DirectCU II
The award-winning DirectCU II design continues to bring cooler and quieter operation to each generation of graphics cards. DirectCU II continues to combine the efficiency of direct contact copper heatpipes with the GPU, massive heatsink, and two fans to dissipate heat quickly. With different demands for power and temperature, ASUS exclusive DirectCU II now comes in a variety of flavors to bring at least 20% cooler performance while maintaining a standard in quiet operations.
GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II

DirectCU II with SSU Thermal Design
Comprising two "S" and one "U" shapes, the DirectCU II with SSU heatpipes are precisely shaped for optimal efficiency and heat transference. Now with their mid-section placed directly over the GPU, this design creates bi-directional flow and shortens heat transfer distance - doubling cooling capacity while maintaining the same size and footprint of existing graphics card cooling solution. This award-winning combination delivers 20% cooler and 2X quieter operations.
Dual Dust-Proof Fans
DirectCU II thermal assembly is further chilled by dual high-performance fans to generate direct airflow onto the large aluminum heatsink to efficiently dissipate heat. Each fan has been carefully tested and fine-tuned to minimize noise even under a full load. Each fan uses a dust-proof design to reduce dust and debris accumulation for increased reliability and improved performance.

High-conductivity copper used in heatpipe formulation creates tube-like vapor chambers, moving heat to a large aluminum heatsink that features extended fins for multiple points of dissipation. The assembly is further chilled by two high performance but carefully-tuned and sound-dampened fans for faster and quieter cooling.
Super Alloy Power
ASUS exclusive Super Alloy Power utilizes specially formulated alloy inside power delivery components to provide a more stable and quieter operation compared to reference design. The specially formulated alloy is highly-magnetic, heat-resistant and anti-corrosive. Super Alloy Power can increase lifespan 2.5 times while operating up to 35 degrees cooler. With Super Hybrid Engine to intelligently monitor and control power management, Super Alloy Power graphics cards are able to deliver up to a 15% performance boost.
Digi + VRM
The application of DIGI+VRM integrates a 10-phase digital power design with digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise level by 30% and enhance power efficiency by 15%. Digi + VRM is designed with wider voltage modulation tolerance to improve overall stability as well as increase overclocking potential.

1 out of 5 eggsAsus gtx 770

Pros: Overall, the card looks great, the fans are quiet. The color scheme and the make was the reason for this purchase. I have an Asus Maximus Vii Hero and opted for the same brand GPU. I considered the 780 but didn't want to pay the premium.

Cons: From day one, this card failed on me. At first I thought it was my Asus 144hz monitor so I returned it. Then I got an Accer 144hz and didnt have a problem for a few days. My friend gave me a new Asus 27" TN panel 60hz so I decided to return the Accer to save some money. I noticed after I started using this monitor, the crashes happened more frequent to the point of crashing over six times a day during gaming. I only play League of Legends and that by far is not graphic intensive. It got to a point where I thought it was my power supply. In the end, I was so frustrated with the whole experience that I removed the 770 and used the integrated video card for gaming. I had NO problems. Contacted Newegg and asked for a refund for the 770.

Other Thoughts: It was a horrible experience since this was my first build and I had no idea if it was my fault or hardware. Im so happy with my setup now. I am currently running gigabyte gtx 970 SLI with a corsair 1000w PSU(upgrade).

1 out of 5 eggsBlack Screen Lock-Ups

Pros: Was a really nice fast card when it worked, was a huge step up from my old rig hobbling around on EVGA GTS450.

Cons: It would regularly flash to a black screen and freeze my entire PC, requiring a hard reset to get around. I tested everything (memory, CPU, PSU) and even re-formatted and re-installed Windows 7 with just bare-bones drivers to eliminate all potential software conflicts. Every freeze left no indicators in the event viewer as to what caused or lead up to the system freeze. Would crash consistently in any game environment and even froze opening up Chrome and Picture Viewer once each. Even low stress games like Killingfloor (a game built out of a 10 year old Unreal 2004 mod), even though an hour long FurMark stress test never caused the card to fail or blip over 81C.

But as soon as I removed the card and plugged in my old EVGA GTS450, the black freezes stopped and I haven't had another once since. Even got another GTX770, and EVGA SuperClocked, and have had zero black screen freezes. So yeah, the problem was the ASUS card, which made my system simply unusable for the gaming it was built for.

Had Newegg RMA the card for me.

Other Thoughts: Huge props to Newegg for their awesome customer service.

While I have an ASUS motherboard because they make really reliable motherboards, don't get this card. It seems like this is a prevalent problem with ASUS high end CUII Kepler cards, including their GTX780 and GTX780Ti.

But hell, the GTX970's just launched and they come stock with 4GB vRAM and with a greater amount of CUDA cores and more efficient architecture, and they are way cheaper than this card. Save your money, get a GTX970 if you can get your hands on one. Hopefully ASUS's GTX970 fares better than this card did for me.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible experience

Pros: In theory, this card should work really well. Great specs and appearance.

Cons: This card is plagued by the issue described by the past few reviewers. It appears that this model, particularly the 4GB one (which I have), is not able to run stably on its current firmware/vBIOS. I'm RMAing mine back to ASUS because I was stupid and didn't realize that cutting out the UPC on the box would void my ability to return it to Newegg. But I highly doubt this will resolve the problem that SO many people seem to have had. If it does or if there is any update to this situation, I'll revise this review to reflect that.

It's just unfortunate that this product was/is being sold despite this known problem (a quick Google search shows it being around for at least several months). I feel really annoyed, frustrated, and misled.

4 out of 5 eggsLimited

Pros: Great card but I should have waited for the 9 series.

Cons: Wanted to by another for SLI setup but at this price point it's makes no since. This card is not worth $329.99. The 970 makes way more sense and can be had for about the same amount of money. NO HDMI 2.0

Other Thoughts: 4k with HDMI 2.0 is the near future and HDMI 2.0 video cards will be required. Get a 9 series card if you can.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Buy It

Pros: Fantastic Cooling

Cons: Crashes on any game while under load, forcing a hard reset

Other Thoughts: Like others have said, the 2GB version is fixable, but not the 4GB. Just get the GTX 970 for $20 more.

2 out of 5 eggsWas promising

Pros: Worked great for about 4 hours of use.

Cons: Unfortunately this cards suffers from the video signal cutting out or locking the computer up where your only choices are sit there baffled or hard reset your computer

Other Thoughts: If and/or when this issue is fixed then this card would be great!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Ever

Pros: So I just received my new video card today and installed it into a I7 system. I will end up ordering another one and setting it up in SLI mode. The thing is super quite and super powerful. You really don't know it's there. The temperature stay low even under a heavy load. Overclocking is very easy to do with this card even if you know nothing about how to overclock it. I would buy this again.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I also would like to thank newegg as well. I had a problem where I received my box of computer stuff to build my I7 and the box was all ripped up and when I opened what little box there was it I was missing my video card. I contacted them thinking I was going to jump through a lot of hoops and what not to get a video card but I was wrong. They took care of me and they were very helpful and I can't thank you guys enough. I wish everyone had great customer support like you guys do. And thank you again.
