jump like this is made again. They might make minor improvements in design but probably no big hardware improvements for the near future.

Cons: Only con is Newegg shipped this in a fairly thin envelope and my box got pretty smashed up.. I was lucky my pi was okay, unlike one of the other comments here. Also retail should be 35 dollars and Newegg is selling it for 40. For the extra price I hope Newegg will consider using a box with better packing to prevent the customer from having to pay extra for shipping it back, as well as it would save Newegg some unnecessary RMA's.

If this wasn't the case I would have given 5 stars.

Other Thoughts: I purchased a new power supply for the Pi 2 Model B since it is slightly more power hungry than the older models and it seems to be working well.
