2 out of 5 eggsnoisy!

Pros: this a re-review... works as stated, and then some

Cons: 1 month before warrenty runns out this thing goes nuts! ...all of a sudden it sounds like a ringing bell going off, no it just my video card, then quiet for a while then it goes nuts again! have to turn sound way up to hear when it is dinging

Other Thoughts: this is my first sapphire card and it started making noise at almost 2 yrs, I normally do not upgrade until 3-4 yrs (still working good!) then buy the newest available tech that i can afford, my sapphire card didn't last 2 yrs.

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry that you have had problems with your graphics card.

As it is still under warranty you can get a replacement through us directly.

We do hope that your return goes smoothly.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid, stable play on all games

Pros: Solid design with not too much power usage
Stable drivers
Great all around player, it just plays

Cons: Nothing really
We tested this thing almost 2 years later with FRAPS on it still maintains its stable core.
Several of my nVidia cards have fried, I have 1 left that is good, I seem to do better with AMD Radeons.

Other Thoughts: Things in the PCIe 3.0 slot can use a lot of power PCIe is there for amazing speed to the processor and back, this card is super stable, not a power hog, and the drivers never crash, I have this custom build almost 2 years now.

I this price point, this Radeon card nails it.

2 out of 5 eggsgood performance but blue screens too often

Pros: good performance

Cons: blue screens

Other Thoughts: About a year ago I was anxiously awaiting the Radeon HD 7800 series to be released to replace my 4770. I bought this card almost immediately when it became available on Newegg. From the day I got it, I have had issues with occasional blue screens. I don't know if I have a bad card or if the drivers are just bad, but I'm leaning towards drivers. Driver revisions over the months have made some games more stable and other less stable. My computer is stable when I'm not playing a game, and a few games work without issues. But most games blue screen once per ~3-6 hours of gameplay. The error is usually with a component related to DirectX.

I didn't do anything for the longest time because I kept telling myself "this will be fixed in the next driver release." I have run diagnostics and stress tests on my system and they all pass. I'm afraid that the card probably works well enough and it's been long enough since I bought it that I won't be able to get a warranty replacement. But it definitely doesn't work well enough for me to be happy with it.

4 out of 5 eggsLittle bit of a bottlekneck

Pros: It runs most (most) games without a hitch. It stays cool at all times.

Cons: There seems to be a little bit of a bottleneck. The processor isn't quite fast enough to make full use of the 2GB of memory.

Other Thoughts: It won't run everything maxed on Assassin's creed 3 :(

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth buying, glad it was discontinued.

Pros: Quick install

Cons: Cannot run DirectX 10 or higher, and even at times haves trouble running DX 9, I'm only running one monitor off of it and it barely works for great graphics, not worth the buy at all if you want great graphics.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Card, Bad Drivers

Pros: Really nice looking graphics card and runs smoothly at a low temperature.

Cons: Some issues with it was randomly my screen would go black and white lines running vertically or just a grey screen. I looked around the internet and it seemed it wasn't me either. Several threads on sites like Tom's Hardware also were about the same topic.

Other Thoughts: It turned out it was the Driver's fault. I downloaded the newest Beta Catalyst Driver and since then it's been working perfectly fine and satisfying me. It's a great card I guess I just didn't have a nice first week with it.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry that you have had initial problems with your card.

We do recommend that all users use the latest drivers available from the AMD website to reduce the chance of any software issues.
