3 out of 5 eggsNot for gaming, otherwise works well

Pros: Durable (See other thoughts)

Cons: Heats up quickly
Unable to run most of today's games you might want to play

Other Thoughts: The reason I say it's durable is because this thing has over heated too many times to count and still runs like the day I got it.

running Left 4 Dead 2 on 1080p for 30 minutes causes my card to reach 82 degrees Celsius (my computer shuts down at 90). Playing Insurgency on 1080p for over an hour may cause my computer to shut down due to the GPU over heating.

In conclusion if you're a gamer on a budget, be prepared to spend a bit more on a graphics card. I'd recommend this card for a business or family computer.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Bailey,

I am sorry that your video card heats up too quickly and has trouble running most of today's games. This card is definitely a budget card and will have problems running modern games. If you need any further assistance, or have questions feel free to contact me at and I will help you to the best of my abilities.

Thanks for choosing ASUS

4 out of 5 eggs2012 Purchase - Updating Positive Review

Pros: I first bought this card in 2012 for my eldest son's PC and found it good enough to later buy two more (3 boys, 3 pc's). Here it is 2015 and although my two older boy's have upgraded PC's and cards, none of these ever failed. My youngest son's card is still going strong and plays fairly recent games at a decent resolution and framerate.

I am re-endorsing this model/brand card for quality and service.
Yes, sometimes electronics fail, but the 3 I bought worked very well.

Cons: It is difficult for me to find any fault with this card as all 3 have served us very well.

Other Thoughts: Would definitely buy again from this vendor.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked good until it broke.

Pros: The color matched my RAM modules

Cons: It broke right after the RMA service ended. Ended up having a technician friend fix it. Guess something was wrong with the DVI port. Pictures of it showed both the cooling element as a heatsink AND a heatsink/fan......the description failed to shed any more info on the cooling type. I received the heatsink.jimmy40

Other Thoughts: Price was good........good starter card.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Pros: I did get an ASUS motherboard that didn't come with any video interface, so I was worried, but then very happy to see that the card worked before I installed any drivers.

Just to be safe, I didn't use the CD, and instead opted for the latest drivers on the ASUS website. So far, so good. No crashes or black screens.

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Bear in mind that I am not using this thing for hardcore gaming or anything like that. I did play a little bit on Minecraft with all the setting the highest they would go (no texture pack or anything though), which is something I was not really able to do on my laptop.

I've only used the VGA so far. I will use the HDMI eventually maybe to watch Netflix or something.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Good looking
Decent performance
Lasted for over a year

Cons: That its not a 7990.

Other Thoughts: Great card. Only giving 4 eggs because it only plays low end games, (ie portal 2 at medium) and finally died after I played with overclocking, as I replaced it with a 7870.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: for the price it can't be beat. i just used native windows 7 drivers and didn't even bother with the driver cd. mine under load temp is 51 degrees, idle is 39 degrees. don't know what the guy meant that said the 50 degree temps he had was high.these cards can easily handle 70 and 80 degree temps.after all it is a passive cooled card.

Cons: none.

Pros: Great performance on Ubuntu
Great performance on Windows 7-8
Great performance on Windows XP
Great performance on Debian/Linux

Cons: Appears to have few flaws.

Other Thoughts: I placed this in a system that has removable HDD's
I have one internal drive with windows 7 that has been updated to windows 8. The removable bay in the system has 4 slide in HDD in housings. Each HDD has a different operating system on it. The first HDD has Ubuntu 12.04, the second has LinuxMCE, the third has Debian and the forth HDD has Windows XP. These 5 drives are selected in the bios which makes it a simple thing to change HDD's and set the boot disk in the bios and run that operating system. This allows me to check different aspects of the operating systems and attach numerous devices. For example, I have a DVD label printer that only runs on Win-XP so when I want to use it I simply slip in the XP drive and boot up and print labels on CD/DVD's. This also allows me to service customers devices that work with many different operating systems. I have 5 different systems at my disposal but this is the most unique. The video card I purchased must work with any system that I plug into it. It has performed extremely well with all the system I have currently in my lineup. Great video card for about any system and the low profile allowed me to build a very small form factor system in a 3.9 inch micro case. Great video card with lots of performance.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent, low priced card

Pros: When this card hit such a low price, I grabbed one for my son's pc. The low profile and passive cooling + low power requirements were the deciding factors. Having had zero problems, and a decent performance, I purchased another for my second son's PC and they've both run fine for nearly a year.

Cons: I agree with several posters here; do not use the drivers that come with the card, go straight to AMD and get the drivers for your OS and Bit 32 or 64.
Not exactly a negative mark (IMHO), because I've always done this with non-OEM vendor versions.

Other Thoughts: logging on to purchase a 3rd card (I have 3 sons and the youngest is ready for his first PC.

1 out of 5 eggsStopped working after 2 days

Pros: Cheap, silent.

Cons: This card worked great for 2 days and then it caused my computer to boot to a black screen.

Other Thoughts: I'd stay away if I were you...

4 out of 5 eggsIt works fine, but the rebate is a hassle.

Pros: Flawless installation for my 2 GHZ dual core HTPC and shows HD movies well.

Cons: Rebates

Other Thoughts: Rebates, you can click to buy and pay electronically but the rebates require much more work. Not worth it.
