4 out of 5 eggsU,2 to M.2

Pros: does just as it should without probelm

Cons: I Really don't like that the cable direction is directly out would be better to the right so that it can us proper cable management and it not impacted by other cards or stresses on the cable

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Got it for free with my Purchase.
Worked as advertised

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Would be nice if the connection port pointed towards my hard drive bays, but its more universal this way.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks - SAD it exists, Best choice for consumers

Pros: If you want to run the Intel 750, which is the fastest consumer hard drive on the market, this is the way to do that.

Note there is also a PCIE form factor of the drive that accomplishes the same goal. The trick is quite a few motherboards are sharing lanes on the 2 16X slots, such that using one of those slots takes the lanes on your graphics card down to 8X.

If you want to keep 16X or you want SLI you need to either use this slot or purchase a board capable of 3 way SLI.

Cons: NOTE - THIS APPLIES TO ALL CARDS IN THIS FORM FACTOR.

A M.2 to Molex IpassHD connector adapter board reduces the signal integrity and increases the risk of corrupt packets, slower data, or requires a shorter cable.

Why?
1. The 2 connectors do not natively mate to each other so you have to do layer transitions. This causes noise similar to running a microwave next to a FM radio.
2. You have a connector transition followed by a short trace then another connector transition. This causes signal reflections similar to trying to swim against the current in the ocean.

PCB manufactures should bite the bullet on this connector and just place it on the board. There is no doubt that they have the lanes available in the 170 chipset. Saves user complications and prevents returns because people cannot get drives to work.

Other Thoughts: The title of this card is incorrect. The connector for the cable is commonly referred to as MINI-SASHD. That being said it was created by Molex and is branded Ipass-HD. This year it was adopted by PCI SIG as pushed by Intel.

All of these cards have SAS in the title, but are not capable of SAS communications. This is a good thing as SAS adds more latency that is not needed inside a PC.
