How powerful are the new X1950 Graphic Processor Unit video cards? "Better check to see if your power supply can handle it" powerful, and that's no exaggeration! Some of the new boards require PCI Express; this board lets those of us with an AGP 4x/8x slot play, too.
Not that this is a second-class citizen in Video World, with half a gigabyte of memory, 256 bit wide memory interface, a 1.4 GHz memory clock (580 MHz GPU clock), High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays for even more realistic imagery, and a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1600. Two DVI ports and an HDTV/S-Video output give display flexibility (think of your favorite application on your big screen tv!) and the large fan keeps it cool without busting your eardrums.
Speed and power. Brilliance, high contrast, and vivid colors. The versatility to plug it into your monitor, your tv, or your video projector. You're going to like what you see.

Quite happy
- Pros: I was worried about the power demand for this, my 460 watt PS only has 2 12v rails, 15a and 16a, but it's works fine. The card installed easy, and drivers worked right off the get-go. I even overclocked it to 621, and upped the RAM to 736(1472 effective) and have yet to have issues. So for less than the cost of the 512Mb HIS card, I'm running at the same speed, the bonus is the Sapphire is even less now than when I bought it.
I can't hear the fan on the card over the sound of my case fans, so I don't think it's too loud, even during our LAN party we just had, it ran like a champ, it was hammered on for 8 hrs straight, no lockups or reboots. Newegg's top notch, I ordered it and received it 3 days later, the best part is you get the 30-day return guarantee, every other site only offers an exchange, you never get your money back if you choose not to keep the card. 3dMark2005 score at stock speed, 4700 range, overclocked score 4950.
- Cons: I freaked when I saw how big it was, the pictures on the net don't do it justice. I have a server case, so I had plenty of room. Card is 9.5 inches long.
- Other Thoughts: Here's my specs, for comparison. I used to own an ATI Radeon 9700, the Sapphire was a nice boost.
Supermicro X5DAE motherboard Enhance ENS0246B 460watt power supply (2 12v rails, 15a and 16a) Dual 2.8Ghz Xeons, hyperthreaded 1GB DDR266 ECC RAM Sapphire X1950Pro AGP 512Mb overclocked at 621Mhz, 736Mhz GDDR3 memory(1472Mhz effective) Seagate 120GB, 160GB, 300GB HD's Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Klipsch Promedia 4.1 400watts Samsung 48xCD burner/DVD player Pioneer 109 Dual Layer DVD burner
The Best AGP Card & Best X1950 Pro Available
- Pros: A great card at a great price with 512MB of GDDR3 on board. Have had exactly zero problems with this card since it was installed. It runs every game I can throw at it at 1600x1200 with all in-games setting maxxed and I am currently using an AMD64 +3700 CPU. GPU temp when idle is 41c and under load may reach 70c. Very happy with this Upgrade.
- Cons: Can't do Crossfire with AGP Cards. If I could, I would have bought 2 of these.:)
- Other Thoughts: As other have said, make sure your Power Supply is up to it before making your purchase. A number of users are saying Sapphire has Quality Control Issues when in reality it's their inadequate power supplies which are to blame. Yes, there have been a few reports of poorly attached heatsinks, but the majority of the complaints appear to be a direct result of an under-powered PSUs. Recommended Specs for this Video Card call for 450w PSU with 30a on the +12V rail. If you intend on shopping for a new PSU. I strongly recommend going to ATI's website and search for Power Supplies. This will bring-up a link to recommended Power Supplies.

Impressive
- Pros: Plays BF2 without Anti-Aliasing but, all other settigns are on high. I own two other Sapphire cards. The 9800pro Atlantis and the 2600XT. All three are agp running windows xp. NOTE: Not all functional powers available between vista and xp.
I am happy with the results for Call of Duty 2 and VALVe games/ new and old.
- Cons: Watch that LCD overdrive. The card will malfunction. I will replace my card. Thank you new egg.
LCD overdrive is ment for clan matches. Around thirty minutes. Not a special sitting of four hours or more. Be carefull because the LCD overdrive does not shut off like the overclocking and memory overclocking.
- Other Thoughts: Great card and I wish to install it into my classic EM64T. I own a socket 478 as well. The 478 has my 2600XT. I keep the Atlantis 9800pro in the box. I make mistakes and that card has been my back up since 2004. Sapphire is good, yes?
AMAZING!!!
- Pros: I was a little skeptical about this before I got it. I had a FX5600 and the difference with this can't even be explained with words. Games that were not even playable before are all maxed out and running smooth now. Crysis runs great and all my old games look 10 times better :) Newegg Rocks!!!
- Cons: None thus far. Lots of people complain about the drivers for these cards but i had no problems what so ever. Very easy install and upgraded to Catalyst 7.10 suite and it runs perfect.
- Other Thoughts: Im sure my system is holding the true power of this card back. Windows XP32, P4 @ 3gh, 2 gigs kingston Hyper X, sound blaster audigy se, 200g sata 150, x1950pro agp. Still very happy and this will def last a while till i have to build a new system.
Great card for AGP users!
- Pros: 1. Shader 3 lets you play newer games like Bioshock.
2. great performance in all games and in 2D. 3. Best card out there for AGP mobos.
- Cons: Been said before, but this card is a monster. I had to move my 2 hard drives and it is still really jammed. Needs decent power supply so be warned if you have something weak. Worked just fine with my Antec 480.
- Other Thoughts: Great card. Replaced my x800 xt pe with this card. Bioshock looks fantastic. Use new Cat drivers from website not the cd. A great buy for anyone still using a AGP mobo who wants to play current games.
