5 out of 5 eggsGreat for my XBMC boxes

Pros: Does a 1080p screen without challenges, delivers Dolby® TrueHD™ and DTSHD™ Master Audio capabilities (works with XBMC pass-through), Dead silent for an HTPC since there is no video card fan.

Cons: For my purpose, I can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: Dependable card for an XBMC build. tested with Ver 12 and 13 Beta 1. You will like it.

3 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy ASUS Products

Pros: Seems to be an excellent performer for its price class.
Works very nicely where ultra-fast "gaming" performance isn't required.

Cons: Unfortunately, ASUS doesn't honor its advertised mail-in rebates! Certainly not in my case, and apparently in many others' as well, based on a simple web search.

Other Thoughts: If a manufacturer refuses to honor a rebate, even though the customer has followed required procedure TO THE LETTER, then I consider the company to be dishonest and I will not do business with them again! That is my opinion regarding ASUS. I will not do business with them again, and I recommend others do the same! Do some web searches on "ASUS rebate" & "ASUS Customer Support" and see for yourselves, BEFORE you buy!

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

I am sorry that you are having issues processing your rebate. When you have the time, please provide the following information to my email:

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Good, works great. Drivers are the best I've seen even compared to AMD and I own AMD parts. Don't get me wrong AMD drivers are decent when you can find the one that doesn't crash then it is good. This one does it automatically so it was extremely convenient.

Cons: None. It's ASUS they have great reps for quality. :)

Other Thoughts: None to say. Other than the heatsink was too big that I had to make space for it on my old Dell GX280, but I wouldn't take an egg away for that. So I couldn't be able to leave my sound card in, but oh well. It there is anything wrong I will leave another commet for now I've trusted ASUS all this time and they haven't let me down once.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS GT610-SL-1GD3 video card

Pros: Dead quiet
Low power consumption
3 different types of input ports
Excellent picture quality with smooth playback

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: This is being used in an older system that I converted to an HTPC system. It replaced a 9800GT to reduce the noise level...dead quiet! I'm using the hdmi port and haven't noticed any problems with video playback or sound and picture quality is excellent. I was surprised to find that this card is good enough to play World of Warcraft MOP. I've noticed a minimum 26fps in the busy cities and generally between 70-84fps in world areas and dungeons, running 1920x1080 windowed mode with most game settings at Good. Not as good as my gaming pc but not too shabby either, definitely playable. Gpu temp has not exceeded 66C.

6 year old system is comprised of the following components, with exception of video card and case fan;

Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSH motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ cpu
ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro cpu cooler
Kingston 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 - 3GB total
KINGWIN ABT-450MM 450W power supply
ASUS DRW-1814BL R dvd burner/player
KINGWIN CF-012LB 120mm case fan x 1
ASUS GT610-SL-1GD3-L video card

4 out of 5 eggsNice Upgrade Video Card

Pros: Bought this to upgrade from the Radeon 4200 HD MoBo chipset on my HP Pavilion p6653W which was much to slow for limited gaming. I was able to play Dawn of War II with a much faster frame rate and smoother interface. Looking forward to trying other games with this GPU. Although not intended for gaming it does work pretty darn good so far. Very easy to install.

Cons: Had a little trouble updating to the most current drivers. Driver update failed forcing windows to purge the driver installed from CD that came with it. I had to reinstall driver from CD

Other Thoughts: Works just fine out of the box with drivers from included CD installed. Will contact nVidia to see why updated driver failed to install.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for the price

Pros: Basic card install, nothing special.
Good speeds (not benchmarked) in our HTPC system to allow for some basic gaming.

Cons: Software is a bit obnoxious.

Other Thoughts: This is a great little card. It handles what I throw at it, and is actually more capable than I expected for the price. Don't expect this to play games at 1080p at maxed out settings, that's not what this card is. It doesn't compare to the GTX 680 in my desktop rig, but that's not what this card is. It's a great video playback card to be used for occasional family gaming.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid cooling, good value

Pros: The card performs very well in video playback. It can handle hardware decoding and chroma upsampling of at least three 720p streams simultaneously, which is handy when comparing quality. Excellent performance in 2002-2007 games on high settings. The ASUS card comes with a stronger bracket with an angled edge, which doesn't bend like the Gigabyte model in my other system. Due to the absence of a fan, the card appears to be of reliable construction. Good VGA signal quality. Custom resolution support for non-standard flat screens.

Cons: While being low power, the card shouldn't be considered for playing earlier games, which don't work at all or have poor 16-bit color quality without dithering. The card is limited by its 64-bit memory interface when running games in HD resolutions. Bloated drivers. Might not be bundled with a low profile replacement bracket.

Other Thoughts: One egg removed because the first board I purchased sporadically failed to be detected by the motherboard, froze while on the BIOS interface, and required replacement. Under full load in a regular case, the GPU temperature reaches 62 °C, which is good, and means the heatsink is adequate and not too large.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS GT610

Pros: Worked great for two months

Cons: no longer works - after only two months - now in process of RMA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for HTPC

Pros: I bought this after hearing about the good reviews that the HDMI handshakeds properly with TVs & AV Recievers. I had an AMD Card in my small form factor Dell Optiplex 9010 and the audio would constantly drop with that card. This card has worked perfectly since install without dropping audio once. I am using this card with a Pioneer VSX 1022-K AV Receiver. It is also 100% silent since it has no fan, which is very nice. Windows 7 detected it right away and installed the latest drivers for it. BlueRay works perfectly smooth on it, as well as some older games. I also have The Sims 3 installed on my HTPC, and even that runs nice and smooth (with low-medium settings). I was even able to max out the settings in the Sims 3 at 1080p res and it was still smooth about 90% of the time. Highly recommended for basic usage!
