The ASUS GTX550 Ti DirectCU TOP edition offers superior DirectX 11 performance in its class and solid tessellation performance by providing the graphics horsepower and video bandwidth needed to experience games in high resolution. At the heart are 192 CUDA cores, 192-bit 1GB GDDR5 graphics memory along with a refined design offering substantial increase in performance while running cooler and quieter than previous generation GTS 450 GPU.

Top-selected and factory overclocked to 975MHz, the ASUS GTX550 Ti DirectCU TOP edition ensures you an even better out of the box gaming experience. Award-winning DirectCU cooling design has all-copper heatpipes touch the GPU core directly to improve heat transference, delivering up to 20% cooler operation than reference designs under full load. Coupled with ASUS Super Alloy Power VRM delivery technology used in chokes, capacitors, and MOSFETs, the ASUS GTX550 Ti DirectCU TOP edition graphics card performs better, runs more stable and cooler, and lasts longer! Rounding out the experience is support for NVIDIA 3D Vision, NVIDIA Surround, PhysX and SLI technologies for an eye-popping, immersive 3D performance in games and movies.

  • newegg DirectCU Precision mounted DirectCU copper heatpipes are in direct contact with the GPU for rapid heat dissipation. The result is 20% cooler under full load and quieter in idle.
  • newegg Super Alloy Power Super Alloy Power technology uses special alloy formula in critical power delivery components like chokes, capacitors, POSCAPs and MOSFETs for a 15% performance boost, 35°C cooler operation and 2.5 times longer lifespan when compared to reference designs.
  • newegg Voltage Tweak Exclusive ASUS Voltage Tweak technology makes it easy for you to increase voltages to the GPU core, video memory and board to raise card speeds by up to 50% faster - a major advantage much sought after by hardcore gamers.
  • newegg Microsoft DirectX 11 Support DirectX 11 GPU with Shader Model 5.0 support designed for ultra high performance in the new API’s key graphics feature, GPU-accelerated tessellation.
  • newegg NVIDIA PhysX Technology Full support for NVIDIA PhysX technology enables a totally new class of physical gaming interaction for a more dynamic and realistic experience with GeForce.
  • newegg NVIDIA 3D Vision, 3D Vision Surround & 2-Way SLI Ready NVIDIA 3D Vision brings a fully immersive stereoscopic 3D experience to the PC. Expand your games across three displays in full stereoscopic 3D for the ultimate “inside the game” experience with the power of NVIDIA 3D Vision and SLI technologies. NVIDIA Surround also supports triple screen gaming with non-stereo displays.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Great card, runs most of the games on ultra settings without lags, overall im satisfied

Cons: Only one, now it doesn`t happen anymore but in the first week of when i got the card, some of my games were lagging ( no its not because of the cards performance, the games were Orcs must Die 2 and Mount and Blade ) though this problem is fixed by rebooting my pc. And its not because of the drivers, they were installed on day 1 of my installation

5 out of 5 eggssweet card

Pros: This card is pretty boss. I am a sworn nvidia customer till the day i die (or grown up). I play l4d, fallout 3 and new vegas most of the time and this card blows through without a single hiccup.

Cons: Make sure you read the dimensions so it can fit your case.

Other Thoughts: I barely hear the fan. The motherboard i use reads 40-42C degrees during normal gaming operations which is nominal averave for my rig so it stays cools. Heat pipes look cool. Drivers are included on a cd. About these rebates....people seem to have problems cashing and sending them in. YOU NEED TO READ THE INSTRUCTION TO THE VERY LAST DETAIL. If it tells you to cut the address out and tape it to the envelope, then do it. Trust me thats gotta be 99% of the problem because somebody didnt read the instructions all the way. They dont send checks either, then send a debit card. Good card though i love it

5 out of 5 eggsHappy Son

Pros: My son eMailed me to thank me for the GTX550 TI (TOP) and wrote "I just played crysis 2 at full tilt, no problem, like a movie & detail I've never seen before!!! All on the big S***** LED TV ;))", EOQ(uote.) He has a very new Zambezi on the late Asus Mobo & all parts bought from Newegg.

Cons: Price increased $10 over past couple of months, not considering any mail in rebates now being offered.

Other Thoughts: This is above nice mid-range card for PCI Express version 2.0 mobos. This Asus card certainly is a smart upgrade from the old and still reliable 8400 GS. Gonna buy another one in a few minutes for my old Callisto mobo...

4 out of 5 eggsSmokin fast!

Pros: Fast card! Silent fan cooling. HDMI 1.4 3d support. Handles everything in an HTPC enviroment witout issue!

Cons: Dual power jack sits on top of card and requires extra clearance, as do the 2 copper heat pipes. Adds about 1 inch more clearance.

Other Thoughts: Love this card. Great price point. I use this in my HTPC and is used only for music and movie playback. But my movies are all full rips of Blu Rays, DVD's, and 3D. This card plays them all back perfectly. No studdering, no skipping, no lock ups. The color is insanely beautiful, fills up my 1920x1080p LED LCD tv perfectly with no over/under scan adjustment. This is a great card that really is overkill for an HTPC enviroment, but since the price is so low and the card is HDMI 1.4/3d capable then why not? I love this thing. Also, the fan is very quiet. I can't hear it at all. But the only problem that I encountered was the size. Man, this thing is friggin huge! It would not fit in my first Antec HTPC case because the power plug and 2 heat pipes extended up above the card an inch and the top of the case would not fit. I bought a Silverstone case with more room and now it has a new home. But be warned: this card is not for any slim style or low profile case. Give it room. Great card!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card for the Price

Pros: It runs Skyrim on High presets on my 1600x 900 monitor and I get a solid 60 FPS with no hiccups or stutters.

Cons: I have run in to no Cons so far. I fear, though, that when I have a 1080p monitor it may not be so satisfactory.

Other Thoughts: I recommend this card if you want high performance on a tight budget.
I'll soon buy another for SLI, when the rest of my system is complete.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Full HDMI plug.

Cons: Stays quite warm with a push/pull setup. Old MSI gts450 runs circles around this card. It is choppy, runs hot (45c at idle), and doesn't seem to run Diablo 3, or Skyrim that great. Drivers are rubbish out of the box.

Other Thoughts: Will most likely be RMA'ing this card.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Elduderino,

I am sorry you are not seeing optimal performances from your GTX 550. Please make sure that you have a utility to manage your fan speed to keep your card cool. You can contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-1682) if you have any questions.

Regards,
Jeremy
