5 out of 5 eggsGreat non-gaming video card

Pros: It does what I needed it to do, which is to allow me to have a second (2nd) monitor that is not the same size as my primary monitor. Windows 7 is handling it easily.

Cons: The driver / application installation process wasn't clear to me. The CD's autorun didn't work.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't sure that this would be compatible with my Dell Vostro 230 mini tower purchased early in 2010, but it is indeed the correct slot type. I've watched DVDs and other videos on the VGA monitor while web-browsing on my DVI monitor. It works flawlessly. The rebate process is unnecessarily complicated. The hassle is probably not worth $15, but that represented 40% off, so I went through with it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice for Home Theatre

Pros: Low profile (includes brackets), silent, nice selection of ports, 7.1 sound, low power consumption, immediately recognized by Win 7, price.

Cons: DDR2 (vs DDR3) - but knew this from specs; not for serious gaming.

Other Thoughts: Nice bump from HD 3450 but 20-25% slower than similar model with DDR3. Not a big deal for this class card. Great for business apps, HTPC and casual gaming. Card is a bit long (7.5") - check for adequate clearance.

5 out of 5 eggssignificant improvement

Pros: This card made a significant improvement to my on-board chip. I have Windows 7 64 Pro and an Acer wide screen monitor with HDMI input and view quite a few Netflix films. Simply downloaded the latest driver and Catalyst Control Center (CCC) software from the ATI site (the packaged CD is not that recent). It all comes together in on convenient download. Depower your system, then ground yourself and insert the card. Windows 7 will put in a driver that works when you repower. At this point run the downloaded CCC + driver and it sets itself up nicely. Go into CCC and tweak to your delight. Don't forget to disable your old on-board video drivers via device manager, disable the on-board chip via BIOS if you have that option, and change the MOBO jumpers if you have any.

Cons: This is a home theater card, not for gamers.

Other Thoughts: My total system including modem, wireless hub, computer (AMD 4 core w/ 8 gig) , widescreen monitor, and decent 5.1.speakers runs between 130 and 170 (peak) Watts. My 300 Watt power supply was ample. The card runs warm, but not hot to the touch and is, of course, silent. It added less than 25 Watts to my total power consumption. With or without the rebate this is a good, cheap home theater option.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes pretty good indeed.

Pros: Great price. Easy install. Usual great Newegg shipping. Handles Flightgear with no hiccups.

Cons: If installing under Ubuntu 10.04 make sure that all updates are loaded. It took me some time to get it working on my system due to driver problems.

Other Thoughts: The card will not "fry" your hard drive. There is no way it can. If you try to install with the system running there is a possibility that you could damage your motherboard by doing such a bonehead stunt, but not the hard drive.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price!

Pros: Runs SC2 on Medium-High settings Factory Default (with 1.87 Duo Core Dell E520 system)
Excellent price. Be sure to fill out your rebate card!

Cons: Happened to fry my Operating System when I installed it. Required total hard drive reformat (I happened to be in the awkward position of nothing backed up when it happened... bye bye data...) Be careful when switching out your cards! I suggest disconnecting your hard drive before you stick it in =p

Other Thoughts: Definitely better than the -obsolete- (it's no longer supported by ATI) X1550 my stupid computer shipped with, that's for sure! Newegg actually sells my old card for over $100US.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect boxer htpc card

Pros: Simple install, works with w7 without drivers.
It IS also a sound card that does at least 5.1 might do 7.1 but I never tested that.
It will pass both video and audio through the hdmi port so it's all you need for turning an old desktop into an htpc.
Smple driver install if you choose to use the ati / sapphire drivers

Cons: My only beef is that it wasn't apparent in the the description that this does audio natively. When building a home theater PC, you want a video card that does hdmi with audio, they need to better about describing their products.

Other Thoughts: If you're building a boxee or xbmc or other htpc, this is a perfect, inexpensive card.

5 out of 5 eggsNice budget card

Pros: low price
can run starcraft 2 on ultra settings although the frame rate is less than ideal.
installed nice and easy

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: this was my first build and the goal of the build was to create a gaming computer for $300. The final cost was around $360 and everything is running great.

other specs:
processor: AMD Sempron 2.7ghz processor (second core unlocked)
mother board: ASUS M4A785-M
ram; 2x 1gb 800
