1 out of 5 eggs...still NO RAID!!!

Pros: Zotac has a tech support department. (or do they?) newegg.com has a customer service department. (Yes, they do!)

Cons: Zotac's tech support replied:
BRIO PC - OEM,

I have received reports of the RAID feature not completely operating on some ZOTAC G45ITX-B-E MBs. Our engineers are investigating the cause of Intel Matrix Storage Manager ROM not populating after POST but before OS load. I are reviewing the BIOS structure to insure it is properly addressing the RAID controller. Please keep checking our Website for BIOS Updated which may address this BUG. I recommend not using the RAID feature if possible or returning the MB to the vendor while a resolution is located. I apologies if this BUG has cause any inconvenience.

Other Thoughts: Vanna with newegg.com customer service issued us an RMA without fees! Thanks Vanna! Zotac won't be on our A-List, ever. Zotac should take a lesson from newegg and own the customer service experience. They should at least post their own response on this site.

1 out of 5 eggsNO RAID!!!

Pros: It works for (almost) anything but RAID.

Cons: RAID does not work. Digital video outs do not work when using a sound card in the pcie slot; you have to use the VGA converter.

Other Thoughts: After owning this for a little over a month, I decided to pop in a couple 750GB discs for some RAID 0 fun. The RAID BIOS is not available, and it matters not what setting you choose: ACHI, RAID, or IDE. I'm sorry I spent the extra cash for the board with RAID. Stick with brands you know and trust. This is our first and could be our last Zotac board. This board deserves zero eggs. Hopefully Zotac customer service can redeem their brand name. Dominic at tech support advised us to email support@zotacusa.com. We will see if they actually respond with a solution. I will post again what we find out.

1 out of 5 eggsTRASH Product!!

Pros: It looks nice.......

Cons: I purchased this with the plan of using it for my NAS. However, it can't actually DO RAID. The actual BIOS doesn't load and when you contact tech support they have NO idea what you are talking about. STAY away if you actually want to use RAID. Also, BIOS overall is trash and buggy.

Other Thoughts: Should have purchased anything else from any other brand!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsFickle-Followup

Pros: Researched, apparently some produced w/ inferior bios in early productions. Replacement for originally ordered motherboard apparently solid and stable.

Cons: Not good w/ stock-cooler, the push-pins are not easy to get into place(too high). Went w/ a Rosewill cooler that had a solid metal mounting base & backplate.

Other Thoughts: Regret the harshness of prior review, early productions are often a bit buggy, when the next update to the bios comes out for this model, it'll be lethal.

2 out of 5 eggsBuggy

Pros: Only board I've seen with 8GB ram support and raid in a ITX package.

Cons: Buggy board. Says it supports 1333. Ordered 8GB of mushkin at 10666 and it wouldn't post. Ram worked fine in a friends board and his ram out of his Dell running at 10600 worked in mine so it looks to have memory compatibility issues.

Raid bios would not come up. After fighting with bios settings/clearing/etc i called zotac only to have the support people tell me there is a bug in the bios and raid does not work. Come on! There are no bios updates on zotac's site and the existing one is 3 months old. How long are they going to keep selling a board with advirtised raid support and not offer a bios that gets it working?

Other Thoughts: Too bad the board is so buggy. Would have been a awesome board for my chenbro NAS/Media center.

2 out of 5 eggsFickle

Pros: Great features, G45, wifi, DDR3, etc....

Cons: Short-lived & fickle bios.. Had for less then a week and it just froze up while web-surfing(3 pages open), after reboot no display signal on ANY ports (onboard or card). This would be a great board, if it was just solid/stable.

Other Thoughts: Went through all the motions of resetting the bios, cmos jumper, battery, even removed the expansion grfx card.. Once dead, it's dead.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't max it out yet

Pros: It accepts quad core Xeons! What a surprise! That means just about any late generation C2Ds and C2Qs will work as well. Jam packed with goodies built right into the board. Good place to stash your leftover socket 775 chips for one last hurrah.

Cons: Doesn't support 8GB 2x4GB DDR3. OCZ Gold Edition PC3-10666 2x4GB sticks (OCZ3G1333LV8GK) didn't work with this board even when updated with the latest BIOS (I0303FZT.rom) straight from the official site.

Other Thoughts: A nice board for my retired Xeon X3380 to grow old with as a part of a miniature gaming box. Hopefully 2x4GB support will be in place soon. Also, hope that the components will withstood the test of time.

5 out of 5 eggsg45itx-b-e

Pros: if your building a wee little lan box this is a better option than the 9300 itx i own both and the g45 runs cooler and overclocks "slightly" better like 150-200mhz better but thats with a q9450. i really only bought it cause its got so many sata ports compared to my 2 on my 9300 rev a.

Cons: Newegg has it saying DDR2 1333mhz its actually DDR3 which is sweet but costed me more money and time when i got it in. just like the 9300 this board is really anoying with changing timings. 99% of the time if u touch the default timings it just stops posting or crashes in windows. i could change frequencys a lil bit but not enough to get any real performance out of it. I have mushkin 1600mhz 7-7-6-18 2gb modules that i couldnt get the timings below 9-9-9-24 :( and 1333mhz. but not a biggy ddr3 still feels a lil more responsive than ddr2 in the 9300.

Other Thoughts: I still really like this board and will build a i5-670 itx machine whenever zotac makes a board that supports raid 0 in otherwords not the h55 chipset. I got lucky and got a i5-670 in a bundle for a huge discount localy but it just sits here waiting.
