5 out of 5 eggsPerfect card for the price

Pros: Great card for a great price! Runs everthing at full detail on my Dell 24' monitor. This baby is getting me about 30-60% more performance then my old AIW X800 while running cooler (68 full load vs 86).

Cons: Not 512 mb, limited potential, runs hot (53c) idle, kinda large, and some driver issues.

Other Thoughts: I replaced my AIW X800 with this baby, wow, a world of differences in performance! Great card for my Core 2 6600 with 2GB of ram.

5 out of 5 eggsDirect X

Pros: Excellent price compared to the $500 cards of the same model out there.

Cons: I saw a card like this for $xxx dollars at an online store, but that was 512mb.

Other Thoughts: My old computer ran directx 9.0a on a Rage 128 Pro, designed for Directx 8.1 . If this is possible, why can microsoft make DX10 compatible with DX9 cards? After all, they both use the same aspects of the video card (Shading, T&L, AA). And also, manufacturers are selling laptops and pc's that are "Vista Ready". It must mean that vista is proven to work on those machines. I also found a link that says a machine is ready if it has a DX9 video card. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx
Btw, im building a new system and I cant wait to get this card!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat x1800 series for the price

Pros: To start off i dont have this Great Card yet, but i just like to say that this card is a killer i saw benchmarks and it even takes out the Nvidia 7800 GTX so just imagine..my friend has one and i was amazed by the image quality much nicer then the 7800GTX..reason why im buying this card and you should to is because its a good powerful video card for just about 200 bucks ..not many cards at this price can perform as good..and its a directX 9 card so we all know DirectX 10 is coming soon.. so why shell out $300+ on a top end DX9 card when it wont be able to run DX10 graphic details and then u would have to up-grade after spending clost to $xxx beans on that top end card, and DX10 cards will be out by the time Windows vista is out...so this DX9 X1800 xt is a great powerful fast card for the value plus it has enough power to play all ur games at high detail w/out slow down with power to spare..i even played BF2 at 1600x1200 with 4xAA,16xAF and still got 91 FPS..so in ur face nvidia.lol

Cons: Gonna need to up grade to DX10 card in a yea or two.. but not really a con for now..cuz everything out there runing on DX9....

Other Thoughts: my specs are:AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+(AM2)...ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe... CORSAIR XMS2 1GB DDR2800 (PC2 6400)...256MB Radeon X1800XT...WD Raptor 74GB 10,000RPM HD...Audigy 2 ZS

5 out of 5 eggsgood card

Pros: slot cooler heatsink, great bang for the buck.

Cons: loud fan. as the other reviews stated, fan spins at max on startup and sounds like a hairdryer, but will quiet down after a few seconds. does make an audible hum, which is somewhat annoying, especially for me since it's the only audible fan in the case.

Other Thoughts: have been running oblivion and bf2 on highest settings smooth performance. did stutter a little bit with bf2 on highest settings and 6x AA applied. paired with a conroe e6400 (not oc'ed) and 1gb corsair ram.

5 out of 5 eggsA must buy for a low budget.

Pros: Runs anything you throw at it, at MAXED/ULTRA quality and high fps.

Cons: While booting into Windows, at the Welcome sceen, the screen flickers and semi-page tears. Not really a con because it doesn't effect you in anyway.

Other Thoughts: Games I've played- Quake 4, Oblivion, HL2, BF2, Need for Speed:MW, COD2, Black & White 2, Far Cry. My System- AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz, 1024 RAM, ASUS A8R-MVP, X1800XT, WinXP/Linux, 17'' CRT.

1 out of 5 eggsFried

Pros: Plays all my games on High and Maximum and looks beautiful... when it works

Cons: First one worked for about a day and had to RMA. Same exact thing happened to my friend. Now about 3 months later it started smoking and just died...

Other Thoughts: Not very reliable

4 out of 5 eggsFast but LOUD

Pros: FAST FAST FAST. With EVERYTHING on high in EVERY game, ie fear, hl2, oblivion, this thing is fast. Image quality is good too. I ordered the OEM but it came with everything but a game. All cables and driver cd were in bag. The card looked as if it was used though?

Cons: LOUD! Upon startup it's loud for about 2 seconds then winds down. Even when just in winodws I can hear this thing going. When playing fear with EVERYTHING maxed out, the fan is unbareable. definately needs an aftermarket fan.

Other Thoughts: My setup: core 2 duo E6300 1GB ram gigabyte DS3 mobo

5 out of 5 eggsSeems like a great card so far

Pros: It works great with two LCD's hooked via DVI. The picture quality of the card is also great and the card comes with a large cooling fan wich keeps the card really cool and also seems to help cool the case by blowing the warm air out. It's a great price for an OEM, you get the card, drivers, a bunch of wires, everything you need for a lot less than the retail.

Cons: The card gets REALLY hot, but than again, that's why they put a huge cooling fan on it, which of course takes up two card slots. This isn't really a con for me, but this is NOT the card you want for a Micro ATX case, it will not fit. The card takes up two spaces and it's also REALLY long.

Other Thoughts: I lov this video card so far, I promised my self a few months ago that I wouldn't get an ATI card, ever, but I ended up getting this card to go along with my Core 2 6700, and they both make a great couple. On my gaming machine I'm using two 7800GTX (SLI), but I might just consider ATI when I upgrade my gaming machine or my parents computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for the money

Pros: Very good little card, what I love about it more than anything is it's crossfire capabilities. While I couldn't afford one of the higher end 512 modle I was more than happy to take this one. Since I've built my computer around the premis of being upgradeable I can just slap another one of thease into my box once the price has come down without having to throw the old one away.

Cons: Occationaly the graphics driver will reset itself during more graphicaly intensive programs, and while this interrupts game play it's only for a moment and it doesn't cause the game to crash. Sofar I've only encountered this with The Sims 2 with everything cranked up.

Other Thoughts: Definatly a good choice if you don't want to waste money on replacing this card when you can just as eaisly get another for a fraction of the cost some months down the road.
