Pros: Small yet powerful, works great in a media center application. Running win 7/ Boxee beta (beta has graphic acceleration) on it and it handles every thing like a champ. Other than a nagging hardware issue (see cons) its been great.

Cons: The board I received went defective after using for a few days. I'm running 2x2gb sticks of ram, and 9/10 times the board won't boot with both sticks. After plenty of troubleshooting it was determined to be the board. Waiting on the rma now, so we'll see if that fixes it.

Other Thoughts: Some times the video can take a min to catch up with its self at the beginning of an MKV. After it does, it seems to play flawless. I have yet to throw 1080p at it, but 720p plays just fine.

Pros: Simply the best Atom board at the time I bought it. High feature level, rock solid stability. A bit pricey but worth it.

If you are worried that it won't high-end play games well, you are correct. That isn't the intent of the Atom CPU lineup at this time.

If all you need is a Web surfing station, playing Flash games online, or to build a reliable home server, this is a strong contender for your dollars. You can build a very quiet and efficient system with this as the core.

Cons: None for my application.

Pros: Pretty cheap, small form factor, easy setup, low power consumption, lightning fast gigabit ethernet. BIOS supports easy overclocking and unlinked memory frequency.

Cons: Only 3 SATA ports. Does not support port multipliers. The on board wireless is terrible. File transfers less than 1 MB/s. I ended up having to run an ethernet cable. Can't update the BIOS from Linux. The mini PCI slot does not support any devices except the wireless card it comes with, confirmed by admins on the Zotac forums. (I tried replacing it with the Intel card from my laptop... no dice.)

Running Ubuntu 9.10 with XBMC. XBMC+VDPAU works ok, but not perfectly unless you overclock. Using Gnome Mplayer with VDPAU, everything plays fine. Make sure you have updated Nvidia drivers, older versions will constantly run the GPU at its max power saving frequency.

I also installed StepMania and a Red Octane metal dance mat. Works like a charm. Run it with a script that calls "pasuspender ./stepmania" in order to get audio. You may have to manually identify the audio device in the StepMania config file to get it to come out over the right interface (HDMI, S/PDIF, or analog).

Works great as a NAS too. 110 MB/s on gigabit ethernet interface (remember to increase MTU and TX window size) using Samba.

Pros: Put this in a MI-100 250W case. 4GB RAM. No problems whatsoever, everything fit perfectly. Installed Ubuntu 9.10 without a hitch. It's reporting 37 watts at idle and the CPU says about 76 degrees at idle. Using it strictly for streaming audio and flaacs and it's just what I was after.

Cons: None, really. Might have been cheaper, but I plead the economy.

Other Thoughts: Love the low power consumption. The case is nearly dead quiet. I might try one of these as a server for my home network.

Pros: Got this to replace an old dell that ran my Skype phone. In a Antec ISK 300-65 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case running on a 65w Power supply I figured I couldnt go wrong getting a media center as well for far less power consumption (Since its on 24/7). After Installing Windows 7 RC (the trial version) I looked under device manager and saw that it registered 4 cores........... figured it was just a flaw of the beta OS and dismissed it. Well it was time to get rid of the beta, so I installed a Vista 64 Home Premium I had lying around, updated fully, then downloaded a multi core gadget and low and behold, it is still registering Quad Core there and in device manager. Running the Experience Index and all 4 cores seem to be tested fully! Not bad!

Cons: Was a little choppy streaming media on Windows 7 RC, but seems to be much smoother running fully updated Vista, before and after I changed the Northbridge FSB to 667 to bring it up to a 2.0Ghz as recommended by others.

Pros: Nice package and form factor. Reasonably intuitive bios. Wake on USB seems to work great with my SIIG wireless keyboard and mouse.

Cons: Mini PCIx slot is too close to GPU to allow any mini PCIx SSD upgrades.

Other Thoughts: Tried to install a Super Talent mini pci-x SSD hd and it didn't work out because the GPU is located too close to the PCI-x to allow it.

I understand there isn't a TON of real estate on a mini-itx form factor motherboard, but still a pain.

Also, ZOTAC's bios upgrade software is a complete joke (at least from windows 7)

Other Thoughts: I'm unable to edit my December 11 2009 review where I mentioned that several applications including Photoshop CS4 wasn't sluggish with this motherboard+Atom N330 CPU. I should make a correction here:

I recently did more in-depth Photoshop CS4 work that involves 10+ layers with effects. There is a 1-second lag after every mouse click and keypress. The brush and eraser tool is also laggy. It's still quite usable for building my website.. but if you're a pro Photoshopper then I would recommend a faster CPU and Zotac's GF9300-I-E mini itx board.

Other image editing programs like GIMP run fine with no lag. Apps like MS Office 2007, FireFox, FileZilla FTP, Apache/Tomcat test environment, all running simultaneously have no lag. I spend 10+ hours a day on my computer and it suits me fine.

I am not giving this product less than 5 stars because the Atom N330 CPU is not designed for heavy apps like Photoshop CS4 and modern games as well. It works great for practically everything else.

Pros: I have two Zotac IONITX boards, one as a HTPC and one as a workstation. I'm happy with the HTPC like others, but if you're curious about office use, read on:

I run Photoshop CS4, 3 different web browsers, MS Excel and a couple misc. apps all running simultaneously. I was expecting some sluggishness but I'm perfectly comfortable working. It's not as sluggish as 2 or 3 reviewers make it out to be.

4GB RAM is recommended for heavy office use, and it doesn't cost much more than 2GB. If you install the stock fan and if your case has decent ventilation (I'm using a M350 case), you can stably overclock the Atom N330 to 2.0GHz (from 1.6Ghz). How to overclock: Enter BIOS > Chipset > Change FSB from 533 to 667. That's it. Google it if you need picture instructions.

LOW power draw. I'm running two 19" LCD monitors and my UPS has a 29 minute run-time with this Zotac computer if the power goes out. My old computer with a 400W power supply had a 14 minute run-time.

Cons: - Not fully 64-bit compatible due to Atom limitation.

- You can install 4GB sticks but you'll only see max. 3GB RAM in your OS, regardless of how much memory the GPU is leeching. This is an issue with the Atom N330 chip or the BIOS memory mapping. Zotac forums has more information.

- Just for sh!ts and giggles, I downloaded Steam and a bunch of games with it. TF2 is somewhat playable but choppy even on low graphic settings. Older games like Civilization III and Railroad Tycoon run fine.

Other Thoughts: - Installed 2x2GB RAM. Windows XP, Win 7 32-bit, and Win 7 64-bit all recognize 3GB RAM. With 4GB physical RAM, 3GB is reserved to the OS, up to 0.5GB is reserved to your graphics chipset, and the remaining memory is wasted (not a big deal). Consider sticking with a 32-bit OS if you use this motherboard; I have two old programs that failed to run in a 64-bit OS.

- I purchased a Pico PSU power supply for this board. However for convenience and lower cost, it may be best to choose the IONITX-A-U that is identical to IONITX-D-E except it comes with a power supply.

- Add a SSD to improve program load time significantly. MS Word 2007 load time with regular laptop hard drive: 9.5 seconds. With SSD: 1.3 seconds!! The load time for Adobe Premier Elements is reduced from 24.7 seconds to 12.2 seconds.

- If you need "real" performance and games with a Mini ITX board, consider the Zotac GF9300-I-E that supports a Core 2 Quad CPU. The non-Atom CPU will suck more power.
