SLI on a dime
- Pros: Obviously the price point(got 2 (- $79 & $59 after rebates)
Good performance for the cost Rocks in SLI mode!!! handles crysis @ 1920 x 1080 (no AA) smooth....flies @ 1600 x 900 (with AA) SCREAMING PERFORMANCE with anything else I throw at it in sli modes!!
- Cons: setup, driver and configuration issues. I have been a I have been a pc tech for many years, and these were a pain to get working stable. new 180.48 driver helped a lot.
- Other Thoughts: Still have to reboot to change the sli focdus display, more of a hassle than I planned on, but once I do that it really flies in sli mode (these cards are pretty fair in single mode as well) I hope upgrading to vista32 will help....dx10 is better, so I'm hoping that will resolve some of the minor issues I'm having.
Overall though those are minor issues mostly related to configuration. Are these good value cards? YES!! They are supposed to be the new "entry level" nvidia solution, but get 2 and run in sli like I do and U'll see!! I had envisioned sli costing considerably more, but thanks to Asus it's cheap & cool!! Great solution for those on tight budgets, who still want to game with either 1 or 2 you will get a decent gaming experience (good for htpc as well) My specs: AMD 5200+ dual core OC'd to 2.86ghz wd sata hd, DL- dvd burner 2 GB corsair xms2 4-4-4-12 timing Biostar 570 SLI system board
Didn't work for me :(
- Pros: Looked great and had a big fan. Came with all the accessories needed and had well written installation instructions. ASUS tech support was also very helpful when I encountered problems.
- Cons: This card wouldn't allow powerup of motherboard. After several attempts and help from tech support I can only assume the card was defective. See Below.
- Other Thoughts: I tried to get the card to work using two different motherboards (ECS and Gigabyte, both newer models with 780G chipsets) and three power supplies (430, 500 and 550W) all of which worked fine by themselves or with other cards. At first I thought I might have power issues with Amperage/Wattage since this card is quite power hungry, requiring 26A on the 12V. Even my 8800GT only requires 22A. Regardless, even the lowest wattage PS had 29A available so that shouldn't have been an issue. With the 6-pin plug NOT attached the MB would power up, but of course I'd get no display and the card would beep, alerting me that no power was supplied to the card. Ultimately I RMA'd it which was sad since I really liked the cards stats and the other reviews. I got a refund and opted for a different card since there may have been an odd chance the power issue was the reason for my problems.

Very Nice!
- Pros: Good card for the Price (especially with mail-in rebate). Running it full time in a computational application (CUDA 2.0 Atomic Processing) rather than gaming, and no problems so far. Much quieter than I expected given the huge fan.
- Cons: Runs a little hot (82-83 degrees), but I am pushing the card really hard.
- Other Thoughts: Quick Shipping from Newegg.
