-34C to 40 average idle temps -45C to 60C average Gaming Full Load Temps -22518 3DMark06 Score using Q9650 OC to 3.6GHZ -Comes with Free Dirt2 offer until 15 January, 2010 -Native HDMI and Display Port -Requires less power than previous 4800 series -Able to maxx out almost every game out there
Cons: *Read Previous Review & Below
No real cons to think of just Performance Info:
-Stutters slightly when using AA in Games like Far Cry2. Most likely due to ATI Catalyst drivers needing some tweaking as usual
-Can overclock the card but its already high. The control panel only lets you boost the GPU Clock another 50MHZ and the Memory Clock 1000MHZ. Most people on blogs have been reporting only being able to add 25MHZ extra to the GPU clock and 300MHZ to the Memory Clock, so you will not see much of a performance gain when overclocking, it's kinda pointless.
-Direct 11 Games look Great but most of that Eye candy means lower Frame Rates with just this single 5870. The real benefit will come with Crossfire Configs or higher.
Other Thoughts: Overall this is one smoking Video Card. It performs almost exactly as the 4870X2, and it does so with less power and produces a lot less heat. It also whips the Geforce 275, 285 severly. And even the 295GTX in some tests.
If you are wanting to upgrade from a ATI 3000 series or lower, Geforce 285 and lower then this card is the best you can get. You will see a world of difference.
But if you are upgrading from a 4870, 4890, or 4870X2, then you might not be too impressed at first Visually. The Frame Rates will be higher but not so high as too make your jaws drop.
The benefits from upgrading from the 4800 series to the 5800 series, at the current prices are the following:
4800 Series to 5800 series DirectX 10.1 DirectX11 55nm 40nm 800 Stream Procs 1600 Stream Procs Mem Clock 900MHz(3.6Gbps) 1200MHz (4.8Gbps)

Absolute Beast of a Card! Blows away my 4870X2!!!!
Reviewed By: MarkBDB666 on 1/3/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: -40nm Process -1600 stream Procs -Overclocking Headroom -Runs cooler than last gen -Fastest Single card out there
Cons: -Some complain of small exhaust in back, but I have had no problems with heat at all. This runs 10c Cooler than my old 4870X2 with a full load
Other Thoughts: My friend bought 2 5970's for a Quad-Fire Config. And I bought 1 5870. We compared our 2 systems and I almost had the same FPS in all the games we ran.
Later I will buy the 5970 and Tri-fire them like I did with the 4870X2 and a 4870.
Reports I have read are showing that 2 5870's are running smoother and faster than the 5970. Mainly because the 5970 is clocked lower than the 5870. Also people are still have problems getting 4 GPU's to blend correctly with ATI's Drivers.
2 5970's are overkill and they just bottleneck each other badly.
If you want a 5970, only go with a Tri-fire config with a a 5870, it blends much better and the results are outstanding.
Also I bought mine from another company because Newegg was always Out of Stock. I will but the 5970 here later when they become available. (IF THAT EVER HAPPENS)

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Had zero problems installing drivers/misc. display issues. I decided to upgrade my 4870 OC and I can already notice the framerate difference in games like TF2 and CoD. No lag in a beautiful 1080p environment!
Cons: As with other people, I am going to blame ATI's drivers for doing this, but..
- I only notice sometimes, but when I minimize a window, there will be a couple flashy lines across the screen. It's not something that interrupts me at all when gaming -- In fact, the only time gaming and I had an issue is when I have Steam's web browser open and active, but not when hidden. I refuse to dock an egg for this as it is not a distraction at all, it's barely even worth mentioning but I know some people are nit picky so I felt like they should be informed.
Other Thoughts: I'm excited to see what will be coming out of DX11, and later this year I plan on putting in another one of these to have an extremely powerful Crossfire setup. Everything runs so smoothly maxed out. This card really shines in performance. Top notch.

Great Card

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Direct X11 Extremely fast Runs just about any game you throw at it Can have multiple monitors plugged into a single card Quiet
Cons: Tad large
Other Thoughts: If you're planning on putting two in crossfire, I'd suggest waiting for the Dual GPU version of this card to come out; it will be cheaper than two cards and perform almost as well... already fast to begin with.
