5 out of 5 eggsTop of the line in the 400 series

Pros: This is the top of the line card in NVIDIA's 400 series. That means it is extremely fast and will continue to get driver updates for a long, long time. This card can handle games with full antialiasing at HD resolutions in Windows, and can handle windowed games with antialiasing pretty well in Linux (even under Wine). If you are simply looking for a powerful beast, there is no other.

Cons: This card is hot. I cannot stress this enough, the Fermi series runs extremely hot. Even with good cooling in your case, expect to see 80C+ and over 100C+ without good cooling (see other thoughts on how to mitigate this). It is also kind of heavy, make sure that you screw it in good and always be careful when removing it. Also be warned that it is massive, and some cases will not fit it due to the drive bays getting in the way.

Other Thoughts: If you're worried about this card running hot, take the same steps that I took in order to minimize the heat. First, buy a dual-slot motherboard (with 2 PCI-E x16 slots) and place the card in the bottommost slot as far away from your CPU as possible. This will also allow you to give it a direct airflow from the front intake fan, which should have as high of a CFM as possible. Secondly, buy a PCI slot cooler, pull of the mounting bracket and turn it upside down. This makes the PCI slot cooler draw air up into it, rather than down into it. You can then place it in the slot above the video card and it will pull tons of heat off the back of the main GPU area. I have this set up and both the GPU's exhaust vent (below the DVI ports), and the PCI slot cooler's exhaust vent (above the DVI ports) blow out very hot air. If you have a side window with a mountable fan, turn the glass upside down (if possible) and mount the fan as an exhaust over the video card, rather than as a CPU intake fan.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome, but still not the best

Pros: Runs MOST games on full settings, very reliable, nice packaging by ASUS. Overclocks really well. Not as huge and heavy as I thought it would be. It was actually the same size, but lighter than my gtx 280. Supports DX 11 and tessalation.

Cons: These are mostly minor complaintsSTILL can't run Crysis maxed out. I upgraded from a gtx 280, and I was hoping to see a bigger difference than I did. The card gets pretty hot, and when overclocked get ridiculously hot. It would literally raise my room temp by 10 degrees. The price for one of these now is too much. It's only $50 cheaper than it was when I bought my first one 6 months ago. I think they should be around $300 at this point. I bought another one for SLI, but newegg is the cheapest place to get a brand new one. The design is a little flimsy with the plastic on the sides.

Other Thoughts: I can run Metro 2033 at full settings at 1920x1200 with an average of 28 fps. All the reviews said that they could run ANY games maxed out at 1920x1200 including crysis, but not in my case, and that's with it being considerably overclocked. I have an i7 @ 4 ghz and 12 gigs of ram, so I know it can't be my machine. I just ordered another one for SLI, so by the time Battlefield 3, Skyrim, and Mass Effect 3 come out, I should be ready. But overall, it's a good GPU and should satisfy most gamers needs

5 out of 5 eggsWorth Buying

Pros: +Does the job! Full graphics at 1900x1080p at 60fps+
+No SLI studders, way smoother than my GTX280SLI setup.
+Runs all my games smooth, faster than the monitor refresh rate at half the price of a 580.
+Runs cool with EVGA Precision tool re-mapped fan settings, 62'c while playing Bad Company 2
+Renders SUPER FAST!! Any APP using the GPU with get eaten by this beast!
+Overclocks to 800mhz like a champ

Cons: -Old tech compared to the 110's (but within 5% framerate in-game)
- reputation for running hot, only your broke friends will envy you. The truth is it only seems to warm up while benchmarking. The stock BIOS fan setting are set too quiet. Crank the fan speed up, and game with headphones on. Cured.
- Lower benchmark scores compared to my old GTX280SLI setup. 2x card were faster most of the time, and SLI always ran faster in 3dMark.
- Makes me crave another one for SLI. 3dMark 2011 is sluggish.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of buying at GTX 560, 570, or 580? Buy this instead. $350 is a fair price for these, I found mine on the Bay for the price of a 460. This has Full 1.5gb memory perfect on 1900x1080p monitors on up. Wasn't a jump up like I wanted from GTX280, but nice jump from 2x9800GTX. Those got 35fps in BF.BC2 and this gets 75fps with a AMD1090t/4ghz. With any CPU lower than an AMD 720/3.6ghz the GPU will be waiting for the CPU. Might as well go for a GTX460 and save some cash.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Have run games for years with a 5870 at low settings. Now I can max everything out and truly appreciate games the way they were meant to be played. Yes, it's expensive, but to me, it's worth it.

