HIGH PERFORMANCE
- Pros: Excellent video card. 14434 3D 06 with defaults.
Dollar-for-dollar, a no brainer.
- Cons: Runs a lot hotter than the single slot version, or at least mine does.
- Other Thoughts: This is one of the best video cards that I have ever used. I did have to download RIVA TUNE so that I could manually adjust my fan speeds, but I probably would have done that anyway. I have this one in one rig, and a single-slot (soon two) in another. I tested this one in both rigs. Why it would run hotter than the single slot version defies physics.
Great Card
- Pros: Great card for the money. Worked flawlessly from day 1. Can overclock the heck out of this card. It's scary how fast it clocks. Cyrsis is only game that makes it sweat, but that's at very high rez and almost everything up all way. Destroys Bioshock, UT3, COD4, half life 2 and all older games I've tried.
- Cons: haven't noticed any yet.
- Other Thoughts: For the money, it just can't be beat. What nvidia was was asking for its 8800s was just way too steep. I see they have come down. I guess that's what competition does. And the ATI 3870 is serious competition.
Great buy
- Pros: Great card. Price/performance ratio is one of the highest out right now. I have not had a single problem with it yet. Runs every game I have at high to highest settings. I have not had any heat or noise issues with this card. Installation was simple. Package contains everything necessary to use the card including power adpater cables and dvi/vga adpater. Vista compatible, DX10 supported, pcix 2.0 ready.
- Cons: The DVI/VGA adpater did not fit well. It is a double slot card and may not fit on some motherboards. Drivers could use some tweaking, but they still work great. I have been having problems locating software that will push this card to its limit. Card requires a more powerful PSU than most major pc brands place in their computers. Be prepared to purchase a decent 500-700 watt PSU to safely use this card. Radeon has a website listing tested PSU's with there video cards. The memory interface is only 256 bit, cutting down on the speed of data transfer.
- Other Thoughts: Be aware that a great video card like this will improve your gaming experience only up to a point. Using slower system memory and cpus will not allow your computer to display everything this video card can do.
