Designed with unparalleled levels of price/performance, NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 is the perfect GPU for LAN party pwning. With more than 2x the DirectX 11 geometry processing power over competing GPUs, GeForce GTS 450 dominates the competition and offers amazing game realism on the latest DirectX 11 titles like Civilization V. Equipped with the latest industry leading technologies including NVIDIA 3D Vision, NVIDIA PhysX, high performance NVIDIA GeForce drivers, and more, GeForce GTS 450 has everything you need to spoil your senses.

  • newegg ASUS DirectCU Thermal Technology DirectCU thermal solution deploys precision mounted twin DirectCU 8mm copper heatpipes in direct contact with the GPU, achieving 20% cooler during game play and 35% quieter under idle mode - barely audible, even in a quiet room.
  • newegg ASUS Voltage Tweak Technology This technology allows the Asus ENGTS450 DIRECTCU Series to overclock to the GPUs limits, potentially near 1GHz. More impressive and more convenient, the bundled Asus Smart Doctor utility alters the GPU voltage without the need for adjusting BIOS settings, or even rebooting the PC. Gamers can achieve higher frame rates on-demand and without interrupting the on-screen action.
  • newegg Armament Materials and 4-phase Power Asus’s ENGTS450 DirectCU Series levels up overclocking stability with the unique POSCAP (Capacitor) to reduce power noise. In addition a more advanced 4-phase power (compared to reference 3-phase) is used to provide higher current flow and more stable voltage during tweaking.
  • newegg Superior Protection The exclusive PCB stiffener and GPU Guard provide extra strong hold to enhance shockproof performance and prevent bending and cracking. Plus, the Fuse Protection and EMI shield deliver risk-free graphics performance.
  • newegg ASUS Splendid Asus New Splendid Video Intelligence Technology can amazingly reduce over 30% in CPU loading. Therefore, full HD images enabled by ASUS’ graphics cards can be fine-tuned to deliver vibrant visual representations in conditions most favorable to the human eye. With the New Splendid, watching movies on the PC is as good as watching them on top-of-the-line HDTVs.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 11 Support The new DirectX 11 GPU with full Shader Model 5.0, DirectCompute 11 and tessellation support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for about 6 months no problems.

Pros: 925Mhz core w/ 1GB DDR5 VRam for around $100.

Cons: Asus Tech support is impossible to deal with, how can I talk to someone about my issues when I can't understand them and they don't understand what I'm trying to tell them? 128-bit memory bus. Drops the video driver randomly while under load. Cannot update the VBIOS with update file from Asus website. TOP edition looked solid and nice for price but doubt I'll ever go with Asus again due to absolute lack of professional grade help/tech support.

Other Thoughts: Was thinking of getting another ENGTS450 TOP edition to SLi but now I'm reconsidering. The GTX 550 TI TOP edition looks pretty mean too @ 975MHz and 192-bit memory bus for the same of what I paid for the 450 Top. If Asus really wanted to please this customer they'd RMA the 450 GTS Top edition that's seemingly been discontinued after about 6 months of production (can't find them ANYWHERE anymore) and give me the GTX 550 TI being similar in specs and price. THEN I might go back to Asus to buy another one and SLi them.

4 out of 5 eggsFine except when driver quits working

Pros: Nice graphics, easy install, not too big.

Cons: Not infrequently the graphics driver quits working, screen goes black, and it comes back in about 4 seconds. Error message that the display driver quit working.

2 out of 5 eggsAsus ENGTS450

Pros: ran great for about one month.

Cons: after having for about a month it over heated on me while playing a graphic intense game and would freeze up.
got a replacement and it also runs hot. so i tweeked with the fan and monitored the temperture. while in game it jumps up to 60'c + and causes the fan to run faster.

1 out of 5 eggsDamaged

Pros: It seemed like it worked okay. The pipes kinda looked cheap.

Cons: The pipes kinda looked cheap. The one I got was flawed/ damaged. I got lockups in games and 3D software but I wasn't sure what was causing it. I suspected the graphics card but I had to return the RAM cause it was flawed and I figured that it was extremely unlikely that somthing else from the new build would be damaged too. I tried all kinds of things and then gave up and took it to a computer repair shop to get the problem diagnosed. Turned out that it WAS a bad video card but by the time I found out it was too late to RMA. I bought a EVGA card to replace it. I used to like ASUS but I think I'm done with them.

Other Thoughts: I admit that I am not an IT pro but this was also NOT my first build.

1 out of 5 eggsWOW Buy A Different Card

Pros: If you consider not being able to play your game a PRO then buy this card. I had two of them in x16 SLi and my 2 9600gt's perform better! These cards THROTTLE DOWN every 5-10 sec EVEN IN GAME! This was due to the corrupt software that comes with these cards, and it is also built into the bios of these cards to perform this way. Totally UNUSABLE except for typical desktop scenarios. Asus, why are your tech support reps lying to us?

Cons: The first tech support from Asus lied to me and said these cards don't do that, even thought I read that specifically from an Asus source! The level 3 tech support admitted these cards throttle down their Core & Memory when not under extreme gaming conditions. Well Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are pretty intense and like, I put my 2 x 9600gt's back in and I can max everything on those! Asus, why are your tech support reps lying to us?

Other Thoughts: My power supply is 650W continuous with 3x12v rails, I'm pretty sure there is enough power there, I know how to uninstall and reinstall drivers and I worked on it for about 2 weeks before I decided that was long enough for me to be down and not being able to play
Had to RMA these peices of garbage, and Newegg would not post my first comment for somre reason, these Cards are so garbage I came back to write another review and hope it gets posted this time so noone else wastes $350 on 2 of these. Asus, why are your tech support reps lying to us?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issues you are experiencing with this graphics card. The card should not be throttling it's core or memory frequency when under load. Did you try uninstalling the Smart Doctor software and see if the issue still occurs or not? I've created case number 1199872 for you regarding this issue. Please contact us at 812-282-2787 so that we may get more details about your system configuration and assist you in resolving these issues.

Sincerely,

ASUS Support Team

5 out of 5 eggsBANG FOR BUCK!

Pros: I used to be an avid gamer and work mostly with intensive graphics anyway. I upgraged to this from a 9600GT & LOVE THIS CARD. GREAT PURCHASE! Especially through Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsDecent bang for the buck

Pros: Decent frame rates in titles like Civ 5, Sims 3, etc.
Large, but doesn't hog TOO much space
Stays cool despite being OC'ed
EASY software OC'ing
Not terribly spendy
Has most of the features of the GTX series, but not as much price tag

Cons: Kinda wish I had gone with the GTX
Makes me realize how much my older system needs an upgrade (in the mail from Newegg :))
May be a bit large for micro ATX boards/cases
Umm, it didn't create world peace?

Other Thoughts: For what you pay for it, this is a great video card. I'll try to do a better write-up after I get my new system, as my current rig is low on power and HDD space. Otherwise, the graphics are a bit better than my old GPU, but I can tell the slower motherboard and RAM on my rig are definitely holding it back.

5 out of 5 eggsFast Card

Pros: Fast & economical. I have a stable overclock 10% above the factory overclock and it runs cool and quiet.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Fits in a mid tower case, even when it backs up to the hard drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Card runs very cool and comes from the factory with a very nice overclock. It can be overclocked even higher. I will be buying 2 more of these.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I use this card for the Folding@Home project and at its factory settings it was giving me 9300 ppd. Using MSI afterburner I was able to overclock the card a bit higher. I got it to 987/1974/2032 and 9700 ppd. If I added more voltage, I might have been able to go higher.
