1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: cheap after rebate... apparently you get what you pay for.

Cons: Installed card
power up run installer
NOT showing up in win explorer
device mgr property page has errors.
EVGA support ticket in queue....

Property page
1) problem code 0000000A
2) This device is not installed (error 10)
3) There is no driver selected for this device info set or element (E0000203)

Other Thoughts: My evga mobo is fabulous still after nearly 2 years. This add on is a real big disappointment... Their FAQ is thin.

Rant... I hate vendors that push customers to the forums to provide support. EVGA DOES NOT DO IT. EVGA has good support!!

Forums can be wonderful IF MODERATORS STAY ON TOP OF THE POSTS... TOO MANY TIMES outdated info and posts by ignorant / opinionated users waste my time. Then there are the jegoffs that post links to their products... What happened to integrity and honesty... and pride in a good reliable product... Again EVGA is a solid company that does it's customers right... I just hate waiting SO FRICKING MUCH... That is why I want my USB 3.0 NOW!

2 out of 5 eggsNo Joy

Pros: Installed easy. Worked fine at USB 2.0 speeds. Powers through PCIe slot. Double the read speed of USB 2.0 on my system.

Cons: Would lose the external hard drive in 2-8 minutes on a USB 3.0 read. The only way to pull it back up would be to disable/enable the device, or restart the computer. So it worked well for small files, but would drop out on large transfers.

Other Thoughts: Went with this EVGA model for the company name, but they should stick to video cards. Also chose the EVGA because it did not need the extra connection, but I'm guessing that's where my USB 3.0 failures came from. Tried drivers from website, different ports, different drives, different docks. No joy. NewEgg RMA'd flawless. Replaced with a powered Rosewill RC-505 card, which works perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little piece of hardware.

Pros: .
-Slim profile
-PCI-E (excellent if you have an x1 PCI-E, doesnt take up one of your full x16/8 slots.)
-No power connectors needed, it draws from the port as it should.
-Easy installation, I chose to download the drivers off of EVGA's website for the most recent build.

Cons: .
-Not a con so much as an installation concern. The card bracket as mentioned by another reviewer appears to be sized a bit funny. The card still slides into the slot for me, but it doesnt go in as much as it could. This doesnt affect the function of the card though.
-Again, not a detractor from performance, but the labeling on the bracket for USB1 USB2 are upside down as well as the ports themselves. It doesn't matter to me because I never need to look at them.

Other Thoughts: I don't have any 3.0 devices, I bought this because I needed extra USB ports for some incoming hardware and I figured I would get something sort of future proofed. I like knowing that I have th 3.0 ports for any devices I get in the future to support them. They will also match up with any new motherboard I get with 3.0 ports built in. So I'm satisfied!

3 out of 5 eggsWorks great, but metal bracket TOO LONG

Pros: This is a very nice add-on card. It works exactly as advertised, and now I will have the ability to take full advantage of USB 3.0 (Super-Speed) products when they become widely available.

Cons: The card is not positioned properly on the metal bracket so that it doesn't seat completely (it doesn't seat at all TBA) when the card is mounted over the backplate opening. I thought I would have to use a hacksaw to shorten the top of the bracket, but instead, I just bent it about 10 degrees toward the backplate using a large pair of pliers. This took a bit of trial and error, and doesn't reflect well on the measurements and testing done by EVGA.

Also, after all that work, you only have two extra ports to show for it.

Other Thoughts: EVGA really needs to check their measurements on this card, because it clearly did not fit properly...and I was using an EVGA motherboard and a Silverstone case (which is featured on the special PC Builder's Bible issue of PC Gamer). This is unacceptable for a high-end consumer product.

1 out of 5 eggsNot so much on my MSI X58 Pro-E

Pros: Cheap and very fast access speed for a Ventec NexStar 3.0 hard drive dock if it works as hyped.

Cons: When I access my 2.5 drive using the dock connected to the USB 3.0 card, it maps a non-accessible drive to an un-allocated partition (truCrypt) and another drive to the boot partition. It disconnects and then reconnects them again using different drive letters, repeating this until all my drive letters are taken up.

When I connect the dock to the USB 2.0 ports it works as expected.

Other Thoughts: I have opened a Support ticket with EVGA so I'll see if they can resolve my issue or let me know if my mobo is compatible. I'll wait to see if I have to RMA this or not...

5 out of 5 eggsGood UBS 3.0 Add-on

Pros: Adds USB 3.0 to my EVGA X58 Classified Mobo.
Works just like it should. FAST!
Relatively inexpensive.
Doesn't require and separate power connection like other USB 3.0 cards.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this directly from EVGA when it came out. Glad to see it on Newegg.
