1 out of 5 eggsBAD ASUS

Pros: The "promise" of much faster download and transfer speeds.

Cons: Only two slots

Other Thoughts: Like everyone else, I bought this because I trusted the ASUS name.

Like everyong else who experienced problems, I found ASUS useless and uncaring.

5 out of 5 eggsworks on non Asus mobos

Pros: works just fine on Supermicro H8DME2, with nforce 3600 chipset (professional version of nForce 4). Win7 install does not require any driver, it is already recognized as a generic SATA III ahci driver in device manager after install, you need to install the Marvell drivers after, chipset Marvell 9123. Benches Mushkin Chronos 60GB SATA II SSD at 327MB/s (mobo has only pcie 1.0). USB 3.0 controller installation is needed after windows loads otherwise is not recognized.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none

5 out of 5 eggsbought 3 and all work great

Pros: drivers auto install for the Asus M4a79t deluxe motherboard. I am able to run vertex 3 sata3 ssd as boot drive with no driver install. Motherboard drivers recognize card and auto install. I can see a noticable jump in speed with this card. I can benchmark with crystall benchmark around 350mb/s read, similar performance to other AMD sata3 motherboards benchmarks that I have seen. For the Asus M4a79t deluxe motherboard it works.

Cons: discontinued product, can't find them anymore, they worked great for me.

Asus should bundle a front panel usb3 port extension cable or an external cable to bring the usb3 ports to the front of the pc.

Other Thoughts: Windows performance index was a 7.1 with a kingston sata2 ssd drive, but it jumped to 7.9 with the asus u3s6 card with the vertex 3 sata 3.

1 out of 5 eggspain!!!

Pros: cheap

Cons: 1) a huge pain to get "working"
2) never got USB3 to fully work in Win7-x64
3) one of the USB3 connectors stopped working after 2 week
4) this card gives me the exact same speedas my mobo's USB2.0 connector

Other Thoughts: 1) never tried the SATA connector
2) got it to work and give me full USB3.0 speed in WinXP SP3

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Great idea!

Cons: So far I have been unable to configure a Windows 7 x64 system to boot from this (MSI X58 Pro). In fact, my current system won't even recognize the board as a secondary SATA controller (error 10, unable to start up device). ASUS' web site has a total lack of info on how to set this up as a boot device (i.e. what drivers to install during Windows 7 installation).

Other Thoughts: I have successfully flashed the bios from ASUS.
I have tried a large number of attempts to get Win7 x64 to install to this device. I have the same experience every time: the OS installs to it, then locks up the first time it boots to this device.
Others have noted that it is hard to find the correct drivers. I've tried everything on Asus' site. I tried a few drivers from Marvell directly. No dice.
The installation "directions" from Asus & incl. in the box are worthless. No real info - such as, how to get it to boot or install Win7 to it properly.
I am sure that my Corsair C300 256 SSD is fine - it's at its latest firmware rev 006, and it boots fine from the mobo's SATA II controller.
This is a fantastic idea, but the follow through so far sucks a ton. No good info on how to get this thing to work properly, no good drivers supplied either in box or on website. Pretty lame. :(

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: No problems for me at all. I just installed it, plugged in an sata drive and away we go. The USB 3 is working great for a hardware raid box I just got as well. Fast throughput. I thought I would have to install the card that came with the RAID box but plugged it into the USB on this card and everything is working fine. No muss. No fuss.

Cons: None - card works flawlessly for me.

Other Thoughts: I imagine there are incompatible chip sets out there but I'm running an i7 processor on an ASUS T6 board and all is well.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Physically easy to install, Priced correct, Two for one card,

Cons: Included CD not totally auto install (you have to install BOTH drivers), MUST use a "4" slot.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT install "only" the USB3 driver on CD. Win 7/64 will install some unwanted sata 6 controller driver if you don't install the NEC controller driver on the CD before Windows has a chance.

3 out of 5 eggsdoesn't run at usb 3 speeds

Pros: good add on card, initialized, compatible with non asus boards, says something weird like no disk but i don't know what that means.

Cons: can not get usb to run at usb 3 speeds win 7 x64, runs at usb 2 speeds. Installed drivers and connected usb 3 compatible device and ss cable, still get transfer rates of 25-30 MB/s I mean i now you won't get full usb 3 5gbps but i should expect at least 100 MB/s speeds. Not sure sata is running at sata 6gpbs, seems to run at sata 3 gbps even with sata 6gpbs compatible hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Nvidia Chipset mobos with SSD issues..

Pros: This was the perfect solution to Nvidia Chipset mobos that do not perform with SSD's.
I don't really need USB 3.0.... But I got it. yay.

Cons: none really, not that I have found...

Other Thoughts: This was the perfect solution to my ASUS P5N-D 750i mobo, I was having issues with my new Crucial C300 64gb Sata III SSD. Mobo would only read SATA I for whatever reason, I would have been happy if it had read Sata II. Instead I bought this card and now have SATA III 6.0Gb/s... EXCELLENT!!! EASY SOLUTION.
