ASUS GTX 680 Graphics Card Powers Smoother and More Detailed Gaming.

The first 28nm design from NVIDIA comes in a complete package by way of the ASUS GTX 680 graphics card, featuring true next generation power and all-new NVIDIA GPU Boost frequency modulation. ASUS GPU Tweak helps gamers and overclockers make the most of this powerhouse card through a flexible and intuitive interface, while NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync promotes smoother games with all details set to maximum. NVIDIA 3D Vision also returns, improved by 28nm efficiency and power.

  • newegg DirectCU II ASUS utilizes copper heatpipes in direct contact with the GPU surface heat is transported and dissipated efficiently. DirectCU II is 20% cooler and 14dB quieter than reference – making it a low-noise high-performance graphics card.
  • newegg VGA hotwire Exclusive VGA hotwire allows you to plug and solder wires on the card's voltage regulators and accurately read and control Vcore, Vmem, and PLL voltages from ASS ROG MBs on a hardware level.
  • newegg DIGI+ VRM with 10-phase Super Alloy Power Acclaimed DIGI+ VRM has been applied via a massive 10-phase power design that uses digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise and enhance power efficiency, widen the voltage modulation range, and improve overall stability and longevity by 2.5 times longer than reference.
  • newegg GPU Tweak Overclocking is made real-time and intuitive with ASUS GPU Tweak utility. It not only allows you to optimize clock speeds, voltage and fan speeds on up to four graphics cards independently or simultaneously, you can also select between GPU Tweak’s Standard or Advanced modes depending on your level of experience. On top of these exciting tools, ASUS gives you more: Sync GPU clocks and voltages for easier overclocking, automatically check and update driver and BIOS versions, get detailed specs and actual card status with GPU-Z, 2D/3D switcher can lock the card in 3D for higher benchmarks and monitoring widget provides detailed multi-parameter info.
  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.

5 out of 5 eggsBeast

Pros: Can run pretty much anything on the highest settings, aside from crazy unnecessary things like SSAA. Was relatively cheap.

Cons: Not a pair of titans or 980s.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the wait.

Pros: Able to OC to 1200 MHz boost clock and 6050MHz memory. The wait for a sale at the end of the year was worth it. This is practically the same as my two 480s that total 1600MHz but much cooler and silent.
The massive cooler keeps it at 30c when just browsing and about 50-60c when playing NS2 and battlefield 4.

Cons: Little to no cons. just know the massive size of it well and measure up your available space. I managed to fit this in a micro ATX case.

No cons on performance.

Other Thoughts: Depending on your motherboard's SATA layout, you may want to consider getting angled SATA cables. Remember that it takes up 3 expansion slots.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated review

Pros: Even though this is the regular OC instead of the Top edition, it overclocks quite well. Got my GPU clock offset at 182+ (boosts to 1293 in game), memory at 500+ (7000 effective) at default power target and fan on auto (stays below 70 C). Didn't even have to unlock the voltage.

Cons: Price--now that GTX 770's have come down to low $300's.

Pros: none

Cons: didn't work the first time. sent back for refund.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the initial issues that you were having with your card. What was it that didn’t seem to work? Did it not power on? Was it unable to play what you needed it to? I know you have since sent it back for a refund, but if you ever have any questions and/or concerns prior to purchasing another Asus card, please feel free to e-mail me at I’ll be happy to help answer any questions that you might have.

Best Regards,

ASUS Customer Loyalty

5 out of 5 eggsgtx 680

Pros: Great card runs everything like a dream
multiple fans keeps the card cooler then most cards

Cons: i think the only down side to the card is its size
its probably one of the bigger cards out their so make sure you have a case that can handle it

5 out of 5 eggsSolid like a rock

Pros: Price (got it for less than $340 AR + free game); solid construction; stays very cool/quiet (even compared to my Asus GTX 670 Top, which itself is one of the quietest high-performance VGA's); runs games as smooth as butter; I only overclocked it briefly (gpu at 140+, memory at 200+; at stock voltage (which is locked BTW) and stock power target) as most games already run at 60 FPS (adaptic sync on) with all settings maxed out at 1920x1200.

Cons: takes up 3 slots (for me it was not really a problem because I don't have SLI); minimal factory overclock

Other Thoughts: GTX 680 has been replaced by GTX 770 which costs $400+, with less than 10% performance increase. I personally prefer the much beefier heatsink/fan on this 680. Some people flash the bios to unlock the gpu voltage or enable GPU boost 2.0, but I haven't done so.

1 out of 5 eggsdied after one week

Pros: good when it worked

Cons: after a week screen corruption started, a reboot resolved problem for about 3 minutes, then more screen corruption.
Card quit booting, sent back for RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a bargain!

Pros: 1. Out of the box OC at 1189 Mhz
2. Great performance
3. Stupendous deal (right now anyway) for a Gtx 680
4. Sturdy design
5. Nice black backplate

Cons: Card is massive. Three slot card and it's almost an inch longer than my Gigabyte 680.

Other Thoughts: Just got this card today and it is awesome. For $360 this is a steal of a deal. Not to mention the $30 rebate and free Splinter Cell Blacklist that I will be selling, this a a Gtx 680 under $300. The box has GPU Boost at 1084 Mhz, and this particular PCB boosts to 1189 Mhz out of the box. Quite pleased with ASUS and will probably continue to buy their products. Also Newegg rules. Got the card in two days with the cheapest shipping option.
