The Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 4870 card has 2GB of high-performance GDDR5 memory, clocked at 900MHz (3.6Gbps effective) and the GPU core is clocked at 750MHz. Supporting AMD CrossFireX technology, two high-speed connectors on each card allow two or more cards to be used together for enhanced performance when installed in a CrossFireX compatible motherboard.

Vapor-X 4870 2gb
- Pros: Card is extremely quiet even under load, and is completely inaudible at idle. Temperatures are nice, leading to very good overclocking. I've never been one to let the card use its "auto" fan speed control, but with this card, it works flawlessly, I never have to adjust it even under hours of GTA IV. In my antec 300 with two 120mm intake fans (only about 30-40 cfm) my card hits usually high 60's-low 70's under load... which is absolutely nothing to worry about.
- Cons: none so to speak, besides the price premium, but what you're paying for is the exceptional cooling design, which is well worth it if you're interesting in having a very quiet yet high performing card. ATI cards do not fold as well as nVidia's, but that's nothing something specific to this card. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase
- Other Thoughts: The 2GB onboard is not at all useless, especially for games in resolutions of 1080P or higher. A prime example is GTA IV which uses about 1.5GB of memory on its highest settings at 1920x1080. Not to mention game developers are now making games that utilize this memory even more, so it's an investment, not a waste, as the other person said.
much better
- Pros: Great cooling and very silent. Proven power via the RV 770 core with modified Bios. 2gigs of buffer memory makes huge difference in certain circumstances. Sapphire logo lights up blue and faces out of the case on the card to give a realy cool lighting effect.
- Cons: Its not a huge upgrade from the 1gig version altho cooling is the main thing your buying here.
- Other Thoughts: I replaced my 1gig cards and gave 2 of these a shot. At first glance there was no performance increase. 3Dmark 06 score was the same and most games ran the same. 2 places I did see a huge improvement was in World of Warcraft with view distance maxed and all settings maxed. The extra memory realy started to shine here and Sync my fps to have no difference in long view and short view situations. FEAR also got an upgrade of sorts. In the deadwood map Id drop from 150-200 fps to about 50-60 fps when I walked into the field with huge view distance. Now the fps never changes from the 150-200. It stays there all the time. All test was ran in 1080P resolution with all settings maxed. If your gamming in high res and huge landscapes cause your system to lose some performance than it seems this is the card for you. It is not an upgrade from a 1gig 4870 in most situations but it will stablize your fps when your 1gigs cards are pushed to the max in huge open 3d spaces.

Awesome
- Pros: It can handle all my games on maximum graphics, and maximum resolution, at a very high fps. It was pretty easy to install.
- Cons: It's huge, it takes up 2 slots. And the price.
Nice
- Pros: Good prive for 2gb. Gddr5 ram is always nice. it overclocks nice with the vapor-x cooling. Only need 2 2x3 power connectors.
- Cons: A little long but will fit most if not all mid atx cases.
What a great card!
- Pros: We have two installed and bridged for Crossfire. Incredible gaming performance. Picture is beautiful on LG LDC 1080p monitor. Excellent products.
- Cons: Way large. One pushes against the mobo's SATA plugs, and the other doesn't let me hook up the case's front panel audio connector. But I don't guess they can make them smaller and keep them cool at the same time ... at least, not yet!
