1 out of 5 eggsHorrible after the first couple of months

Pros: Worked great for the first couple of months....

Cons: THEN BROKE! The dang things works worse than my roomate's low profile 4500... that's just sad. Well, now I have a shooting target....

Other Thoughts: Over all when it was working it was great. I noticed an issue with the driver being not recognized hardware side. Then I began to see that the fan was slowing down more and more. Then it got hotter and then i got diagonal lines across my screen... That's when the HDMI plugged into it gave up.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please contact me if you have not tried ASUS support yet. You have a three warranty with us at ASUS and that covers any hardware failure. If you would like to send it in, you can reach me at cl-jeremy@asus.com. I am happy to address any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

4 out of 5 eggspretty good

Pros: quiet, low power draw, computationally efficient, powerful enough, significantly improved with version 12.8 drivers.

Aside from issues mentioned below, 10months of reliable service.

Cons: stupid catalyst drivers (grrrrrr), price vs. performance (i.e. value) just OK.

Started w/ driver 12.4 and had regular intermittent screen "jumping" and the "wake from sleep" issue that plagued many HD7000 series users. My wake from sleep would not BSOD, but the bottom half of the screen would be frozen (including the desktop background!). Dumb.

Driver version 12.8 seems to have completely resolved the sleep issue, and now very very rarely still get screen jumping. Happens totally randomly, usually while at idle, never loaded. Grrrr.

Other Thoughts: This is my first vid card, before no gaming only office productivity and surfing. Now getting into video editing and light gaming (RealFlight 6 RC heli flight simulator) so needed to jump into the dGFX world. Did a lot of research and really like the low power draw of the latest AMD 22nm chipset. It's reasonably powerful but draws very little power, and generates very little heat thus runs nice and quiet. Nice!

Am using a Asus Z68 mobo w/ Virtu license and PowerDirector 10 both of which can utilize the massive parallel computing power of the dGFX. This particular dGFX supports OpenGL and OpenCL. As a result, video editing, transcoding and most gaming are blazingly fast. Will this game swallow the latest titles at 150fps? No. But for many users this card is pretty sweet. I scored and got it on sale for $100.

FYI - RealFlight 6 on highest settings runs around 110fps.

Overall, recommended.

3 out of 5 eggsOne works...

Pros: The one I put in my HTPC using the HDMI output to a single monitor (LCD TV) works fine. No BSOD or other issues. Fast and quiet.

Cons: The one I put in my newer desktop computer using dual monitors (DVI outputs) blue screens with the typical ATIKMPAG.SYS failure. On the phone now w/Asus. We'll see how they resolve this...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I believe that is a driver error. Please try uninstalling your drivers, clean out anything that was left behind, and reinstall your drivers to the latest version. If you have any problems with ASUS phone support please let me know. You can reach me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-4157) with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. Thank you.

1 out of 5 eggsNothing but problems from the start

Pros: Quiet

Cons: Let's start with the AMD Vision Engine Control SW. Frustrating to say the least when trying to setup and configure multiple monitors!

I purchased this card in order to run two LCD monitors and an HD TV. My system is used to video editing and the third display was supposed to be used as a proofing monitor. Complete frustration right out of the box because I couldn't even get the 2nd LCD monitor to work. The mini display ports did not work. When I called the ASUS tech support line, the guy told me that "dongle" which was just a mini display port to DVI adapter was not a "Qualified" dongle recommended by ASUS.

He sent me a link to a site that listed all "qualified" adapters, and the cost for the one I needed was $90! So on top of buying this card, in order to use the mini display ports, I have to spend more than half of what I paid for the card t to get it to work!

On top of that the card continuously blows out my sound driver! Not worth the trouble for me.

Other Thoughts: I was in the process of editing video for two paying clients, and a third for work when my video card crapped out.

After wasting valuable time trying to get this card to work the way I needed it to, the only conclusion I can make is this card has to go back.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you have had problems setting up your HD7770 card with your monitors. If you still have the card and are willing to take the time, I would gladly like to help you troubleshoot. You can reach me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-4154) with any questions or concerns you may have.

2 out of 5 eggsNeeds some work

Pros: The card is very pretty

Cons: I get BSOD way to often. I get BSOD 0X00000116 atikmpag.sys. I can't be sure but I think it has something to do with the driver. It is also odd that it tends to blue screen when not under a load. When just browsing the internet it will blue screen in about 20 minutes every time. But if I have a video running or playing a game it will work for hours.

Other Thoughts: I used to love Asus but when I contacted them about this problem, explaining that I had re-installed the driver multiple times (from the disc and the website) and even went as far as doing a complete re-install of windows. The technician emailed me back and told me to re-install the driver and that would fix my issue. I really just want it to work.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Zote9683,

I am sorry you are getting BSOD with your HD7770 card. Please try changing your RAM (start with only one stick, then change to different slots, etc.) to see if that solves your issues. You can email me at cl-jeremy@asus.com (ref#1043-x5) if you still have problems. Thanks.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Starter

Pros: Good starter card, operates for 1080P movies and can support some decent graphics.

Cons: Very big card, it covers up a lot in my tower and was hard to work with. I had to move the other card way down to crossfire them and the cooling wasn't sufficient, so I installed a water cooling system. When I first start my computer any games I load will have a lot of video lag until the card heats up.

Other Thoughts: You'll probably want to purchase a second card to play any high end games at full graphics.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: Other reviews below me have stated the many great things about this card such as power consumption and how well it scales. For instance up to 115 percent in BF3. In crossfire this card matches and sometimes beats the geforce 580 and for its price that's amazing. The cooler on this card allows you to push it far when over clocking, if you know what yours doing.

Cons: The price for a single card only use. This card is ideal for crossfire. I had a 6850 before and that card was a tad bit more powerful.

Other Thoughts: This card should be used in crossfire but holds well on its own. I could play BF3 on high pre-set at 1920x1080 with out any slowdown what so ever. Only on ultra did I get some slowdown but is playable. Buy one card now and add another one later or just buy one for a low wattage or dated power supply.

1 out of 5 eggsGot a lemon, not video cards

Pros: Fast. X-Fire support.

Cons: Constantly fails. BSOD, random lock ups, and just doesn't work. Got two cards. With x-fire, fail. Just one card, fail. Other card by itself, fail. Both, no x-fire, fail. Even installing updated drivers fails with BSOD.
ASUS support is impossible to contact. I have tried email (the web submit is broken), chat (they never have anyone available, or the app just fails), and the rest of their website is just confusing and pointless.
Unfortunately trashed the boxes the two cards came in, so not sure if newegg can / will take them back, exchange, refund, whatever.
Would love to work wtih ASUS to make these work, but ASUS seems to really like to have broken stuff . . . or at least that's what their web presence and tech support leads me to believe. Gave ASUS a chance on this system vs. my normal vendor . . . massive mistake that will cost me several hundred dollars to remedy. Thank you ASUS.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could get these to work. ASUS, if you're looking at these reviews, give me a phone number or email that works! I want to use these cards!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear rogols,

I'm sorry you had trouble getting in contact with Asus support. Your card should be covered under warranty for up to 3 years so if you still have problems call ASUS product support at: 812-282-2787
