2 out of 5 eggsready to sell it

Pros: Seems fast.

Cons: Nearly daily Windows Kernal Driver errors. I bought this for a business system and haven't even had time to try out any games yet. It causes simple programs like Photoshop and Google Earth to crash constantly. I don't have time to get all the details and start a support file with ASUS, Will be cheaper just to get a new on and hock it. What's with the 30-day return window for electronics? Took me more than that to find the time to build the system as it was.

1 out of 5 eggsDead within a year

Pros: can play many games on ULTRA graphics. Very smooth... when it works.

Cons: This card was working fine for a couple of months until it started crashing whenever i was doing the simplest things.
Ive tested the video card on 3 builds and all the same issue. When I would play video games, watch movies/videos or simply surf the internet, the video card would crash. It would say the video card stopped responding. I also tried re building my machine, re installed windows and reset my bios. Same issue.
I tried RMAing this card because it is still under warranty. I paid 20$ for shipping they received and immediately sent the card back to me (received the card in 4 days, sent it back within 2 days) saying there was nothing wrong with it. I tested it again and the same issue is occurring. I called tech support explaining that nothing was done to my card and the same issue was happening. The lady put me on hold for an hour and told me she has escalated this to the highest level and they will contact me within the next day or so. I called 4 days later to check on the case since no one called me and the lady on the line said they closed my case and there are no record of my case being escalated. This is very frustrating and I don't understand why no tech worked on my card, especially since it is under warranty.

Terrible customer service. Not sure why nothing can be done if my card is under warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Ubuntu, Steam

Pros: Fast enough for Steam games
Moderate price
Quiet
Works with Ubuntu 14.04 with no extra drivers
Works with Steam (on Ubuntu) with no extra drivers

Cons: Large size
Bracket blocks port on my motherboard (*this is why I took one star off the review*)

Other Thoughts: I bought this to go in my desktop PC running Ubuntu 14.04 in order to make Steam games work better.

Installing it was difficult because of its large size. I had to move hard drives and reroute cables inside my tower. A metal bracket on the video card blocked the case-audio port on my motherboard (an ASROCK H61M/U3S3), which is too bad because the bracket doesn't need to be shaped like that.

I was worried about installing drivers to make the video card work but no, it worked immediately. Having it installed means the integrated graphics on my mother board are disabled.

I don't do a heck of a lot of gaming but this card transformed my experience with Cities: Skylines from uselessly slow to silky smooth. For my needs, this card works quite well. I have only had it for a few days so far, so I can't comment on long-term function.

5 out of 5 eggssatisfied

Pros: I purchased this card for my last computer a few years ago . when I did a new build it was one of the few things i kept . No its not a new as everything else and maybe it is out of date by today's standards . And that's ok . It works , it works very well . I wanted to play games with good graphics and decent frame rates . I didnt want to have to go out and by a six hundred dollar ps4 to do it . I am really happy with my choice . I'm not a hardcore ( need three monitors and my moms basement ) type of gamer . But being able to play crisis 3 at max settings without issues really gets my geek on . and my buddy that bought the ps4 , hes kinda wishing he'd just upgraded his computer as well . Thanks Asus . my next card will be an Asus as well

Cons: When i put it in my new computer I broke to of the blades off one of the fans . Bummer . It doesn't seem to be an issue . I figured it would caus a balance problem with the rotation of the fan or something . nope and no heat problems . But I know its broke and it bugs me . Cant find a replacement for it either .

2 out of 5 eggsDont know what to say

Pros: Runs everything in my gaming spectrum efortlessly....as long as it works.

Cons: Cons, really? Do I have to repeat what everybody has already said?

Other Thoughts: Build: Intel Core I5 4590, MSI Z97 SLI mobo, Asus GTX660 DirectCuII, 4G generic RAM. 550W Cooler Master PSU

Ok, first of all, I live in Cuba, bought all of the above except the RAM on newegg through a friend in the US. VGA card was 20$ more expensive so I think 2 years have been enough on people catching up with the "faults" on this card, sorry I didn’t realize sooner. That’s just to state that RMAing is out of the question for me.

So, I receive my package and I go on as happy as a school kid to mount the rig, I asked a much more experienced friend to help me out on that. Everything went ok and he left leaving me with the menial task of installing a fresh OS. I do so, install everything in both Asus and MSI installation Cds. So far so good.

As a proud new owner of a (average) gaming build I go on and ask W7 to give me its experience evaluation, and then all went to….

Got BSOD with no video output whatsoever, thought was a random problem and restarted, to spare you the details and summing up on that day I got several other BSODs, random system freezes and a gazillion cute messages of “graphic driver has recovered”, blah, blah. If you have done any research on this card sure you have seen this before.

Given the budget, why did I get a NVIDIA graphic chip on an ASUS card?, simply put because don’t like to pay 20 o 30 bucks just to have a EVGA which is basically the same, or even more difficult to keep cool in this weather, and I just heard tons of "complaints" about R9 270 cards, so I thought was a smart decision.

Next day ran frantically to the Internet merely to find out that this is a common problem with this card, thought that would be good since you good guys should have an easy fix for it. Bazinga! Not in your lifetime!. Tried all advices, from downclocking to registry editing, that only avoided the BSODs but still kept having numerous system crashings and kernel issues popping out of whatever game I was in the moment. Did more digging and applied the least recommended, revert Nvidia screw-driver to a 305 version and shut down most W7 graphics options including Aero, that was the day before yesterday. Guess? No more problems so far, yesterday loaded a good 2hours gaming session on several average-demanding games with no issues, temperature didn’t even went above 50. G willing it will keep like that.

The thing is: is not Neweggs fault, its not ASUS fault. But what the…do the people from Nvidia do for a living?? Don’t you have any kind of back feed?? Im no computer genius but this is clearly a software engineering problem, how is it possible that your newest drivers sets, (and the one included with the card) not only do not fix the problem, but make it worse. Cant you come up with a patch-like thing or something? I had a very sad night sleep thinking I got stuck with a gorgeous but worthless piece of plastic, and right now I have fingers and toes crossed for not having any more serious issues with this card.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable in Windows 7 & 8

Pros: None

Cons: This card is not stable. BSOD in Windows 7 & 8 64bit. I have worked with Microsoft tech to identify issue and all points back to card. Have installed multiple drivers from Nivida and all the same. Also, the screen flickers or blacks out for a second. Sent Asus a open ticket email and no response.
