5 out of 5 eggsFront Panel Audio

Pros: Nice looking, sturdy gauge metal, good quality connectors.

Cons: No mounting screws.

Other Thoughts: I have an older HP Pavilion PC which didn't have front panel audio ports. This was a simple way to add them. One thing not made clear at Newegg is the cabling and connector designs, so here goes: There are four black cables, about 23" in length. The four cables are fitted with black plastic 2x5 pin-blocks connectors. Each block has a missing pin for a key-way orientation. These are labeled USB, USB, HD Audio, and 1394 (which is FireWire). I saw no indication of AC 97' support. A close examination of the cables can confuse one, since each USB connector has a pair of cables, rather than the expected one. I have not installed the unit yet (I got it mere hours ago), but it looks nice and appears well made. Keep in mind, no instructions, CD-ROM disc, or even mounting screws are provided. It's bare-bones. The short cable length will be an issue for many, so I recommend measuring your case dimensions.

3 out of 5 eggsCables too short!

Pros: Looks great. Slid right into my 3 1/2" drive bay. Built sturdy.

Cons: Cables are about 23" long. Way too short for my full tower case. Might be OK if your 3 1/2" drive bay is in the middle of the case but mine is on top of case and connectors are on the bottom of motherboard. Measure your case before you buy!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine.

Pros: This was a nice way to expand my USB ports, plus it has fire wire. Solid build, wires weren't to short. Still works a year later.

Cons: Shielding on the wiring was a bit annoying, you can receive a buzz off this thing when you rocking headphones. No problem though, I just switched back to my case jacks.

Other Thoughts: Not to much to say, it works fine with usb objects, just not headphones.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks nice works well

Pros: This item looks great. It is made of quality components. It is all metal, and looks great in my black case. The connectors are internal so you don't take up rear usb ports.

Cons: You have to figure out the pinouts on your motherboard and line all the USB connectors up properly so it is a little bit of a pain to install but works good once you do.

Other Thoughts: USB plugs are made to be universal by having a separate single plug for each wire braid ground. My motherboard has USB connections for a single plug for two ports with a single ground for both. I simply have the braid plug for two of the four ports unplugged. It works just fine anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: It has 4 usb's instead of the usual 2
the headphone jack is very high quality
The mic input is good
The USB's are very fast with any 2.0 device
It's metal

Cons: When you run any of the usb drives, it makes a buzzing noise in the headphones.

Other Thoughts: Knocked two stars off for this, because I tend to leave my headphones on, even if I'm running a usb flash drive. It's fast, but it makes a buzzing noise in the headphones when the usb is running at the same time. It's pretty muddled over when music is playing though, so it doesn't warrant a return. And yes, all the plugs are in and tight. The sound with Sony V6's is surprisingly high quality for such a little device. Definitely better than my old front usb/audio box. About the same, if not a little better quality than the built in audio of my HP Pavilion.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect

Pros: see below

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: very nice. just what I needed. had thought I may have had a motherboard issue with the front audio connector, as realtek HD audio manager always popped up saying I plugged into the front headphone jack when I didn't. though I am aware of possible issues when connecting azalia HD to ac97 front panels due to sense pins. well apparently that was my problem. this panel has BOTH ac97 and azalia front panel connectors and works a treat. also, as reviewers have said, the jacks are very snug, but I'd rather tight than loose

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for what it does

Pros: Like all Silverstone Products this one is finely made. High quality materials. It just feels good to handle it. the connections are good.

Cons: not any

Other Thoughts: This would look great in a black case. It gives a professional appearance to a case that may be missing front panel connections. Or if the front panel connections are not in a good spot.

1 out of 5 eggsBadly shielded cables

Pros: Perfect for what I need it for if it worked properly. The main part of the unit feels very sturdy and well built.

Cons: I bought this mainly for the two front audio jacks that plug directly into the motherboard. All of the other 3.5" front panels that have audio do not have this.

Unfortunately, the audio cable is not shielded correctly so you get quite a bit of feedback when using it no matter how you position the wire.

The USB wires are divided up into small 4 pin connectors which is absolutely useless for my motherboard.

Great features but bad cable quality.

Other Thoughts: Definitely could have been made better.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap way to get front ports.

Pros: Works fine still in the rig that I gave away a while ago. It was easy to install. Very simple.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It does not look too great but ohh well.

Solid, works good

5 out of 5 eggs
This seems like a solid product, made from metal. The back of the connectors are sealed together, so this doesn't act ...

It Works

4 out of 5 eggs
Fits in the 3.5" bay, easy to install and no drivers required. The black finish looks good in my case.
