3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This card has worked well for me in terms of it's listed capabilities.

Cons: This card is extremely loud and there is no recourse to change the fan speed. Will overheat with fan unplugged. Needs an aftermarket cooling solution to even be considered for a HTPC, even though that is really the only reason to buy it.

Other Thoughts: Worth about seven buck$ AR, which is what I paid for it.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: This card is full of issues. Not only with vista drivers, but it seems like if you use some of the more advanced shader techniques, the card has a tendency to crash. Bringing your whole computer down. This can happen in modern games like UT3 and DiRT.
Really not worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, but look elsewhere

Pros: Cheap and effective for non-intensive games or lower resolutions (think 1024x768)

Cons: The card is too loud for HTPC. The fan on this thing is the loudest noise on my PC.

Other Thoughts: This Card idled in the ~48C and Load at no higher than ~70C, with case around 24-28C. I under clocked it with ATItool and got it down to 30C idle(66Mhz core)and had the app auto increase to overclock when 3D is detected. Moreover, look at the 8800GT for 150$ after rebate.

4 out of 5 eggsI blame Vista

Pros: Price is great. HL2, CS2, Guild Wars and various games on Steam look awesome.

Cons: It is noisy but hey I'm not trying to build a quiet computer. This card does make noise but it is in a family / gaming computer and the CPU fan is a beast too.

Other Thoughts: Price is great. Built this PC in Oct 2007 in a SilverStone case with a ASUS M2A-VM and I hated Vista for the first 3 and a half months of ownership due to constant crashes. The crashes ranged from memory to video card to unknown. I was doing bios and driver updates as soon as a new one was available. Always changing settings. Now, the system runs great but there are still some issues with some programs in Vista. Just installed SP1 for Vista so ... time to test.

2 out of 5 eggsOverheats!

Pros: Compact card, HDCP, Audio over HDMI, Cheap (both in a good way $ and a bad way, quality); comes with the AMD DVI-HDMI adapter (only way to get audio); would be great if it weren't for the MAJOR con below. When it works, it handles all HD content smoothly. The hardware assisted decoding is terrific. I highly recommend the HD 25600XT over the lower AMD cards and even the nVidia 8600GT cards for HTPC, just not this one. It may be the reason why the rebate is so high -- almost half the price, makes you wonder.

Cons: Loud! louder than other HD 2600XT cards I've tried. Even with a loud fan, this card overheats often and just shuts down. Very annoying. It seems to shut down quicker when running Media Center full screen with HD OTA content. I've tried it in 3 different machines with the same results. Also, ran some of my sons games and it crashed them too. Diamond support is giving me the run-around: "does it crash before you install the video drivers?" HUH? I think they know that they messed up this card pretty badly.

Other Thoughts: I hate it when people write reviews and don't mention what they are using a video card for (gaming or HTPC?, HD?). I'm using this card in an HTPC with Vista Ult. with the Media Center and also the Xbox HD DVD drive with PowerDVD. I want a quiet, stutter-free experience at 1080p. Gaming is not important to this rig.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Card Some down side

Pros: Its a Great card for the price will run just about anything very clean. I play crysis on it all the time, Oblivion on Full and most other games on Full. with a steady 50-70 FPS on Oblivion

Cons: It Will over heat on you, on really anygame my pc will just shut down. I have 2 120mm fans 2 80mm fans in case, its not my case I have great air flow. This thing is just very hot don't know why, just suggest getting different Card.

Other Thoughts: Maybe if your going to Get water cooling setup and want to save money in other places this would be the card but I wouldn't get this for crossfire if two heat up you could imagine some damage to other components.

But I like the card I'm going to work a way to cool it down

5 out of 5 eggshad it since 10/11/07

Pros: this is a great card,i didn't know much when i got it but it turned out awesome! it's good if you don't care about gettin over 100fps in every game...i max out every game an never get below 50fps..on all new games..even crysis!(on medium in DX9 OR DX10)
For the money you'll feel very satisfied!

Cons: i didn't get a crossfire motherboard lol not really a con..i haven't owned any other graphics cards but i know this one is great compared to what people say about others

Other Thoughts: ALWAYS keep in mind some games are designed for ATI an some for NVIDIA...some say this, like the orange box...but trust me...this card can handle it if you ain't got the money to get a 2900,8800,or 3850

1 out of 5 eggsCheap but not cheap enough

Pros: I can't think of anything to praise except that it sort of works, but poorly. This board replaces an ATI All-in-Wonder AGP, because my new motherboard required PCI-Express. I've used ATI boards for many years, but this one is a disgrace.

Cons: Very poor drivers. Dragging a window over an open browser or DOS window corrupts the fonts. I'm using drivers only -- the Catalyst app gave continual initialization errors on boot, so I uninstalled it.

Other Thoughts: Using drivers from CDROM. Tried new drivers from ATI website and got a STOP blue screen during boot (a first for me and XP). The Diamond website is useless -- check it out: This board can't even be found. In the next few weeks I will replace it with and an nVidia. ATI, I'm gone.

4 out of 5 eggsGood stuff.

Pros: The card is able to kick out some nice graphics. plus, no power connection is needed! That I do like!

Cons: The fan is a bit noisy! I'm thinking of getting a Zalman cooler for it. The fan really cranks up while playing STALKER.

Other Thoughts: An nVidia 8600GTS puts out an average of 10fps more on STALKER.
But the price is not bad for only a 10fps drop!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Performs very well. Running Half-Life 2/Portal/Team Fortress 2 full resolution and highest settings on 22" monitor. Runs other games medium or high settings. Runs Crysis low settings at 1280x720.

Price is hard to beat.

Cons: Stock fan loud as heck. Stock temperatures not too high, but not low either. I ended up getting a much quieter and efficient aftermarket cooler for it.

Other Thoughts: Running with Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane, 2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, XP Professional.
