ASUS GTX 680 Graphics Card Powers Smoother and More Detailed Gaming.

The first 28nm design from NVIDIA comes in a complete package by way of the ASUS GTX 680 graphics card, featuring true next generation power and all-new NVIDIA GPU Boost frequency modulation. ASUS GPU Tweak helps gamers and overclockers make the most of this powerhouse card through a flexible and intuitive interface, while NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync promotes smoother games with all details set to maximum. NVIDIA 3D Vision also returns, improved by 28nm efficiency and power.

  • newegg DirectCU II ASUS utilizes copper heatpipes in direct contact with the GPU surface heat is transported and dissipated efficiently. DirectCU II is 20% cooler and 14dB quieter than reference – making it a low-noise high-performance graphics card.
  • newegg VGA hotwire Exclusive VGA hotwire allows you to plug and solder wires on the card's voltage regulators and accurately read and control Vcore, Vmem, and PLL voltages from ASS ROG MBs on a hardware level.
  • newegg DIGI+ VRM with 10-phase Super Alloy Power Acclaimed DIGI+ VRM has been applied via a massive 10-phase power design that uses digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise and enhance power efficiency, widen the voltage modulation range, and improve overall stability and longevity by 2.5 times longer than reference.
  • newegg GPU Tweak Overclocking is made real-time and intuitive with ASUS GPU Tweak utility. It not only allows you to optimize clock speeds, voltage and fan speeds on up to four graphics cards independently or simultaneously, you can also select between GPU Tweak’s Standard or Advanced modes depending on your level of experience. On top of these exciting tools, ASUS gives you more: Sync GPU clocks and voltages for easier overclocking, automatically check and update driver and BIOS versions, get detailed specs and actual card status with GPU-Z, 2D/3D switcher can lock the card in 3D for higher benchmarks and monitoring widget provides detailed multi-parameter info.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Card

Pros: -Very cool Card (50-60 degrees under load)!
-Very quiet!
-Runs every game on max without a hitch!

Cons: -Size?

Other Thoughts: I used to buy "reference" cards and every time they'd heat up to about 80-90 degrees. Then you end up tweaking the fans and cranking them up and now you got that noise going on. This thing barely reaches 60 degrees under full on load running any modern game on Ultra (Planetside 2, Guild Wars 2, etc) and barely makes a sound. Best of all it looks great.

The ASUS software it comes with has a number of presets including a preset for overclocking for Games. I tend to use that instead. Was very handy if you are afraid of messing with voltages and such or just want to monitor performance. Hit the "G" and you are set.

I would have listed the cost as a con but honestly you're paying for a beast card and you get one. I could see the size being bad if you wanted two of these or something but otherwise wasn't a huge deal.

Owned for 6+ Months and not a single issue!

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work with Asus high end motherboard

Pros: none

Cons: Didn't work with Asus Maximus V Extreme mb. No connection with slot. No connection recognized in bios.

Other Thoughts: Must be defective bc I never could get a physical connection with 1st slot on board or any other slot.

Unfortunately, I purchased two higher end Asus components only to find they're not working together. I was thinking I'd spend the extra $ to have it all Asus compatible.

Result - I'm seeking a full refund for gpu and will likely be returning the board too. $900+ worth of Asus

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Cool.
- Powerful.
- Works, unlike the stock one from another company I'm not going to mention.

Cons: None really, I only wish I ordered the slightly better version of this card that costs something like $20 more.

Other Thoughts: If you're not going to be doing anything with SLI, get one of these large cool ASUS cards.

5 out of 5 eggsSimply the best

Pros: Handles everything I can throw at it. No need to go SLI on this card.

Cons: Expensive when I bought it, but looks to be coming down in price.

Other Thoughts: If you have the money, this one is a no brainer.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Garbage

Pros: It works some of the time.

Cons: This card has been flaky since I first bought it. I almost returned it immediately, but I thought it might have been a driver issue or a problem with the specific game I was playing because it seemed to be functioning normally for the most part. I regret that I didn't send it back now, because over time the problems have only worsened.

