3 out of 5 eggsFan is junk

Pros: Great chipset. Runs most games like World of Tanks just fine, 30+fps.

Cons: Fan, plain junk. Started loping the first night. Has gone steadily down hill from there. Not going to bother RMA'ing it. Cannot be without a gpu that LONG. Neweggs great, asus is usually great but they dropped the quality ball with these fans. Getting an aftermarket cooling solution. If you plan on buying this card, get one with it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I am sorry you are having issues with the card.

I would like to help if I can. When the fans start to loop, did the fans turn on at full speed without stopping? Or were the fans stopping and then turning on at random intervals?

As a reminder, the warranty of the display card features 24-7 technical support, so if you change your mind about sending the card in for service under warranty, please let us know. Also, if you would like to discuss this case further, please respond back to my email, including the answers to the above questions. Your reference number is 3080935.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat card but note the driver issue

Pros: For what I needed (PCI-E) this card is delivering nice performance and a significant upgrade from my stock card that shipped with the HP Pavilion desktop I bought 3 years ago.
Well packaged, high quality card, install went smoothly and under load the card has been performing well with OK fan noise at higher loads. Fit no problems in my desktop case (medium size I guess) - although you do want to make sure you have vertical clearance for the fan. Also I upgraded power supply to Corsair 600W from the stock 350W. That was a smooth upgrade.

Cons: The big issue I found was that on first boot the card was found in Windows 8.1 (Pro x64); booted into low res mode, found the drivers and I was up and running at full definition.
When I rebooted I encountered a big issue: I would get past POST and logon screen would never appear. It would flicker occasionally on the lock screen icons and I could see only the mouse.
Did some investigation, apparently Windows will try to update drivers in the background and there is a conflict with installed vs. being installed drivers - an endless loop that prevents boot.
Per the threads online, I went into safe mode (low res), installed the latest drivers from Nvidia site then in Windows I made sure that Windows would not install drivers ever, automatically. That did the trick, no issues since.

Other Thoughts: It's a shame about the graphics issues as I would have been really positive on this card - it took me 90 mins to isolate and fix the issue on bootup. But since then it's been running well.

3 out of 5 eggstwo strikes

Pros: good performance when it worked

Cons: I had to rma the first one because of overheating. The second lasted just under a year and then it fried. Turned black and blue it got so hot. Luckily it didn't damage to anything else I'll see if they'll back it on warranty, but I'm tired of shipping costs.

Other Thoughts: Temps fluctuated a lot with second card with no changes to clock or task.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: This is the 4th Asus video card I've purchased over the years. All have been fast & reliable. Never had any issues using them for hard gaming. And we run our computers at least 20 hours per day, hard. Asus makes awesome motherboards too.

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great card when it works. Superb with SLI. Way worth it! With SLI it equals a single 700 dollar card without overlocking. Looking forward to overclocking.

Cons: I was playing Crysis 3 for 4 hours and then my machine crashed HARD. Had to wipe and relaod everything on a new machine. I found that I had an issue with the Nvidia drivers and had to go to Asus and download their drivers. It performs great in SLI now. Beware of the drivers on the CD. Recomend downlaoding from Asus to be safe. No overheating issues.

Gigabyte 990 Fx / AMD Vishara FX 4.2
2 Asus GTX 550s SLI
Corsair Vengance 32gb
Thermaltake 750/ 6 fans on tower.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat card! Some issues though...

Pros: It runs all my games a really decent frame rates!

Cons: After about five months of use, the card started to have some issues. Now when I'm playing a game it seems to crash due to overheating. Sometimes it'll give me a little dialog box saying that it was due to DirectX not responding ect.... I found it a little odd that it was working one day and the next decided to just stop working.

Other Thoughts: I will also have to add that some (less graphics demanding) games will work just fine. It's just when I start playing a game like ArmA2 or even Battlefield 3 that everything stops working.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please check your card for any dust that could have accumluated in your card. You may want to take it out of your system and see if the fans are spinning properly as well.
If everything seems fine, then try setting a fan profile so that the card's fans spin up faster at lower temperatures.

If you need assistance or if you need to send your card in to us, please feel free to contact me at cl-jeremy@asus.com.

4 out of 5 eggsBery Pleased

Pros: I need a replacement to a 9800 GTX+ that had been put thru it's paces for the better part of 5 years. This did the trick. It went into the kids' hand me down PC and it handles everything that they do with. It handles games like Skyrim, Battlefield 2, Team Fortress 2 among others with no issue.

Cons: None to give

Other Thoughts: I found it to be a solid replacement card for a machine that I built back in 2008. It breathed some new life into it and my kids are still enjoying. No it's not the latest and greatest by a long shot but it is what I needed for the task at hand with very little investment.
