4 out of 5 eggsBang for buck

Pros: Great card for money. ($xx) Stable. Completely MCE compatible, lots of ports. Offer for free ATI remote on retail box is 100% true.

Cons: Included software is weak, slightly outdated GPU. If you want a media center, you don't want to be using ATI's software, it wasn't good years ago, and nothing has changed. Having trouble with the digital sound out port.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but problems

Pros: It sounds like a good idea

Cons: drivers made xp crash...repeatedly. tuner software didnt see the extended channel lineup. I returned my mobo thinking that it was the problem and have reloaded my machine three times. Rather have a different card now.

Other Thoughts: The first card I received was dead and the manual that came with it were in French and it was for the wrong card

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Cheap

Cons: First one DOA - Newegg replaced quickly. Second one, after many attempts can not get the tuner software to work. It crashes on install. It is as if the tuner is not there. Beginning to suspect a bad tuner. Tired of messing with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Great Price

Pros: Stable! Stable! Stable! And with no fans it is quiet. The card runs cool and the drivers are mature and solid.

It is a major upgrade from my prior AIW 8500DV in speed and resolution.

Cons: No HD and the enclosed multimedia software is a bit awkward and does not always play nicely with other multimedia programs. (This is a minor problem.)

Other Thoughts: Not the fastest card on the block; but for video you don't need it. It does everything it promises. For all normal applications it is crisp and sharp. Rendering and video editing is a pleasure on this card.

4 out of 5 eggsOK With Win2k So Far

Pros: I bought this card so that we could use the TV tuner feature and still get moderate performance with games. I had to move back to Media Center 9.06 to get the record feature to work under Win 2K SP4 but, other than that, it's been fine.

Cons: In general, this card lags... everything seems to be a little slow compared to any other PCs we have in the house. I am still happy with the card and ATI's tech support doesn't seem to be coming from Bangalore... a welcome relief!

Other Thoughts: ATI's tech support.... used only 2 times, I should say... is better than average... clear, concise, confident techs and low hold times.

3 out of 5 eggsKeep looking

Pros: Price is good. Hardware seems to be good. I bought it primarily for the dual monitor support. The TV in was a 'freebie'.

Cons: Overall, software is poor. ATI driver for dual monitors is OK with latest release. Bundled software for TV input is terrible. Most of it is old versions of stuff just slopped together. Plan on spending a lot on software upgrades.

Other Thoughts: I got what I paid for (dual monitors) but the TV part is such a big disappointment I've uninstalled the software for it. I'll have to think twice before buying this brand again.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 256 MBs of Video processing memory. Was an upgrade for my 128 MB AIW 9600.

Cons: Same card, more memory.

Other Thoughts: This card was a good value for me as I was able to sell my previous card, and purchase this one doubling my memory. The AIW series does a great job on dual monitors, video editing, and "par" gaming.

3 out of 5 eggsDeceiving....

Pros: Easy installation

Cons: Deceptive descriptions

Other Thoughts: I thought it was going to be a nice upgrade to the old 128MB DDR that I had. I was wrong. I strongly advise using Newegg's compare utility with other cards against this one. The spec sheet doesn't show clocking info or anything like that. Don't make the mistake and assume like I did.

4 out of 5 eggsan upgrade

Pros: this is an upgrade to an older ATI-AIW 9000 unit. The new version works as advertised. Worked fine with my 19" CRT monitor at 1600x1200 and later with my 19" widescreen FPD at 1440x900.

Cons: Disappointed it doesn't come with DVI connectors. Oh well.

4 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for... except in this case, when you get a little more

Pros: For the price, you can't beat it - decent video card, decent tv tuner, and awesome RF remote control (Radio Frequency! so you don't have to have line-of-sight with the receiver!!)

Cons: Not a great video card, not a great tv tuner. But then again, the cost of a great video card would be far more than this card. Also, installation is a nightmare for windows MCE 2005.

Other Thoughts: For MCE 2005 - you have to go to the ATI web site and download the updated drivers (about seven of them). Web site is
Also, the remote does NOT come in the box. You can order it for free (plus $xx shipping, of course), but be aware you don't get it immediately.
