4 out of 5 eggsStill waiting for this card

Pros: Best of the best single GPU video card for 2009/10. With a great come back from ATI.
The history finally repeated it's self again - since the days of R300 when ATI ruled GPU market - back in year 2002/03.

ATI finally has fastest single GPU on the market; and Nvidia simply cannot do nothing about it.

Cons: This custom edition is out of stock :( :(

So I have to take one egg away for overall score; because I cannot buy it from newegg at this moment.

Other Thoughts: My computer right now is:
ASUS P5K-D Motherboard (Intel P35)
Intel quad Q9650 @ 3.6GHz (400x9FSB)
ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Patriot Viper 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PVS24G8500ELKR2)
ATI Iceq4 Radeon 4850 700core/1100mem
Antec 900 case.
2X Liteon 16X DVDRW SATA drive
Western Digital velociraptor 300gb SATA2
Western digital caviar 750gb SATA2
1.44mb floppy drive (just in case I may still need)
Antec high-end 550 watt power supply.

This computer is not for gaming, but I may play sometimes if I get a free moment.

4 out of 5 eggsDirect X-11 looks good

Pros: Fast Card , Runs cool ,DirectX-11, Runs games on high settings without a sweat.

Cons: DRIVERS! Can not get it to run with CCC. Though there is not much overclocking with the control center. First had black screen had to reset Bios to get it to post. Then pixles and gray and black lines . Dumped the Control Center and it works fine. One egg for that.

Other Thoughts: Replaced a GTX 260 216 core card , did not notice a $200 increase in performance. Better Bench marks and furture DirectX-11 Games make it a worth while card, but I miss the EVEA Percision software.

5 out of 5 eggsVery pleased

Pros: Excellent performer, easy OC and keeps cool.

Cons: Large card, but still smaller than others
Power hungry

Other Thoughts: Coming off of an AGP system with a 3850, this was quite an astonishing difference in performance. I've been very pleased.

4 out of 5 eggsVapor-X w00t !!

Pros: 1. Runs extremely cool. 30-34C on idle and 44-50C max while gaming for hours on stock fan speeds - I'm talking 30% fan speeds.
2. Very quiet ... not silent but not as loud as my GTX 260 which I had to bump to 80% fan speeds while gaming.
3. Graphics are smooth, significant FPS increase

Cons: 1. blows hot air from gpu into case and does not exhaust out the back of the case (non-issue if you have good case cooling)
2. Flicker on my 2nd monitor in dual monitor setup. I tried raising the idle and 2d clocks and memory as suggested but I still have this issue (this is where I have to give -1) It could be a driver issue, but more than likely it's a gpu bios issue which would require a flash, we'll see.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very satisfied with purchase. Still looking for a fix on the dual monitor flicker problem otherwise it would have been 5+ stars

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding

Pros: Fast, powerful, shorter than reference cards, runs cool, two free games, everything everyone else has said.

Cons: Price premium; HDMI cable needs some finessing to get it in; possibly received an open box.

Other Thoughts: I waited for the Vapor-X board because I was afraid the reference cards would be too large for my case. Glad I did. I have a Gigabyte Triton 180 case and this card just does fit (maybe 1/2 inch clearance from the drive cage). However, the slot ends don't quite want to line up right, so I can't really screw the card in; I'm using the screwless clasps. Not perfect, but it's secure and hasn't presented any problems.

I had one issue with HDCP but it was a config. setting with my monitor. I can play BDs fine with PDVD8 OEM.

The fan is loud when manually set high (amusingly loud, actually). But I game with headphones, so I can't really comment on the level during games. At idle, it's barely audible but does occasionally throttle up and down ever so slightly.

Re: open box. I think mine was a return. One of the outer stickers was peeled back, and the flap for the driver disk was folded. Oh well. Card works, and the game serial worked so I'm ok with it.

1 out of 5 eggsNewegg fail, Sapphire fail

Pros: 1. Great Vapor-X design. Looks far better than the other 5870s.

2. Great cooling soultion.

Cons: 1. You can only overclock the video card with ATi's CCC 30 MHZ above the stock speed. These cards were advertised by ATi to have a larger overhead specifically for overclockers, then they limit you.

2. My GPU arrived open-box. After checking the card out for about an hour, I see why it was open box. GPU became extremely hot at stock settings, and my system has not been stable since then.

Other Thoughts: My experience with Newegg up to this point have been satisfactory, until now. It was one thing to recieve a faulty GPU that had already been opened, but its another to make a customer wait even longer for a refund by having the merchandise shipped back from Florida to California via UPS ground. That takes 5 buisness days! In other words the package I mailed out Monday afternoon won't reach until the next Monday. This makes me question buying anything else from Newegg. If this is what i get for spending over $400 for a video card, then maybe I'm in the worng place.

5 out of 5 eggsUber fast!

Pros: You've heard all about it, and its all true! fast, cool, quiet... turn all your games up to the highest settings, and prepare to be very impressed!* No other single chip card comes close.

Cons: *Crysis is a poorly coded game, so your not going to run through it @ a solid 60 fps, but its exceptible. Not worth going crossfire for 1 game Imo. Also, nvidia cant compete so prices most likely wont come down untill they can. Good chance of that being the case for a long time.

Other Thoughts: Fits in the antec 900 just fine as long as you dont have a hardrive directly in front of it. Shouldnt be a problem.

Pros: FAST, cool, Fast, uses such a small amount of power for its performance, did i say FAST!!!! Runs any game i have at max settings with 4xAA 16xAF without a hitch...need i say more?

Cons: Drivers need some work but will only get better in time

Other Thoughts: First venture to the red side of graphics been a green man for a long time and i am VERY happy with my choise...may never go back...if you are thinking of getting this GET IT as soon as you have the chance

5 out of 5 eggsBest card I have ever used

Pros: Just about everything is a pro for this card. It's fast, very quiet, and runs very, very cool. I haven't OCed it (haven't even come close to needing to), so my temps have stayed pretty low. It idles between 34 - 38C and the hottest I've seen it get is a toasty 48C-- obviously very cool for a card of this caliber. I am simply blown away by its performance. For the price, it can't be beat.

Cons: I had to RMA my mobo because of dead RAM slots so I'm going to be waiting a while until the next time I can admire this beast.

Other Thoughts: As others have said, it blows hot air out into the case of the PC. I'm assuming this won't be too much of a problem for those who choose to purchase it since they'll likely have well ventilated machines.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Fast, Cool, Quiet. What else can you ask for in a GPU?

Cons: Blows heat into the case. Kind of a non-issue for my HAF 922 with 5 fans, but may be an issue for some.

Other Thoughts: To the guy who is claiming the quality isn't as good as an asus, the only asus card out right now is the reference card, so you could find the same exact build quality in any brand of the 5870. Also, I find the build quality on this card to be superb. It blows heat into the case, yes, but its designed to do so. The center fan is solid and has no vibration and the card beats anything else available right now. (may be slower than the OC'd xfx card, but it runs cooler and is cheaper, therefore still the better option in my opinion.)
