Revised Review
- Pros: - Inexpensive HTPC card.
- Has Win7 Drivers ( though might be rough install ). - Has an HDMI Port. - Claims to be supported. - Comes in a small box.
- Cons: Went from Aero Windows Experience Index of 4.1 to that of 3.7 when swapping in this card. The previous card was a 3+ year old ATI X1300. How is that possible?
Driver install requires patience, and a few crashes.
Added: New 9.11 release solves nothing, ATI support will just patronize you. Suggest buying NVidia.
- Other Thoughts: Updated 12/2:
Have now gone through four rounds with ATI support, without them giving any support. I've been directed to third party ( not ATI/AMD ) websites for solutions to problems I don't have.
Unreasonable to expect better performance from new (not three years old) product?
Original: Bought this card to replace a HTPC graphics card that ATI no longer supports under Windows 7:
Been running a Dell P-Duo as an HTPC for more than a few years, just fine, with an ATI X1300 graphics card.
Upgraded to Windows 7 for 7MC, and started having video source switching issues, fix required a new Video card.
ATI decides stop supporting an old product, fine. But the new product benchmarks (artifical or not) worse? Three years later?!? Ridiculous.
ATI/AMD has alienated yet another customer.
Fits HP slimline but
- Pros: Fits slimline computers
Looks nice No noise HDMI 1080p Works for windows 7 64bit right out of the box everything included to make it fit and stay put
- Cons: had to remove the phone cable chip to fit this in
mail in rebate and not automatic online savings
- Other Thoughts: i really didnt mind taking the phone line out since i use broadband. plus who uses dial up anymore, thats so obsolete. i didnt give 5 eggs because i haven't got a chance to test the card out on some good games so i do not know how it will perform.
Good quality
- Pros: Worked as it should right out the box.
- Cons: None, really.
- Other Thoughts: Using it to drive a dual, mirrored display using VGA to a 40" LCD TV and DVI to a 21" monitor, both at 1920x1080. Card works fine. Fanless, so one less moving part.
