4 out of 5 eggsDecent performance for the price

Pros: - affordable price at the time of purchase(140$)

Cons: can't think of any

Other Thoughts: This is a good card if you know what you are paying for, I mean it performs very well for things that doesn't require too much graphics muscles like most of the games(tomb raider underworld, fallout 3, bioshock on highest setting, running 1080p videos in multiple windows at the same time etc) but don't expect it to shatter any benchmarks. Early levels of Crysis runs fine on medium settings and acceptable on High setting but later levels start showing some serious lag(~ 10 fps). Make sure you read the benchmark score for various graphic cards on the 3DMark06 website before you make the decision for which card to purchase so you know what you are getting.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Sub-par Cooling

Pros: This card is a great mid-level gamer. I've built 6 machines between myself and friends around this chip and it's stunning for the price. It runs everything from Crysis to Team Fortress 2 very well. It's a nice little boost with the 1 gig memory over the 512 meg

Cons: The cooler on this particular version is very weak. I was seeing idle temps of 57-60 c and that's in an Antec 900 2 case with all fans on full plus an additional side fan. This is also with fans set manually to 100%. The fan has barely any increase in sound when you turn it manually to 100% and upon inspection of the heatsink itself, it's made of a very light weight aluminum. There is one tiny piece of copper on the whole thing, where it actually contacts the GPU. So, with a weak heatsink and weaker fan, the memory chips get awfully warm.

Other Thoughts: Don't get me wrong, I would definately buy another HD 4850, I'd just spend the extra money off the bat to get one with a better cooler. I owned an HD 4850 2 weeks before it hit newegg and even that reference design cooled much, MUCH better than this one. Even when I added a Zalman VF1000 to this card, the reference card cooled better at 50% with the zalman maxed out.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome 1440 x 900 Gaming

Pros: - 1 GB of V - Ram
- 800 Pixel Processors
- Shorter then the reference PCB
- Decent Overclockability (800 core - 1200 mem)

Cons: - Fan doesn't exhaust heat out of the rear of the case.
- Fan can get a little loud.

Other Thoughts: I am able to run Far Cry 2 at very high settings with 4x AA at 1440 x 900. Call of Duty 5 with maxed settings and 4x AA at 1440 x 900. Will try Crysis soon. I read the reviews and was impressed. Was waiting for a 4770 1gb but couldn't wait any longer as this was the last component needed to complete my build. Very solid performance especially compared to what I have in the system. The entire dragon platform gives a very "SMOOTH" gaming experience over a core 2 duo based platform.

5 out of 5 eggsgets the job point @ $150 price point

Pros: great card for its price. you really can't go wrong with it. worked right from the moment i connected it to the mobo.

runs quiet and outperforms my nvidia 8800gt by a ton.

Cons: it's big, but most cards are. if your pci-e slots are close, it will take up 2 slots because of the fan.

Other Thoughts: card is perfect for my needs. i run css and get constant 200+ fps which is more than necessary. currently have my setup running 2x 4850's in crossfire and is working well!

3 out of 5 eggsRead Before You Buy It

Pros: + 1GB-256.
+ Card is very stable.
+ Plays Crysis, Counter Strike source, America's Army w/out a problem.
+ Price is not that bad.

Cons: - I have 2 of these cards, and on the first one New Egg made an inventory mistake and sent me a 3850 AGP instead, then it took a total of 16 days to get the right card with RMA.
- This card does not get the heat out of the PC, so you need xtra ventilation inside the case, specially if you got it set up in crossfire like I do.
- The stock fan (at full speed) gets the card running on 71C, while running Crysis on high, on my well ventilated case COOLER MASTER COSMOS S RC-1100. I had to remove stock fan and spend xtra money on a Zalman VF1000, so the temperature in the primary card would drop down from 71C to 48C !
- With this card, the max settings I get for Crysis is "High" even on crossfire with CCC v9.4, MOBO M3A78-T and Phenom 9850 OC'd to 2.9, 4GB G.Skills OC'd, Win XP Pro SP3.
- If you over clock this card using CCC tool, then you'll get artifacts while playing.
- New Egg policy does NOT allow refund for this product, so if you don't like this card, to bad. :(

Just do th

4 out of 5 eggsHmmm

Pros: No noticeable difference between this and my 512mb 4870, but I mostly just play EQ2 and Warhammer Online.

I keep my catalyst settings at 4xAA and 8xAF. Nice and fast.

Cons: 4870 mentioned above was an RMA replacement for a Sapphire 1950xtx. The 4870 they sent me has horrible geometry artifacting (probably someone else's RMA). I bought this card to replace it since I was outside the warranty period and this one ALSO gave me artifacting on one occasion so far. Temp monitors show no excessive heat - just a bad string of luck I guess

Other Thoughts: Sapphire support is actually really good. They reply to emails with actual educated responses and their RMA process is pretty hassle-free. My only gripe is it seems hard to get a card that's actually flawless.

4 out of 5 eggsnot bad at all

Pros: runs real smooth, I'm able to play fear 2 with now load wait during saving time, and the graphics in just about every game I've played on this thing are better.

Cons: the only real problem I have with it is on mass affect the gameplay is very blurry and full of pixels, but that may have to do with something else, I'm not sure yet.
