4 out of 5 eggsWindows XP worked -- Opensuse 10.2 marginal

Pros: Swapped out a NVidia card out of my Windows XP machine and had it working within 1/2 hour. 3d graphics and good clear display -- However, . . .

Cons: ATI and linux (Opensues 10.2) didn't work so well. This card is an ATI Radeon and the standard Linux ATI drivers didn't work well for me. I was able to figure out how to download the latest drivers from the ATI site and compile them. This got the 3D graphics working and solved the playback for standard video players: xine Kaffeine Mplayer, but never seem to work with MythTV. The best I could get out of MythTV was jumpy TV and video playback with a diagonal line through it. After a couple of weeks through the forums I noticed there was a re-occurring theme of issues between ATI and Linux. I gave up and pulled the NVidia MSI-NX7100GS out of my XP box, put in this box -- reloaded software and things worked. I suppose the only reason I don't give it a lower rating is I don't know who to fault (ATI versus Linux).

Other Thoughts: I am not a gamer, so my appreciation for 3D graphics is limited to the cool new screen savers that have appeared since I've installed the card. I have two main computers. I use my XP box for video editing, slide show creation and office stuff. The Linux box for a file server, router, extra firewall, print server, general web browsing and a TV recording devise. I generally leave the Linux box on 24/7.

Window XP box: ASUS A8N-E mother board with AMD X2 4600, 1G ram and 4 SATA hard drives.

Opensuse 10.2 Linux box: MSI K8N Neo4-F motherboard with AMD X2 3800, 1G ram, Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 MCE and more SATA drives.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget card

Pros: This card is great for most things but not really gaming. I you want to play medal of honor airborne or flight simulator X look elsewhere for a card.

Cons: Not to good at gaming

Other Thoughts: I have an Athlon 64 X2 2.5 Ghz 2 gig ddr2 800 and this card. it doesn't play games very well

5 out of 5 eggsGreat vasic card

Pros: Great card that has given me no problems since day 1.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was not looking for anything to do serious gaming or anything, just something basic for a higher end PC that doesnt need higher end graphics. This turned out to be perfect.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent for the workstation I built surrounding the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+(65W) Windsor 2.2GHz and ASUS M2N-E mother board.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This was used on workstations and not a gaming or home machine.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat...if your not a heavy gamer

Pros: Decent speed for average users - my fan was quiet* - not power-hungry

Cons: Not the best for gaming. Runs games like WoW and CNC Generals @ full but not much more

Other Thoughts: Mine came with the HS/F assembly that the AGP version of this card has. Runs quiet and cool.

5 out of 5 eggsMy first build

Pros: Easy install and posted right away. No dropped frames running Company of Heroes full bore. I built the computer for photography anyway though. No fan on mine, just a heatsink. No heat issue noted.
Great price.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Core2Duo E4400, ASUS P5N-E SLI mobo.

3 out of 5 eggsLoud fan Pt. 2

Pros: using VGA I get HDDVDs, HDCP on the cheap ;p

Cons: Fan's not as loud as a jet engine... but it IS pretty loud. Not loud enough that I can hear it over any kind of conversation, but too loud for a light sleeper like me to sleep with.

Other Thoughts: Not a very good overclock, only got 567/ 909 on stock. But wacha gonna do??

2 out of 5 eggsWicked Loud Fan!

Pros: Cheap dual-head PCI-Express video card.

Cons: The included fan is louder than a jet engine! If you want to build a silent PC then avoid this card at all cost!

5 out of 5 eggsGood 2 Go

Pros: Great price (got a rebate too). Sapphire name is well known. Works great in my 2nd work system (s754 3000+ Venice @ 2.6).

Cons: 4 pipeline card - but what do you expect for the price? :)

Other Thoughts: I play HL Deathmatch and HL2. This card had no problems with either game. HL2 looked just as good as my X800Pro. I'll try FEAR next, Shouldn't be a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsIts fine

Pros: Its silent and has more than enough power to push a business application. Keep in mind what it is and what it is made for and you will not be disappointed.

Cons: The heat sink gave me the heebie jeebies but my case was well ventilated enough to keep it at reasonable temps.

Other Thoughts: Remember, cheap and no frills. However, that said it will play up to source engine games fairly well.
