5 out of 5 eggsfast on the cheap

Pros: Paid around 72.00 after 10% off and MIR. Temps are not bad, after extensive burnin it now idles at 49-50c for hours on end initally high mark was 72c (furmark) looping, now hours on end 68- 69c with auto fan settings . Oc settings gpu 670 and ram 925mhz all day long rock stable all gaming and torture tests, i use ms! afterburner.

Cons: Hate to give it a con for the price but wish it would have been loaded up with 1 gb of DDR5. And it has no voltage control.

Other Thoughts: When saphire lays out another sale on this, I plan getting another one to CF for $h*ts and giggles.
System specs:
Antec 1200 (case)
Phenom II X4 955 - (4.0 ghz)
Memory - 4 gigs DDR 2 (850 mhz) cas4
HD - Raptor 300 gig
M/B - gigabyte 790x
Video - 4850
P/S - Antec 850w

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Really, really fast card for the money.

Cons: Card runs hot.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a budget gaming build for a friend. Couldn't be happier with the performance - paired with a X2 550 and 4gb of DDR3 1600 it handles most games at 1600x900/max quality without a hitch. As other reviewers have mentioned, the card does run hot - during the first month we had several instances of the card overheating after a few hours under load. I paid $20 for a better cooler and those issues have been resolved. Still pleased with the purchase, and after the rebate (which I received surprisingly promptly) feel that the value was still good even after the extra $20 investment.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful for the price

Pros: Upgraded an Evga 9500GT card with this one. 3D Mark 06 benchmark
went from 4337 to 10068, Quite an improvement. Windows experience index for gaming graphics went from 6.2 to 7.3 . Runs cooler too. Playing Just Cause 2 fps went from a dismal 12 to a very
playable 30.

Cons: Playing Cities XL, I had to set the quality to low settings in order to play the game properly down from medium with the 9500GT. But I think it might be a problem with the game itself because every other
game I played had a great improvement in quality.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I think this is the best card for the money. I was going to buy a cheaper card but why upgrade a little bit when you could upgrade a lot for $20 or $30 more.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed After 1 Year...

Pros: Worked great

Cons: And now I get lag spikes every 1-2 Minutes, which last ~30 seconds each in every DirectX application. (Not OpenGL or DVD's) Even my onboard video card is better than that.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy. Go for a lower end 5000 series card instead.

5 out of 5 eggsHOT card but easily workable

Pros: alright I was not gonna post a review but I figured I might as well after reading the review below. White flashing lights ect and a disco show-heat problem.

This card runs EXTREMELY HOT. In a normal case it will idle around 55-68c and on load can reach 90c if your case is not vented correctly. This card deserves a solid 5 STAR rating across the board for its prices.

Its dirt cheap for the amount of power you are getting. Plain and simple. Worth every penny.

Cons: HOT. THE CARD IS HOT. Do not listen or believe anyone telling you something otherwise. Highly advise and upgraded cooler ESPECIALLY if you are going to overclock this. The GPU wont take alot of extra but the memory has alot of overhead room to work on.

Other Thoughts: This card will perform better than a 5770 if you take care of it and know what you are doing. I just cant handle bad reviews on things that are avoidable.

Remember, research ANY 4850 from back in the day and you will realize these cards are HOT lil suckers. Dont let it scare you...its only 99 bucks!!!

Good luck.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the money, runs hot

Pros: Great performance for the price. I'm running Starcraft 2 on ultra quality at 1920x1200. 512 MB GDDR5 is nice to have at this price point. (GDDR5 is part of the 4870 spec)

Cons: The card does run a bit hot. I was getting some artifacting with the stock cooler with ultra settings on Starcraft II. After upgrading to the Arctic Cooling S1 VGA fan, its running much better. Another downside to the card is that there aren't any heatsinks for the RAM chips.

1 out of 5 eggsVERY DISAPPOINTED

Pros: none

Cons: I just bought this video card from Newegg, and so far it was a terrible purchase for me. This is my first Radeon and first Sapphire card. My problems have only been discovered in Starcraft 2 so far since all my other games are much older. The suggested settings in the game for Lighting and Shadow Quality is Low, while all other settings are Ultra. Furthermore, while in game on lightning maps, there are blue and red colored lights flashing all over the screen. It looks like flashbulbs going off at a concert or sporting event. Also, there is some white noise that looks like many 1 white pixels of static going on and off. I have the latest 10.7a driver installed, and the problem also occurred with 10.7. I have not noticed any crashing or heat problems, but it is very annoying.

Other Thoughts: I am so sorry that I did not buy an nvidia card, because I have never had a problem with them. Sometimes good deals backfire with nothing buy aggravation. Furthermore, I got sucked into a rebate for $10 that takes 8-10 weeks to get back after the paperwork has been submitted.
