3 out of 5 eggsgreat card / bad lifespan

Pros: This is a great card, plays everything I throw at it very well.

Cons: i put ownership at 1month-1year because that is how long i have had 1 card. if you added them all up it'd be closer to 2 years, but these cards average 3-6 months before dying. I have had about 4-5 so far, at first i thought maybe i had a bad computer that was chewing up cards, but that's just rediculous, then i read all the reviews with everyone saying the same thing.

Other Thoughts: guys this is all you need to know about this card:

Awesome card/junk fan.

i'm gonna buy an aftermarket fan for it, i dont think i should have to in order to run it at stock speeds, but i am sick and tired of the rma runaround and would like a card to last more than a year this time...

there is a review guideline that forbids any critisizing of newegg, so i nearly didn't post it because you should be able to critisize them if they do wrong, however they have done right by me for going on 3 years and thousands of dollars of deals, so i gotta let that slide and say, thanks newegg, you guys are the best, even if sometimes i seem to have this card away for replacement more often then in my pc where it belongs!

3 out of 5 eggsBad Fan

Pros: The 9800 Pro is a solid card that will play most games with very high settings/resolution and even the newest most extreme games at medium settings with great frame rates.

Cons: I have purchased two of these cards now and both at about 4-6 months had there fans stop and the cards start over heating.

I replaced both with new fans, one a arctic vga silencer and one with a Zalman VF700-CU and both completely died about 3-4 weeks later apparently from damage from overheating when fans first stopped.

Other Thoughts: The 9800 Pro is a great card but go with another brand here. I've only had troubles with Sapphire 9800s and even then I have had no troubles with Sapphrires with other ATI cards. Just this one.

5 out of 5 eggsvery pleased

Pros: very nice card, has R360 chip, which is the same chip used on the Radeon 9800XT's, has Hynix 2.8ns memory which = 350 x 2 (700 DDR). ok enough tech stuff. the bottom line is if you are into ATI & are looking to get a R9800PRO this is the 1 to get. enough said. O COD i get a steady 85 FPS Vsync on, 1024x768,AA TrueForm, etc. on high. NFSU same. this is the best i can get because of my monitor junky HP mx70

Cons: not as fast as i had hoped, catalyst control Center is junk, the Catalyst A.I. causes big problems. i just installed drivers & control panel, without the control Center. all works very well

Other Thoughts: to the other people before me whose reviews i read before buying this card you might need to uninstall the catalyst control Center & .NET if you dont need it for any other software

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mid-Range Card

Pros: No hardware problems, plays HL2, CS:S, DoD:S, EQ2, BF2, Doom 3, on medium settings on 1024 X 768 resolution perfectly.

Cons: ATI driver updates are difficult to find on the website.

Other Thoughts: I have had the card for over a year now and have had no real problems. For a card that is actually affordable it is the best choice. I spent about 2 weeks avidly looking at card reviews and this card beat out its competitors in most of the tests. Overall: If you are looking fot a good gaming card that can play all the latest games, but dont have $xxx+ to spend, this is the best choice.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: Bought 2 years ago. Finally got it up and running mid-summer. This card has NO issues at all. I am a gamer but not an overclocker, so I dont have any info about its speed and the FPS. I can handle most games on high to highest settings with no trouble.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I paid over two hundred for this card 2 yrs ago. Now its at this GREAT price. Should buy another one. NewEgg Rocks the computer biz on the net.

4 out of 5 eggsNice card for the money!

Pros: Works fine for games made in 2004 and before with settings optimized on my system. I've played Battlefield 1942 and Star Wars Battlefront for over 6 months now and not a problem.

Cons: None really if your looking for a nice priced card for average game play. I will insist that you replace the stock Fan and heatsink if you plan to overclock, otherwise you will run the risk of burning the card out due to overheating.

Other Thoughts: My system: Abit KW7 mainboard , AMD XP 3000 , 512MB Kingston Ram , Windows XP Pro/SP2. I run the card at stock Core378 and stock memory338. I achieve 56FPS in game play.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I've had this thing for years and it was worth every penny. Still plays games wonderfully. Still a good card if you can find it cheap.

Cons: Other cards can do slightly better for only a bit more. Still a good buy if it's cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for a while

Pros: Fast GUP for the price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is a great card, but it died after six months. I tried to RMA, but did not have the box any longer, so I contacted ATI the they arranged an RMA.
