4 out of 5 eggsGreat video card for a below average gamer

Pros: Great card for a person just starting to get into gaming

Cons: Obviously cannot run games like Battlefield or GTA

Other Thoughts: Had this thing for a year and only with minimal problems

3 out of 5 eggsLoose heatsink

Pros: Works okay. No fan noise.

Cons: The heatsink is attached to the video card in such a way that plugging the card into a PCIe slot (or pulling it out) causes the heatsink to move a little. It doesn't move enough to damage the board in any way but it does break the seal between the thermal compound and the graphics chip die. I haven't experienced any adverse affects but breaking this seal introduces the possibility of dust between the heatsink and die as well as reduce the heatsink's thermal dissipation capabilities.

5 out of 5 eggsExactly what I expected from ASUS

Pros: The card performs well and tolerates PCI-E overclocking well. If you're looking for a low cost card to free up RAM with decent performance, look no further.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Trusted brand, 64-bit, HDCP. Good enough to get out of a shared memory situation.

Cons: Should be about $25 including shipping. This does little to add performance to your system unless you are on a shared memory configuration.

Other Thoughts: This board is nothing to get excited over. It powers my 2 monitors fine and I trust the brand. I bought it open box at a discount and that is a fair price. The regular price is not (I'd spend $15 dollars more for a better chipset)

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Just Fine

Pros: All games I've tryed up to Skyrim have worked well on medium graphic settings. My newer computer works just as well on all of these games and has a 300 dollar video card in it. If you looking for a good budget gaming computer I'd recommend this card.

Cons: Someday I'll have to upgrade.

1 out of 5 eggsWhoa... Runs Hot Enough to BBQ

Pros: Well the price was right and the graphics capabilities are... Well were... Very good.

Cons: The heat-sink was poorly fit and possibly overall insufficient.

Other Thoughts: I was rather pleased with the performance right up to the point I could smell it cooking.

After pulling the card and inspecting it closely I could see the heat-sink may have not been in good contact... Then again it got hot enough to distort.

Don't even think there was a case ventilation issue... there is enough air flow to blow dust out from behind my desk.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Mr Slinky,

I am sorry your 8400GS graphics card overheated. Please contact me if you have not yet tried to get your card fixed. You can reach me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-4713).

Regards,
Jeremy
