5 out of 5 eggsUhh... Get it?

Pros: Ok, well my first build, and I got this as a hamidown from my brother, upgrading his system. He has had it for a while, I got it six months ago, it works like a charm, running games on highest or second highest graphics, no lag. Also, if you have one of those cases with a clear side, it looks pretty nice for that!

Cons: None!

1 out of 5 eggsservice sucks

Pros: cant give none to a c.rappy company.

Cons: under stand one thing with visiontek, if you need answer they will not help you, they hardly answer there own forum and complain about ppl posting too much in the forum, which lead me to believe why have one in the first place. second there support is below average between a rock and the floor. if you have any problem with any visiontek product be prepared no not get help, answers, wait months for rma, and kicking your self for buying anything from visiontek.

Other Thoughts: some of there stuff are buggy had a few cards and they work when they wanted to. finding help was so bad made me wonder why they even have customer support in the first place cause they do not really support anything it like there only one person running the company.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plays every game I can throw at it on high to max settings.

Cons: I was experiencing random lockups and video artifacting. It turned out to be caused by the old vBIOS. Once I managed to flash the vBIOS to the updated version everything worked as advertised.

Other Thoughts: I have an older version of the card. New ones should come with the updated vBIOS. It can run fairly hot but it is within ATI's specifications.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall, a great buy.

Pros: -Quick, runs just about everything I have on full
-Dual Slot (hot air gets thrown out the back)
-RV770 Core @ 750
-GDDR5 Memory @ 900 (per memory chip, total ~3600?)

Cons: -Lock-ups and random restarts...which I figured out was caused by the 29% defualt fan speed. Fixing it was easy enough...using a beta version of a "Tray Tool" I made my own custom fan profile.

-New fan speeds made the card, not a big deal though

Other Thoughts: I would say for temps, it idles in the high 50's to low 60's (C). Under load, it goes into the mid 60's (otherwise, I would hear the increase in the fanspeed).

If you would purchase an aftermarket cooler or one with a non-ATi release model cooler, you would have less noise and heat.

I deducted an egg because of the fan profile messup by ATi...however, I hear the 8.11 Catalyst has basic fan control built in (if I recall correctly)

5 out of 5 eggsperformance for price - unbeatable

Pros: Top of the line performance for a mid-range cards price. Pair it with a good cpu for best performance, but don't be deterred if yours isn't steller-- just crank that aa/af

Cons: None whatsoever

2 out of 5 eggsAMD users stay away

Pros: When it runs correctly, this card is very powerful.

Cons: It does not like AMD processors, which is pretty silly considering they make the video card.... You can look at the other reviews and see what it is doing with the checkerboard crash.

Other Thoughts: I believe this card has alot of potential if they could get the drivers straight, but I am not waiting around to find out. I got a refund and am replacing it with a XFX GTX 260 XXX.

2 out of 5 eggsInexcusable Checkerboard Locking

Pros: Card is powerful when playing games....

Cons: ... until it locks. The powerplay feature that AMD has to modulate wattage checkboard locks this card in all but the latest and greatest games (Crysis) where no lower wattage would be needed. Warhammer, Warcraft, WoW, etc... all suffering from this lock. I have turned off the feature, changed XML coding to prevent the wattage change, but this still happens.

Other Thoughts: Just absolutely inexcusable for them to release a card with this error. Any testing on an XP/Vista machine of games that were not completely high end would have revealed the issue with this wattage modification. I'm out a few hundred dollars now because new egg wont let me return this

5 out of 5 eggsAssblastingly Fast

Pros: This thing blows away any game I throw at it. Last night I had dual screen going, with Spore on it's highest settings on one and a Blu-ray movie on the other, and there wasn't any noticeable slowdown. I'm considering getting Crysis just to see what this card can do with it. I can't praise this thing enough in terms of raw power.

Cons: It runs a little hot - mine was around 67 idle. Turning the fan up to about 35% brings that way down without much noise, but to do that you have to find an xml and edit it by hand. It would have been nice if there was fan control built into the Catalyst Control Center program that comes with it.

Also had some crashing out of the box, but the newest driver on ATI's site fixed it right away, so serves me right for not immediately checking the drivers I guess.

Other Thoughts: I put together this system with the idea of eventually buying a second card for Crossfire, and after seeing what just one can do I'm even more excited than I was to begin with. Sorry GeForce, but I won't be back for a while.

1 out of 5 eggsSadly Dissapointed

Pros: Newegg had a promo for free shipping and the card had a rebate.

Cons: Card booted fine to windows but, would hard lock my machine after 30 seconds of use. I have another Powercolor 4870 (I was planning on running Crossfire) and if I ran only that card things were fine. If I ran both 4870 cards or only the Sapphire I would hard lock my PC. I replaced this card w/ another Powercolor card and no more hard locks - even running both cards in Crossfire. I'm using the latest ATI Radeon drivers so the issue is clearly on the Sapphire card.

This card was loud, much louder than my Powercolor 4870.

Other Thoughts: Sadly I had to pay to ship this piece of junk back when it should have gone straight to the garbage. I have purchased stuff from Sapphire before...probably never again.

4 out of 5 eggsOnce you get it working... it's really fast

Pros: This is the best card I've ever owned in terms of speed. I'm running pretty much everything at 1920x1200 now, this card is incredible.

Cons: What a pain to get this thing to work properly. I came close to RMA'ing it, and I still might. Right out of the box the thing couldn't run almost all 3D games for more than a few minutes without crashing back to windows, or even completely locking up the system.

It turns out that you need to make a custom profile in the Catalyst control panel that:
1) Turns up the fan a bit
2) Turns OFF the PowerPlay feature, which is supposed to dynamically adjust the speed of the GPU based on loading. That's really the feature that crashes and burns.

Once I did that... I haven't had a single crash with anything I've thrown at it, and I've been trying. It's been amazingly stable.

Other Thoughts: Grrrr... I'm still a bit miffed that they let something so obvious slip through in the rush to get this thing out to market. Come on people, based on the amount of traffic on the internet forums with people having similar problems, this one should have been an easy catch.

Still... I have a hard time rating this below a 4, since I've had no problems ever since I tweaked the profile, and when it works it's so freakin' fast!
