Stay away from this card!
- Pros: There is nothing good about it if it doesn't work.
- Cons: Tried to install this card. Spent 2 whole days on it.
Things I experienced: - Windows stuck during boot up - Code 43 - Window doesn't recognize device - BSOD - Installation of driver fail 2 whole days wasted without success.
- Other Thoughts: I tried every hotfix, asus driver, ati driver, and every recommendation suggested here by other customers. Simply not worth the money although it is cheap.
I am returning it. Stay away from ATI video cards!
Amazingly difficult to install and I got lucky
- Pros: Bottom line is I got it to work. That was, after 1 full day sitting in front of my computer to try out different combination, within Windows Vista and BIOS, to get this working. Is it worth it? I don't know. I could have paid 10-20 bucks more for a non-ATI based card and would have spent my Sunday somewhere else instead.
- Cons: Ridiculously difficult to install driver for this card. ASUS/ATI must have not tested this properly before release. Some customers reviewed no problem when installing, they must be ultra lucky. I had to turn of both on-board video and audio, had Vista installed and updated it with the latest downloads, and run that CD that came with the card to get it working. It worked fine in XP, definitely not in Vista.
**** DO NOT USE DRIVER FROM ATI **** They just don't work. It doesn't matter what you download from them... drivers... agp hotfix.
I got BSOD, system freeze, code 43... anything you can think of. I was almost going to return this card to neweeg.com and pay for restocking.
- Other Thoughts: If something goes wrong, go into safe mode, uninstall any ATI software related to the video card, take out the video card driver from device manager, and try again!
Good luck!
AGP !??
- Pros: It is shiny, and new.
- Cons: I find it interesting that this described as an AGP slot card. Well, since it is'nt. Perhaps I have lost my mind however... except that I have'nt.
Also, the molex power connector is kinda unexpected... as someone else pointed out.
- Other Thoughts: $50 to the individual who can get this card into my Asus board's AGP slot without a hacksaw to create the correct notch!
