Great card
- Pros: Great graphics, great card overall. I've had no problems whatsoever with it. Handles whatever I throw at it with extreme ease.
- Cons: Pricey and quite large. Other than that, nothing.
- Other Thoughts: Pretty big, but nothing a mid tower can't handle. Good experience with it overall, no problems yet, and I don't expect to have any. If you're looking for a great balanced card, this is it.
The picture you see here is not what they send you. Card runs way too hot at idle, loads bake the MOBO!!!!!
- Pros: Performance is great if you can keep the temps down. This card works best if Crossfired with another one. But as a single card, don't expect much.
- Cons: Diamond if packing this box with a different card now. The one they sent looks more like an old 2900 series with no enclosure and huge heat pipes exposed out the side. This card runs extremely hot at idle and when playing a game, it felt like an EASY BAKE OVEN in my case.
- Other Thoughts: I have a 4870X2 that runs 42C at idle with 50% Fan. When playing Crysis maxed out it runs 58C with 50% Fan.
This card runs 57C idle with 50% Fan and ran 74C% with 50% Fan playing crysis maxed out.
I don't blame New Egg, but I do blame Diamond. When I called their tech support, they said that they changed the model number for the card with a different design. They said it is the same card, its just looks different.
Well if you buy a Dodge Ram Quad Cab Laramie and they ship a Dodge Dakota 2 Door sport to the dealer......would you take it? I think not.
Don't buy Diamond
- Pros: 4870 1Gig works well, it is not the card design it is Diamond MM. Really bad customer support.
- Cons: Re: Diamondmm, THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR REBATES, CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS NON EXISTANT. I purchased a 4870 going on 6 mo ago, a $30 rebate was applied for. No record of submission is the common reply from Diamond. The secend time I sent the documentation via Certified mail which they signed for. No record of submission replied Diamond.
They have done the exact same thing to my friend in SO CAL. I will never buy a Diamond product again nor do I recommend this company to anyone else.
