4 out of 5 eggsGreat, but big (tall)

Pros: Great card, works very well in my Media Center, driver installation was easy. Love the fanless design.

Cons: 1) The heatsink wraps AROUND/OVER the top edge of the card, meaning it didn't fit in my media center case. I'm on the lookout for a new case anyway, so not a big deal for me.

2) HDMI Audio support does not work with my 4-year old ASUS P5AD2-E Deluxe mobo with 925 chipset (known problem). Again, looking for a new case, so I'll be upgrading my motherboard as well.

Other Thoughts: VGA DSUB connector was really tight to the edge of my case (positioned 'higher' on the card than on any other I've seen), so I couldn't use a VGA connection to my TV if I wanted to. Of course, if you're buying this card, you're buying it for HDMI...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Not for overclockers

Pros: Runs extremely cool with my Mugen 2 CPU fan. The fan intakes air through the card heatsink.

No fan to fail and ruin your card. No noise.

The card under heavy load (futuremark) only increases 6-8C over ambient with my setup!

With reasonable airflow others should not have a problem even without an oversized CPU cooler.

Pretty stable at stock settings for me (very low margin for overclocking, I currently have overdrive locked)

Solid heatsink design, not as flimsy as others.

Cons: The voltage is set way too low from the factory. Even its highest profile sets it to 1.25V (Fan versions that are able to overclock are 1.325-1.375). This could potentially make the card unstable if you have an unlucky chip in high demand environments.

The CCC has an option that detects errors related to overdrive and will usually scale the frequency back however it does not always.

To change the voltage on this card any higher I've pretty much gathered you would have to preform a volt-mod (soldering on the darn card, which I'm not prepared to do)

Other Thoughts: I would assume this card would be stable to 1.55 or so volts with adequate cooling and reach core clocks of 1000-1100! You just have to perform a risky procedure that would void your warranty in a heartbeat...

I know I mentioned a lot of cons but this is really as far as I've gathered the best option for a passive mainstream video card available currently. (Unless you step up to 4850) 5 eggs!

Next time though, please throw in a soft mod able voltage regulator chip that can take the voltages up to +10% via GUI and +20% via command line, and don't forget to couple the heatsink to the voltage regulation chip or the cores will be fine but other things on the PCB might toast! :') I know I'd pay an extra 10-15% for a "black edition" even at the mainstream level.

After seeing what a large heatsink like this can do on a video card, I'd love to see them on higher end cards occasionally as well. There are few things I hate more than computer noise.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC++ Card

Pros: Native HDMI - no problems getting sound over HDMI, was default.
Silent, fanless.
A little bit better than the minimum for an HTPC, can do a bit of gaming, but not on high settings.

Cons: Delicate radiator fins - not a huge problem since you should only have to put it in your computer once, though one of the fins was bent when I got it.
A little bit pricey for an HTPC graphics card.

Other Thoughts: Great card if you want an HTPC that can do a little bit more.
Make sure you have silent fans in your case or you are paying too much for this card (the same chipset with a fan costs less)

Cons: it Crashes in todays games I was playing Tomb Raider Underworld and it would Crash also I will get 30fps on my 32 ich monitor and it would crash even faster but in games like company of heroes il would run like a champ.

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't fit case

Pros: Able to do HD video and audio (although with downsampled LPCM 7.1) silent.

Cons: Doesn't fit my APEVIA Black SECC Steel / Aluminum X-MASTER-BK/500 ATX Media Center / HTPC Case, so I had to return.

Other Thoughts: Short review but I thought it may be helpful for people building an HTPC with this particular case.

4 out of 5 eggsWonderful card, but does it fit your case?

Pros: I had no huge problems installing this video card. I had it up and running in about 20 minutes. It has been running without any problems since it was installed.

It raised my Vista Experience rating to 5.6.

Although I turned up fan on the case (Antec NSK4480B) from low to medium to deal with the heat from the video card, the PC isn't loud at all. You can hear it, but it's not distracting.

Cons: The heat sink is large, and I could not install the card in the PCI-E slot I originally wanted to. The heat sink bumped into the SATA cable and power cable of my hard drive. The heat sink on the video card was hot to the touch, and didn't want the hard drive cables melting. I moved it to other PCI-E slot on the motherboard (ASRock A780GXH/128M).

Also, with my set-up, it would be difficult to CrossFire two of these cards.

Other Thoughts: The heat sink is heavy and causes the card to sag slightly. I secured it to the case using a screw.

The bios for the motherboard and Windows Vista (32-bit) recognized the card OK.

The card worked good enough using the Windows driver until I got the ATI Catalyst software loaded. I don't know if the drivers that ship with the product are any good because I downloaded ATI Catalyst from the Sapphire Web site.

5 out of 5 eggsGolden Rule: SILENCE!

Pros: Excellent card and bang for the buck! Prior to owning this card, I was playing World of Warcraft at minimal settings. Now I've got the eyecandy turned up and not even noticing any lag time for graphics. Other games as well have improved dramatically in overall performance.

The fact that there is no fan to lock up on it is a major bonus. My last two cards died due to fan failure, not a problem with this card. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

After reversing the two side fans on my case, one actually blows directly over the card. While gaming the card barely breaks 95F (35c).

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I had reservations about a fanless card, relying only on an aluminum heatsink. After over a month of ownership, I am SOLD!

5 out of 5 eggslike it

Pros: silent, cool, PCI-E is sufficient - no additional power needed

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Great card if you are just an occasional gamer. I have two 120mm fans at 500rpm in my case and that is sufficient to keep the video board below 70C all the time. PC cannot be heard anymore.