i7 Sandy Bridge 2600k (OC 4.2ghz)
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212
MSI P67A-GD65
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 7-7-7-21
ASUS ENGTX480/2DI/1536MD5 GeForce GTX 480
Rosewill BRONZE Series 1000W PSU
Rosewill DESTROYER Black ATX

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Bought a SLI ready MOBO and PSU with the intentions of buying another one of these cards when the price eventually drops.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!

5 out of 5 eggsOne word... WoW!

Pros: Lots of video memory, fast with fantastic graphics.

Cons: Had some issues with game play lag in World of Warcraft, but once I disabled Anisotropic and Antistropic filtering, everything was smooth and was able to run at the ultra settings with no noticeable lag at all.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat machines

Pros: I did a full rebuild back in August and have since then been preoccupied to write a review. This card is great, two is phenomenal. Crysis is like grass to a lawnmower. Cuts it, cuts it again and spits it out. Steady frames of 40+ while recording with fraps. Scores an average of 30-40 FPS in the Heaven 2.0 Benchmark with everything capped and tessellation on high.

Two of these together next to each other on a mobo isn't a wise option. I use these in a Rampage III Extreme and the board was built to use slots 1 and 3 at 16x for this reason alone. With them having a slot in between, the cooling is better and there is actually a few FPS increase in performance.

Hottest I've taken the card was 105c when running furry to check for artifacts. I had the fan speed locked at 55% and that was the only reason why. Re ran the bench and didn't go over 92c which is the norm for this card

Cons: Only con is it throws out high temps and this caused me to use the redirect box with the ATCS840 so the H50 wouldn't suck it back in to kill the CPU.

Other Thoughts: i7 930 @ 3.5
Rampage III Extreme
12GB Dominator GT @ 1600 7-7-7-21
2x ASUS GTX480
Silverstone 1000w
ATCS840
Vertex 2 120GB SSD
WD 1TB CB SATA 6.0GB/s

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Video Card

Pros: This video card has completely ripped through every game I've thrown at it.

(All settings include online play as well as single player)

Crysis (and expansions) - maxed settings. ~40-60 FPS
Aion - maxed settings. ~50-70 FPS
Medal of Honor - maxed settings. ~50-70 FPS
Starcraft 2 - maxed settings. ~60-80 FPS
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - maxed settings. ~40-60 FPS

All games are played at 1980 x 1080 (P). Through an HDMI connector to a HDTV.

These were done without optimizations or any configurations. This was just after being assembled and a fresh install of Windows 7.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Custom Rig:
CPU - i7 950 3.06Ghz
RAM - Corsair 12 Gb PC3 10666
GPU - ASUS 1.5Gb GeForce GTX 480
MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-X58 LGA 1366
OS - Win7
Power - 1k Watt Thermal

5 out of 5 eggsB@D@$$

Pros: Ridiculous

runs crysis and jc2 simultaneously~ so yeah can pretty much handle anything easily

2 Sli unbeatable

Nvidia - how games are meant to be played

Cons: ALT TAB between programs seems sluggish and using SSD so?

Instruction Manual - LMFAO, mise well include a religious pamphlet - an embarrasment to ASUS should dock an egg

Other Thoughts: Not seeing concern for heat

Cant really rate - there wont be games for years that will bottleneck it

Some gps get more fps on some games this comes out on others.

3 out of 5 eggsnew model ALREADY?

Pros: Overall great card if proceed high. Does excellent wit my videos blue rays and I tunes movies.

Cons: All features of asks smart doctor will not work. Read up on this card over two reviews in maximum pc wick made my decicsion to purchase card and now two months after buying they announce thee new model coming out for cheaper than I paid for mine with all cues cores enabled. Ittakes me back to the xbox. 360 launce when all the bugs weren't worked out nor was maximum potential available. Wish I handnt bought it now as I can't even use it to enhance cpu performance.

Other Thoughts: Good card not worth price if you can't access all the features.
