5 out of 5 eggs3+ Years

Pros: I've had this GPU for over 3 years now. I've never had any issues. This was a component for my first build back in 2010. I am just now replacing it to keep up with next-gen games. Still runs strong though and am sad to say goodbye. Ran like a champ.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsFailed after a year and a half

Pros: I really liked this card a lot when it worked.

Cons: Failed after a year and a half.

Other Thoughts: Would have expected more longevity from an ASUS product.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after about a year

Pros: It was a great card, but after I isolated that it was the cause of my system being very unstable, it's taken almost a month of working with ASUS to get it replaced. Asus sent a 465 as replacement, which is inferior to this card. So the saga continues

Cons: ASUS support, I've heard so many good things about it, but first hand experience has been slow and painful, and having them send me the wrong card is really frustrating.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS repair facility leaves much to be desired

Pros: Decently priced for a standard GTX 470 at the time I purchased. I purchased two of these to run Folding@home and other GPU compute applications with, and the performance is excellent.

Cons: While one of the two cards has been reliable, the other card has not - it has been responsible for many "The video scheduler has encountered an unexpected fatal error" blue screens, produces artifacts in games, and errors in the OCCT GPU test.

I have sent this back to ASUS twice now, and am dissatisfied with their repair service. The first RMA number took 4 days to be issued. The card returned almost as bad as it originated - more blue screens and errors in the OCCT test, none of which were symptoms when the second card was inserted in place of the first.

So I called for RMA this time in an attempt to get an advance RMA, but this was refused. At least I got my RMA number the next day! The card came back last week, and is producing errors again!

I am not sure what I am going to do next about this. I just need ASUS to swap out the bloody card for a different one. My Newegg RMA period has expired and I am tired of ASUS sending my back the same card and not repairing it!

Other Thoughts: This was an unexpected experience with ASUS. I have used their boards is many machines to my great satisfaction and have been recommending their parts for friends' builds in my college's gaming club, where several people each semester build high-end machines to take to our LAN parties.

I am not sure I can recommend ASUS's video cards at this point. While I understand that failures are going to happen at times in products this complex, I am very frustrated that ASUS still has not returned me a reliable card after two separate RMAs, the latter of which I enclosed a note stating my experience with the previous one and asking that the card be tested very thoroughly before being returned. For what I paid in return shipping I could have bought the EVGA competition!

For now I would recommend looking to EVGA for NVIDIA video cards - I have seen a very low failure rate with these in our club. Some other brands may be OK as well but I do not have enough experience to make other recommendat

3 out of 5 eggsGood card, but runs HOT and resizing resolution

Pros: Great and fast video card, works very well whit CS5.
However runs hot on factory cooler. I had to buy Zalman for it and it keeps temp and noize down.

Cons: Dont know what is the cause of it but this card started to resizing the screen resolution to 1440x900 for dual monitor setup. The default screen resolution is 1680x1050. So disabling dual monitor from nvidea control panel and re-enabling thru windows desktop setting solves this issue until next restart.
This card is running on Asus Rampage 3 formula, w/ 12gb of Ram and i7 950 CPU

Other Thoughts: newegg - I would like to know where does the first review went? this is the second time Im posting it.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Card but runs little hot

Pros: Great and powerful cad. Adobe CS5 runs on it like a camp, I like it. I did not use any overclocking, just watever default works great.
for other see below

Cons: However it runs little to hot on factory cooler, I had to buy a Zalman VF300 cooler for it, and it helped a lot to keep temp down.
Also it started having a problem with the resolution every time I restart PC on dual monitor setup video card changing screen resolution to 1440x900 form 1680x1050. I have tried installing different driver versions and it still does the same thing resizing to 1440x900. However for some strange reason it does not resize monitor resolution on single monitor setup. What could cause the problem. Running Vista 64bit on Asus Rampage 3 Formuma, i7 950 cpu, 12gb of Ram

4 out of 5 eggsRebate problems

Pros: Good reference quality card, nice performance even though OC ability was lower than has been reported on other GTX 470s.

Cons: My main problem is not with the product itself, it is that I never got the rebate on the card. Rebate was submitted with all of the correct materials clearly written and on time. I even did the express rebate process and still never got anything. The rebate issues on Newegg have gotten so bad that from now on I am no longer even factoring rebates into the pricing when price comparing to other stores. I just have to assume I'll never get them. You're actually worse off by submitting the rebate since you lose the UPC and returns become a pain, not to mention the time and stamp spent submitting it.

Other Thoughts: Nice card, but the rebate issues have soured me on Asus. I'll steer clear of them for awhile for this reason and a hw problem with the last Asus mb I bought. Also, if it's a 3rd party company processing the rebate Asus, it's still your responsibility to make sure they are being processed. Passing the blame to the rebate processor, which seems to be very common practice, is no longer acceptable.

5 out of 5 eggsPicked up for SLI

Pros: Clean reference design, doesn't cut corners. Works with MSI's Afterburner software including voltage settings and fan adjustments. Great perfomance in SLI.

Cons: Comes with half-baked software package. Just download MSI's Afterburner and forget the Smartdoctor, GamerOSD and Splendid.
