5 out of 5 eggsAsus HD 5970

Pros: Not much to say except that it is an excellent card. I use an old CRT monitor with a resolution of 1600x1200 and everything is maxed out and looks beautiful. Breezes through Modern Warfare 2 with FPS in the 200's. BFBC2 runs at an 130FPS average with everything maxed out. Haven't tried Crysis, but I am sure this thing would absolutely destroy that too.

Temps are pretty decent also, usually around 58 Celsius idle and 68 at full load.

I haven't had a chance to overclock this beast, but I will do that once I get an Accelero Xtreme.

Cons: Fan is a sort of loud, but once my case fans are up and running, I can't hear it at all.

Card is huge, barely fit into my Antec 1200 case, but you should've known that before buying it :)

Other Thoughts: The rig I put this card in is my first gaming rig ever. I was using a Dell XPS 410 for about 4 years before I got this. The Dell gave me a lot of problems, had only 1GB of ram and the HDD would crash at random times, causing me to reboot my whole system. I put a 8800GTS in it, but the E6300 processor severely bottlenecked the GPU. I haven't had the chance to play any game that was released 2006 or afterwards at max settings. Some games wouldn't even work because I only had 1GB of ram. It feels so good to play every game at max settings.

Anyways, GET THIS CARD, IT WILL DESTROY ANY GAME YOU THROW AT IT!

5 out of 5 eggsBAD AXE

Pros: bought 2 of these to replace 3 5850's, these will eat any and every game out there on max settings

Cons: very loud fans,

Other Thoughts: these are about a inch 1/2 longer than other 500 series gpu's make sure you have the space, I have a siverstone fortress, had to take out the middle fan bracket so the cards would fit. If you get 2 do not put them side by side they get hot faster space em out.

5 out of 5 eggsThird times a charm

Pros: FAST. This card will make your pants tight. No complaints at any resolution or video settings.

Currently running Catalyst 10.5 (drivers only) and MSI Afterburner for cooling control. Card Idles at 39c in a HAF 922, 51c at load.

Cons: Default settings in Catalyst Control Suite didn't cool the card as efficiently as I would have liked. No loss of eggs though - switched over to the MSI Afterburner and you can finangle it however you like. Lots of functionality to be had.

Other Thoughts: I am on the third 5970 card currently. The first was an open box item that looked as though it'd been run over with a fork truck when it arrived. It displayed some of the 2D artifacting that I attributed to the card having been mangled.

I returned the open box and bought a new one that also exhibited the 2D artifacting as well as the TDR "Driver is not responding" issues that have been noted on the ATI forums. The 10.5 CCC release notes list it as a known issue.

After about 3 weeks of troubleshooting the card (swapping KG systems, various driver versions, clean install, 2D core overclocks, you name it) I opted for the RMA - Replacement.

Last one is working beautifully and does everything I throw at it. I am using a Cooler Master UCP RS700 watt PSU and I haven't ran into any power issues where the card is concerned.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!!

Pros: Blazing speed!!

Cons: Huge and expensive. Motherboard choked on it.

Other Thoughts: If you pair it with a MSI 890FXA-GD70 motherboard, you will not be able to install windows until you update the motherboard bios. I had to install windows using an old video card then use live update before the motherboard would play nice with this beautiful card.

5 out of 5 eggsIf you can afford it... get it!

Pros: This card is simply amazing. I went from a SLI setup with 2 8800 Ultra Superclocked cards to this one card by itself. Without changing anything else in my system, I went from 40 fps on medium settings in most games to 80+ fps on all high settings with AA turned up.

It's also more efficient at idle than my original setup. Went from 370 watts idle, 470 gaming to 270 idle, but 570-600 while gaming. Looks like it's intelligent enough to reduce the core clock and even turn off a core when not needed.

Buying this card first saved me from spending the money to upgrade my motherboard, CPU, and RAM.

This card would be especially good on larger monitors since as resolution increases, the graphics card becomes more of the bottleneck.

This card also installed seamlessly into my 780i motherboard, wasn't sure if they'd play nicely considering different brands but they did.

Cons: Seems to have some bugs in the drivers with my Windows 7 x64 machine. I get driver resets every now and a again and I'm using the latest 10.4 drivers.

And of course the price is a Con... need some serious money for this.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you check the measurements before you buy. This card will not fit in any case.

5 out of 5 eggsAsus 5970

Pros: I just switched from a GTX 280 Tri Sli setup. For one I've been using Nvidia since the Riva TNT the only time other than now I've used ATI was the 9700pro til the 9800xt. This product is awesome... I love to be able to turn my graphics settings on MAX plus some. I can tell you that Nvidia previous generation (not Fermi) can't compare. The Anisotropic filtering and SuperSampling AA is awesome... If you are worried about switching to ATI from Nvidia because you like all the hidden modes with third party software like Nhancer don't be because non of those modes compare to the Image quality you'll get here.

Cons: I didn't recieve the cd case and I contacted Newegg about this but nothing happened.. I feel like they should follow up with me but nope.

Other Thoughts: Awesome card, lots of power and it doesn't heat up your room! That's one thing I am glad to be freed from.

5 out of 5 eggsSummary!

Pros: This card it's a Monster!... The Asus EAH5970 is without a doubt the fastest GPU available. It brings smoking graphics to all your games and there's not a game it can't handle (Take that Crysis). With the inclusion of the Voltage Tweak utility we managed a smoking 980MHz and there's room for more if your truely insane. DirectX 11 is looking good and the EAH5970 does great with DX11 games, the graphics on DX11 are amazing. We tried out a little Eyefinity multi-monitor setup and it worked flawlessly. We expected good things from the Asus EAH5970 but we didn't expect it to blow our minds.

Cons: None so far!

5 out of 5 eggsUpgraded fron Nvidia 9800GX2 to the Radeon 5970 HD and love it.

Pros: I finally got my hands on one of these Awesome cards, installation was flawless (used latest 10.2 drivers direct from ATI's site) and the card build quality is very high, looks and feels very rugged, I have had no issues whatsoever as yet as far as reliability from crashing/freezing my system(the Catalyst 10.2 drivers have resolved most of the problems other people were having with these ATI cards) and well what can I say about performance, this card is every bit the monster everyone says it is, running all my games in 1920x1200 resolution on my 28" monitor and everything is running silky smooth, a vast improvement over my Nvidia 9800GX2. If you are lucky enough to be able to find one in stock, don't hesitate to purchase, you will not be dissapointed. Oh and the packaging is the best I have ever seen. And Dirt 2 bundled in for free, Awesome game.

Cons: hmmm hard to think of any, trying to give your spouse/GF a good reason to justify spending all that money LOL
