DirectCU II
The award-winning DirectCU II design continues to bring cooler and quieter operation to each generation of graphics cards. DirectCU II continues to combine the efficiency of direct contact copper heatpipes with the GPU, massive heatsink, and two fans to dissipate heat quickly. With different demands for power and temperature, ASUS exclusive DirectCU II now comes in a variety of flavors to bring at least 20% cooler performance while maintaining a standard in quiet operations.
GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II

DirectCU II with SSU Thermal Design
Comprising two "S" and one "U" shapes, the DirectCU II with SSU heatpipes are precisely shaped for optimal efficiency and heat transference. Now with their mid-section placed directly over the GPU, this design creates bi-directional flow and shortens heat transfer distance - doubling cooling capacity while maintaining the same size and footprint of existing graphics card cooling solution. This award-winning combination delivers 20% cooler and 2X quieter operations.
Dual Dust-Proof Fans
DirectCU II thermal assembly is further chilled by dual high-performance fans to generate direct airflow onto the large aluminum heatsink to efficiently dissipate heat. Each fan has been carefully tested and fine-tuned to minimize noise even under a full load. Each fan uses a dust-proof design to reduce dust and debris accumulation for increased reliability and improved performance.

High-conductivity copper used in heatpipe formulation creates tube-like vapor chambers, moving heat to a large aluminum heatsink that features extended fins for multiple points of dissipation. The assembly is further chilled by two high performance but carefully-tuned and sound-dampened fans for faster and quieter cooling.
Super Alloy Power
ASUS exclusive Super Alloy Power utilizes specially formulated alloy inside power delivery components to provide a more stable and quieter operation compared to reference design. The specially formulated alloy is highly-magnetic, heat-resistant and anti-corrosive. Super Alloy Power can increase lifespan 2.5 times while operating up to 35 degrees cooler. With Super Hybrid Engine to intelligently monitor and control power management, Super Alloy Power graphics cards are able to deliver up to a 15% performance boost.
Digi + VRM
The application of DIGI+VRM integrates a 10-phase digital power design with digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise level by 30% and enhance power efficiency by 15%. Digi + VRM is designed with wider voltage modulation tolerance to improve overall stability as well as increase overclocking potential.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Ever

Pros: So I just received my new video card today and installed it into a I7 system. I will end up ordering another one and setting it up in SLI mode. The thing is super quite and super powerful. You really don't know it's there. The temperature stay low even under a heavy load. Overclocking is very easy to do with this card even if you know nothing about how to overclock it. I would buy this again.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I also would like to thank newegg as well. I had a problem where I received my box of computer stuff to build my I7 and the box was all ripped up and when I opened what little box there was it I was missing my video card. I contacted them thinking I was going to jump through a lot of hoops and what not to get a video card but I was wrong. They took care of me and they were very helpful and I can't thank you guys enough. I wish everyone had great customer support like you guys do. And thank you again.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken Hearted Asus Fan

Pros: The only Pro I can give it was that it was a good deal at the time when the market price on video cards was inflated due to bitcoin miners.

Cons: Everything in short.
*Constantly overheats
*Randomly black screens and changes settings
*Software included did not function as stated

Other Thoughts: Originally I thought it was a good buy but boy was I wrong, I have had nothing but trouble out of it since I purchased it, on top of having to send the first one I was sent back because it didn't work at all, it was a dead card, then the replacement one I recieved constantly overheats and causes my computer to crash when I try to do anything that requires any type of graphics load. I have been a supporter of Asus ever since I built my first computer and I usually buy all Asus parts but I regret this one, it basicly turned my high-end gaming rig into a paper weight and I had to save up for 8 months to be able to afford my dream computer. I for one lost faith in Asus for this one and if I am able to by some miracle in the future to build another gaming rig, I will be seeking other than Asus and it breaks my heart because I was one of their biggest supporters and fans. In short I recommend going with a different card now that the market is evening back out.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings MPRGamer,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your replacement graphics card sir. If you have not already begun an RMA or want to discuss this case further, please let me know and I will be happy to assist. When you have the chance, please provide me with what troubleshooting steps you have tried, as well as the rest of the systems hardware configuration. Cs#N140909946

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for 4K Resolution

Pros: The perfect solution for a 4K monitor. I was sad to RMA this product but that Asus PB287Q had issues unrelated to the card so I had no need for it.

Cons: Very bulky. It took some time to fit it my case. Moving wires was required.

5 out of 5 eggsBest video card I've ever had.

Pros: This video card runs quiet, it's cool, and the performance is amazing. Everything runs on High/Ultra 1080p and easily gets over 60FPS (in many cases 100+). As advertised, it runs cool. Even while playing games it never pushes above 50C. The build quality is fantastic.

Cons: None, fantastic card.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: I bought this when the 700 series was still pretty new in the market. At the time, this card was already cheaper than the competition.
This card has performed really well since day one. It crashes once in a blue moon, not any more than all the other systems I've owned.
Idles at 31C. I've never seen it go above 65C under heavy load but then again I never paid much attention to temps while gaming. Never went above 74C on a Furmark test (default benchmark preset: 1080) and hovered around 50 fps. I had a 570 before this and that one fired up like a toaster whenever I run a stress test.
I've thrown most AAA games at it and most of them ran well on Ultra or max settings, usually able to maintain 60 fps. I had some stutters with Metro Last Light but that is a problem experienced by many. Some changes in the settings fixed it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've seen some comments mentioning the size. It's true, this card is big. But that's to be expected nowadays. The dimensions are clearly provided on the specifications tab. Although it doesn't account for any protrusions (if there are any at all) along the exterior of the card, this should give you a good idea about how much room is needed before you buy it.
The card does sag a little. I never did anything to hold it up better, just the usual screws in the rear panel of the case. After over a year of ownership, I can safely assume rigging it to sit straight is not necessary.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Got this to replace an aging GTX 560 Ti.

Slotted it in, booted up, global driver picked it up and I was good to go within minutes. No additional setup required.

VERY quiet. Not hearing the GPU fans roaring when under load was a breath of fresh air.

Cons: It's a big. Had to rearrange the drives in my tower in order to give it enough space. Minor detail, but make sure you properly account for its dimensions if you don't have much breathing room.

Other Thoughts: If you're trying to choose between the 770 and 780, get the 770. Best bang for buck and you won't be missing the extra power from the 780 for most practical gaming purposes.
