Very Fast if you Buy 2!
- Pros: Crossfire is ridiculous on these cards. I made the mistake of buying only one at a time. One is sufficient if you are replacing an older card but consider buying 2 if you want to spank a $300 GTX 280! Power consumption is low due to the new 40nm gpu process.
- Cons: It was difficult but I had to knock a star for the price this long in its life cycle. The 4850, which I own and is faster, is $99! Also, one can find a 4870 for $129! It is slower than my 4850 on its own but more than makes up for it in Crossfire (2 cards linked on the motherboard).
- Other Thoughts: For a single card, consider a 4850 or 4870 at these excellent prices. If you want the performance of a GTX 285 or better for $210, get two of these cards!
can run far cry 2 now
- Pros: This card is way better than the old 1950 pro it replaced, at the same power requirement. Installed in old gateway with E6300 conroe that wouldn't even load farcry before. Due to system bottleneck this card is pretty much stuck at 840 core and 950 memory overclock but it does run on the old 350 watt power supply. Goes into slow motion (but doesn't lock up)when a lot of people are shooting at you, but that is again the 1.86 Conroe on the Love Valley P motherboard with 2 gigs of ddr2 4200 and I am running 1920x1080 to a 24" Viewsonic 2ms monitor. Games that did run before are 100% better.
- Cons: Doesn't make my lame computer run faster... Makes you realize how out of date the rest of your components are.... The asus oc'ing utility is about as helpful as ati overdrive, stick with Riva-tuner. Fully supported drivers now!!!! (never use the cd drivers that come with anything except for initial install on motherboards at most!, as these things are mass produced then sit in warehouses for who knows how long, stop deducting eggs for it....)
- Other Thoughts: If you are upgrading or replacing bad video card in an older pc with a low watt p/s then this is a buy now. Upgrading slowly and will have a second one for CFx once I get all the components together.
Worked for a day.
- Pros: When it worked it ran WoW at max settings. That was all I was able to test.
- Cons: Day after I received the card my PC would boot, but no signal reached my 22'' LCD monitor. I tried everything to no avail. The card was dead. I Finally RMA'd it back to Newegg on my own dime. The 4770 was out of stock so I couldn't get a replacement. Instead I received a refund. I have sense purchased a comparable Nvidia card which worked without a hitch.
- Other Thoughts: I was really excited to own this card, but its quick death and lack of stock caused me to get something else.
