1 out of 5 eggs2 bad cards in a row

Pros: None this time around.

Cons: Had to RMA my original card due to it killing the display for no reason. The card I received in return is even worse than the first one! I can't even load any game w/o the card bugging out and disabling the display. I have to force power pc off, then on to get display back. This card even crashed my display when I tried to access the task manager!

Other Thoughts: Extremely dissapointed with Sapphire atm. 1 bad card I thought, it happens. But 2 bad cards in a row? I had to put my old radeon 3870 512mb back in and it works w/o issues. That really is a shame. Started a 3rd service ticket, still waiting for response. Already spent $20 on shipping my first card back, so now do I have to spend another $20? I might as well of spent the extra money, and got a card that was worth buying. Waste of time and money.

1 out of 5 eggsKills display under load

Pros: Looks good in case with the blue LED light. Good price. Sapphire products are innovative and attractive to me.

Cons: Anytime this card encounters a work load, it just kills the display, and I have to reboot to get display back. I have to run everything at low to medium settings to keep this from happening. Display drivers are always updated, and have latest bios for mobo. I can't play anything at higher res than 1280 x 1024 w/o having to worry about the display going blank.

Other Thoughts: Created a support ticket w/ Sapphire, and I had to reinstall numerous display drivers, and had to reinstall all of my names at their direction even though I knew it was a hardware problem. It took forever and didn't change anything. Finally was told to contact Althon Micro to RMA card. Had to email Althon 3-5 times before I got a response. Now I have to RMA card, seems like a waste of time and money. Hopefully when I get it back it will work like it's supposed to. I will update review accordingly.

system specs: msi P45 Neo3-FR , intel core 2 quad 9300, 6gb ddr2 800, antec 700w ps, Samsung 1tb hd, Sapphire vapor-x 4870 1gb.

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding

Pros: Frame rate is outstanding, went from 10fps in Dalaran playing WoW to 35 fps. Huge difference in game play. I would recommend this board to anyone. Also for anybody running Linux, ATI has a one click driver for this board and it really rocks! Been using Nvidia for the last few years, this board has changed my attitude towards ATI For Sure!

Cons: Yeah it runs hot but according to speedfan I am just running 48C to 52C during intense game play. I can live with that

Other Thoughts: The board is outstanding and now with Linux drivers I am so glad I bought this board over the Nvidia I was looking at.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cards

Pros: I loved the first card sooo much I had to get a second one. I have been using these cards for over eight months, without a hitch, I check ATI's website for the latest Windows 7 drivers and these cards run flawlessly I run these cards unlocked so I can run the fan @ 100% and no problems with fans, and I never see temps higher than 55 on the primary card and on maxed setting in Modern Warfare 2. I like these cards better than the 5870s. If you are looking at buying a card that performs. Vapor-X is great!!!

Cons: Not really any Cons, the fans are loud at 100% but I can't hear them with a headset on. And the second is cosmetic the second cards sapphire logo isn't as bright as the primary's logo. So no "real" cons.

Other Thoughts: If you have any apprehension as to whether or not to purchase this card. I say buy it you won't be disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: + Works. Runs cooler than the other models of the HD 4870 that I've read about on Newegg.
+ Allows me to run Empire Total War, too bad it doesn't change the fact that the game is terrible.

Cons: - It's ginormo-super-gargauntuan sized. I had to pull my mid size tower apart just to put it in, and mold the wires from my psu around it. I'm not joking, it is more than half the length of my case, and although it doesn't get as hot as the other ones, it still gets hot.

Other Thoughts: o Didn't have the impact on the system I thought it would, but I only upgraded from an HD 4670 (also Sapphire) 512mb DDR3 128-bit. Was hoping for more of an explosive difference.

*If you're willing to pay for a great value card, make sure you're willing to pay 6 bucks for an aftermarket, descent fan. If you have vents near the slot you're putting this card, measure the size, and get a fan that will fit. Rig it on to help with the ventilation. This card idles at 60 degrees celsius, don't let it potentially damage your system if you can help it. Don't be afraid to drill vents in the case to make a spot, just think ahead!

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Card While It Worked

Pros: I bought the card that doesn't have the vapor-x cooling and boy what a card. Gameplay was fantastic. Almost all games would run on the highest settings with my Q6600.

Cons: Just like my last ATI card that I owned, the fan died on this one just after 6 months of use. When it does die the problems begin. First you have to contact Sapphire and explain your problem, which in turn they make you contact Althon Micro that you have to explain it all to again, and then you get to sit and wait for them to get back to you. What a joke!

Other Thoughts: I've had Nvidia cards since my first bad experience with ATI , but I decided to give ATI a second chance. I've come to realize that was a mistake. Nvidia cards aren't perfect, but at least EVGA takes care of you when you have a problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: This card is an amazing value. Upgraded from a 8800GTS to this and has made a world of difference. Can now play COD4 and COD MW2 on max settings. Can't quite run Crysis maxed out - only get 22-25 fps on max settings at 1920x1080, still rules for a card at this price.

Cons: Not really a con, but this card takes 2 - 6pin power connectors. Not an issue for me, but something to consider. Does come with 2 molex adapters, however I don't like the clutter or the hassle.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking at cards in this price range, you must buy this card!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Was a decent card when it was new.

Cons: After a few months my card is overheating, i turned fan up to 100 % but it still overheats and now has damage. It lasted just long enough so Icant rma it. Worse part is we built two systems same amd cpu same amd chip mb the system we used a nvida in (GTS250) is fine and actually looks and performs better. The Nvida was a less expensive card also.

Other Thoughts: Thinking back all the high performance type ATI cards i have owned i have had problems with

4 out of 5 eggsFast, HUGE!, Fast.

Pros: Fast. Reasonably quiet. Does what a 256 bit card should do.

Cons: HUGE! Why does every card with a 256 bit label on it have to be so frakkin big. CPU's have gotten smaller, yet more powerful and efficient. A 2.5" hard drive will easily give you the performance of many slightly older, and some newer 3.5" drives, and do it more efficiently. And so on.

Other Thoughts: ATI and nVidia need a kick in the seat of their pants. Maybe then they'll catch up with others in the computer industry.
