1 out of 5 eggsDead after 3 Months

Pros: Good looking card. Worked great for the first 3 months with an ASUS P6T Workstation Professional motherboard. GPU fan wasn't to loud.

Cons: Only worked for 3 months. ASUS customer service is a little hard to get in-touch with. I also have to pay for the shipping to get my card to the repair center.

2 out of 5 eggsHOA (hot on arrival)

Pros: Looks cool.
Small size footprint.

Cons: Running, the temperature ranged from a very high 70C idle to extremely high 120C load (using Mass Effect, all high settings).

Other Thoughts: After I received and installed the card and was on Windows, the temperature (using gpu-z 0.3.4) was 70C idle, after playing Mass Effect with all settings on high, the temperature jumped to 120C. RMA'd immediately afterwards.
This behavior occurred while the fan was running 80%-100% speed with the current nVidia drivers and everything otherwise normal.
I thought with a good brand name like ASUS (I own and love their motherboards), that a video card would be decent, but I learned my lesson and now only buy from higher-end video card manufacturers.

4 out of 5 eggsSexy

Pros: Looks sexy and so does my game graphics. Not as big as my previous 8800gtx cards. Love how it only uses one 6-pin power connector

Cons: Fan does seem to get a bit louder than normal after a few hours of extensive play.

Other Thoughts: Might pick up a second card for COD-MW2

2 out of 5 eggsCard dead within a month

Pros: Feels solid. Runs farely quiet (after the initial max fan at boot).

Cons: Died within a month. PC would not POST. Had to RMA.

Other Thoughts: ASUS support is terrible. I had to get the contact info from Newegg, to track them down. I've never had a problem with an ASUS mobo other ASUS stuff is apparently a whole diff story (DVD-RW also died right after warranty ran out).

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGTS 250 55nm

Pros: mine was a 55nm shorter one with 1 connector
it runs very cool and uses very little power
it performs almost as well for what i need out of it as a 260 would have

Cons: it was not free.

Other Thoughts: really great card especially if you want something with a low failure rate and high performance rate without cooking or costing a fortune to run

3 out of 5 eggs512MBs do NOT all have 2 6-pin connectors

Pros: GTS 250 is a strong card able to handle any game on the market

Cons: 9800GTX+ being passed as GTS 250. GTS 250 is shorter and only requires one 6 pin connector, while the 9800GTX takes 2.

Other Thoughts: Don't have to take previous review's word for it.. just look up other 512mb GTS 250s on this site. They all take one 6-pin and are shorter. Nvidia gave manufacturers the option to sell their remaining 9800gtx as GTS 250.. this is a fact. Asus has decided to take them up on it.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS Quality

Pros: Quiet (vs my previous card)
Energy efficient (doesn't require large PSU)
Not a reference board
large fan and cooler
Better than other GTS250's

Cons: Double Slots (minor issue)
HDMI is done with adapter
ASUS software is kind of annoying (if you use it)

Other Thoughts: I got this card with a rebate--still waiting for it. This card is near silent, but has a low hum that doesn't drive one crazy versus my other card. Feels like quality components and design. Can't really say I have any regrets getting this card.

5 out of 5 eggsLoving the upgrade!

Pros: Planned to wait till I had two of these in my grasp and run SLI but decided to run with one for now. With core 2 duo 8400 and 4gb ddr2 800mhz backing it up this card has run completely flawless. It showed me it's pure power when I ran "FEAR perseus mandate" with max all, x4, and max rez on my HDTV and got a max 375 FPS and minimum 70 FPS. The quality and performance blew me away. This is a great card for it's price. I can't wait to get another one.

Cons: None so far, it's quiet and runs cool in my Antec 900.

Other Thoughts: Yes this is the 9800 GTX+ DK upgraded. What I like most about the upgrade is that it only requires one 6 pin aux power instead of two. Thank you Asus.

5 out of 5 eggs:)

Pros: Good frame rates in the middle of the road games I play, attractive card

Cons: SmartDoctor reporting fan problems... but I think this is from me slowing it down with the tools
Little warm... I'm still working on airflow through my machine.

Other Thoughts: The cons I listed are I think are just waiting for me to resolve them, I'm just too busy enjoying my new machine. The picture here on newegg is what I received, a little longer card then the 1GB version. I looked up the card on ASUS and they showed the same length card as the 1GB version with the single power connector. My case is just a 1/8" too short so this card is tweaked just a bit but working fine.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus 250GTS

Pros: I purchased the Asus 250 GTS Graphics Card on June 3rd, with my old BFG 6200 OC i was getting 3.7 Fps on Grand Theft Auto 4, the new card ig giving me 30 Fps at full resolution on my Compaq CV935 Monitor, no complaints at all with the card.

Cons: I will not deduct any eggs but, my 8 day accelerated rebate which comes out to $22 still has not been acknowledged by Asus, does it take 3 weeks to mail the rebate to Asus from Pennsylvania to California ? I mailed the rebate form on May 13th.
