The new SAPPHIRE HD 7950 models are the second family of graphics cards to incorporate the latest generation of GPU’s from AMD built in a new 28nm process and featuring the new GCN optimised graphics processing architecture. The HD 7950 GPU has a new internal structure with 1792 Stream processors and a 384-bit high speed memory interface with over 264GB/sec memory bandwidth.

The SAPPHIRE HD 7950 OC Edition, which is factory overclocked to 900MHz and features SAPPHIRE’s new dual-extractor technology - Dual-X - a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans providing quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.

For enthusiasts wishing to maximise performance, a new version of the SAPPHIRE overclocking tool, TriXX supporting this latest generation of technology is available free to download from the SAPPHIRE website. TriXX allows tuning of GPU voltage as well as core and memory clocks, whilst continuously displaying temperature. Manual control of fan speed is supported, as well as user created fan profiles and the ability to save up to four different performance settings. Both of the SAPPHIRE HD 7950 models have a dual BIOS, allowing for further experimentation by the enthusiast. On the OC edition, the second BIOS is pre-programmed to allow a higher maximum overclock and more aggressive fan profile.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks for about a month

Pros: Relatively fair price for specs

Cons: unstable in factory defaults, the fan has a lifespan of about 1 month. I did not modify the fan speeds in any way. I just used the product since the beginning of december.

Other Thoughts: I would avoid sapphire in the future.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card...when it works

Pros: Fast, a lot of features, super quiet, runs, cool, 2 yr warranty

Cons: Unstable without even trying to over clock. Very sensitive to software updates. Lacks VGA connection, single DVI connection.

Other Thoughts: I've tried for a year to be patient with this card and now it is time to get it replaced. This thing would run fine for awhile and then if you bumped a cable or monkeyed with video cables while the machine was running, it would crash the computer. Other times, a Windows update or a Flash Player update would cause it to blow up. One crash destroyed my Win 7 install and I had to rebuild. Two crashes ago, I had to physically unistall the card and reinstall it. That was good for about two weeks and boom, it blew up again. Now my machine won't boot with the card installed. Thank goodness for the built in video on my i7 processor. Time to send this bad boy back for a replacement.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, bad fans

Pros: Runs everything great, no driver issues since installed.

Cons: Fans started vibrating and barely spin now with less than a year of service.

Pros: Worked on most games.

Cons: Would not work on Modern Warfare games. Videos choppy. Neither Newegg nor manufacturer would offer refund after first month.

1 out of 5 eggsGo with the GTX 670!

Pros: Good cooling.

Cons: AMD really messed people over with the 7950. The card costs $400 (when I bought it) and it comes completely under spec'd. I know some will say, "but it overclocks like a beast". Oh yeah no doubt it overclocks way past its stock clocks but I should not have to do that when the Nvidia "equivalent" gives me more performance out of the box at the same price! And even when you overclock the 7950, the performance increase is minimal. Not to mention that manually overclocking video cards can sometimes cause problems in some games because they may conflict with the overclocking software, i.e. Bad Company 2 and Afterburner. With the 7950 overclocked to 1150/1450 I got a smooth 60fps in BF3 on Medium settings. With the 670 I can get the same frames on High settings! Lastly, AMD's driver support which includes their uninstaller is horrible. I have and AMD motherboard so I would have to be careful not to accidentally uninstall my chipset drivers etc. I am now only buying Nvidia and when I upgrade

2 out of 5 eggsNot too shabby

Pros: - Well built
- O.C
- 2 Fans
- Unlocked Voltage / Cores

Cons: - Drivers are bad
- Very large (Although expected)
- Price
- Came under spec'd

Other Thoughts: I bought this to go with my new gaming rig (Details below) I figured it would be a while till the new 600 series GTX cards released so I bought this instead. The price is VERY high, for a GPU to this standard, barely gives me more FPS then what I had before (6850) does not overclock well. Discontinued? Says a lot for this product.

I tried to get a refund but I guess I was too late as it was literally a day after the month period. My card is pretty bad, artifacts sometimes (Fixed when I up'd the voltage)

I should have waited but I was eager to get a new GPU and I F'd myself.

PC Specs:

i5 2500K O.c 4.5Ghz
Corsairs 1600 DDR3 8Gb ram
650 Corsairs Enthusiast PSU
Western Digital 7200RPM 500Gb HDD
MSI Z68MA-G45 B3 Mobo
Sapphire 7950 GPU

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: The cooling on the OC edition is fantastic. Definitely worth the extra money. It also is very quiet. This has handled every game I've thrown at it on max settings. I'll probably set it up in crossfire once the price goes down.

Cons: it's a bit long, but that's to be expected from top end gpus. It still fits perfectly fine in my antec 900 v3, although I did have to remove the extra case fan housing. Not an actual fan... just an extra housing, but it didn't bother me because the case already has tons of cooling. This card might be considered a bit overpriced now since the gtx670 is out... but this card is available, and it came with 3 games, and has none of the fan issues I've been hearing about with the 670.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy this card again, especially if the price goes down a bit.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Graphics

Pros: Incredible graphics.
Fast.
Easy installation.
Great windows interface.
Stays cool with the two fans.
Skyrim is so fast I don't have time to read the tip screens between scenes loading and I'm a pretty fast reader.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this over the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card (11196-00-40G) model because the core clock is slightly faster and it has two fans instead of one. It stays nice and cool in my Rosewill blackhawk-ultra case hooked into my new Asus Sabertooth X79 mobo. I see details in some of my older games that I've never been able to see before like dust from the ground when my horse in Skyrim trots through certain areas.

3 out of 5 eggsNot much better

Pros: NA

Cons: Blue Screens and several driver failed notices

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to upgrade my existing 5850 series. I see very little changes in performance even after upgrading my processor to Ivy Bridge and added tons of Memory. I am very dissapointed to have seen a few blue screens and several recovery errors. I would wait until better drivers come out.

3 out of 5 eggsFailed after 2.5 months?

Pros: Chewed through Everything on a Single Screen,
Chewed through everything in Eyefinity.

Cons: Noticed a Weird fan noise at around 70--90% RPM,
Woke up today, went to the system, the screen saver was scrambled, and from that point on all i could do is sit in dis-belief.

Other Thoughts: Seemed like the Card was flexing A lot, and the GPU possibly came loose from the board.
