5 out of 5 eggsWorks great as an upgrade to my little 300w system

Pros: A great upgrade to my 4 year old HP with an integrated 128 MB chip. A friend and I went looking for some GPU's that would be compatible with a 300w system like I have. At first we found a GT 610 that I considered suitable for my needs (Light gaming, TF2 at lower settings), I was set on getting that until we found this at the last second. I was a bit worried about power consumption, not knowing if this would even work properly with my system. Sure enough, it works almost flawlessly. I think the system is automatically not feeding as much power to it as it would with a device with a better power usage, but what do you expect? It plays TF2 on a 20 inch display, 50-70 FPS on high settings (No anti-aliasing).

Temperatures are great, no issues here.

Cons: My system has been freezing up a little lately while running a couple more tasks at once, I think when the CPU needs more power it pulls it from the GPU and then freezes my display. Not a huge issue, only happens when I first turn on the system and attempt to instantly run stuff, or when running a virus scan and doing other activities.

It also adds about 5 seconds to booting the bios when turning the system on, more power usage playing a role I see.

None of these I feel are huge issues.

Other Thoughts: It's a good cheap card for doing smaller activities. I would see this working great for HD video playing, and occasional little 3D things. Maybe you have Windows 8 and love all the little 3D games on the app store, this will help.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Media Center GPU

Pros: 1. Silent, runs warm but silent is a good tradeoff
2. 40-60% usage when using 1080p plenty of overhead room
3. Perfect for a Media Center
4. Connections HDMI w/audio, DVI, VGA

Cons: 1. Card is a little taller than standard expansion slot height, it still fit but would be nice if it was not taller than standard slot.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Quiet (duh)
Works with VDPAU on it's highest settings

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to replace a failed GT8600 in my main HTPC box. No issues on installation, the card just worked. I use it daily for multiple hours at a time and the GPU temp averages at about 65 C. This with a case that isn't ventilated the greatest (1 case fan, not blowing on the card). Overheating was my main concern in buying this card but it a complete non-issue now.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please contact either Newegg or ASUS Support if you have not done so already. I can help you if you would like to email me at cl-jeremy@asus.com. Can you provide a bit more detail of what didn't work? Was there a VGA warning on your motherboard? No video output? Something else?
You have a 3 year warranty with us at ASUS that covers any hardware defect you may be experiencing. Please let me know if you have already contacted support or if you would like to utilize your warranty with us at ASUS.

Regards,