The card now frequently freezes up while I'm playing a variety of different games, but it's not overheating according to Afterburner. The rest of the system continues to be unaffected, Pandora continues to play just fine, but the screen is stuck on whatever frame it last rendered before taking a dump. This happened to me twice tonight while I was commanding in NS2 and ended up costing our entire team an otherwise epic game several hours in the works.

Furthermore, it has ANOTHER completely bizarre and random symptom where everything renders as if it's in slow motion. This includes Windows aero effects, but it's especially noticeable once inside a game where everything on screen plays perfectly smooth, but inside some kind of crazy time warp. This happens on a regular basis, and I have to either restart the machine or do a clean driver install to get it running normally again. Due to this second issue, I had to restart no less than 4 times after the initial freeze to get the card running 'normally' again. I have these freezes and slow-mo freakouts on a weekly basis, and I am completely fed up.

I paid almost $550 for this card when I bought it, and it's given me almost nothing but headaches since then. It doesn't perform noticeably better than the 460 it replaced when it IS working, and it is far less stable / reliable thanks to the aforementioned issues.

Other Thoughts: I've been a stalwart ASUS supporter for many, many years, and I'm incredibly disappointed in what was supposed to be a flagship product. I think the card should still be under their warranty, but I've heard so many horror stories about their customer support.

Even then, I expect they would want me to yank the card out of my machine and mail it to them for an RMA, and it's not like I have the option of just going without a computer for however long that takes.

I wish I had just returned the darn thing to newegg at the first sign of trouble and saved myself a lot of grief.

5 out of 5 eggsI Meant Crysis 2 not 3

Pros: I just wanted to amend my previous post. The benchmarks I shared were for Crysis 2 NOT 3. (3 isn't even out yet.)

Cons: I apologize for my mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, Temperatures and Results

Pros: ● Great Cooling System
● Idles between 23°-30° Celsius with 2 monitors and a TV connected
● Card has not gone above 70° Celsius, even when Crysis 3 is at max settings
● Only seems to hit maximum load when running games like Crysis 3 on max settings
● Almost all other games the card does not even hit 50%!!

Cons: ● I find that the Geforce 670 is a better overall "bang for your buck", since this card was $530 when I bought it

Other Thoughts: The 670 is better overall but from my experiences and research, does not get the low voltages or temperatures that this card does.

- I will update this later on, if anything changes with the card or my experience with it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card!

Pros: This is my third pc i've built in my life. My first two machines had the highest ATI card at the time, the last being an ati 5970 and after all the issues I had with my ati cards I decided to try Nvidia. Man o man am I glad I made the switch! I've got two of these cards currently running in SLi on the z77 asRock Oc formula with a I7 3770, Corsair dominator 2133 mem 16 gig, and a 520 series SSD from intel and all I can say is Wow! I bought a 30" monitor from dell and am using that at my only monitor, but wow does every look amazing! 2560x1600 Resolution is the way to go. Want smooth framerates in every game with ultra/maxed settings? get two of these puppies. I've run Crisis, Crisis 2, with all the graphics mods at max settings max resolution and I average around 50-70 fps. I don't dip below 33 fps. I run Skyrim with over 100 Mod's HD textures ect. and I never lag, fps doesn't drop below 60. Metro 2033 max setting ect, no lag, play smoothly. All I can say is I really am enjoying these cards. I don't overclock, mainly because I want my machines to last 5-7 years.

Cons: I don't know if it's so much of a con or not, but when running 3dmark pcmark I can't seem to get accurate readings/ fps. Doesn't really matter though because game run smooth.

Other Thoughts: The two video games thrown in was icing on the cake for me.

I've had everything running stock for a few months now, I've had no issues what so ever, so all in all i'm a pretty happy camper.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card

Pros: Read the reviews here about the card and decided to buy it! Glad I did because I'm very happy with the card. Runs great, stays cool and quiet. Has great over-clocking capability when I need to do so in the future.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: ASUS makes really great products. I own other ASUS products and I'm quit satisfied with them all. You pay a little more for ASUS, but you get what you pay for.
